Kenwood M2 DRM Modifications and BIAS repair

- This M2 was given to me by a buddy of mine, Forrest, with blown fuses. After investigating i found 2 of the left channel outputs were blown as well as some major solder issues from years of heat on the board. Daniel Mattis out of the Carolina's runs a website called DRMAudio and sells kits to refurbish your M2/M2A for a fraction of the cost of new outputs. He sells top notch product and his product support is second to none.

Hello, you may have documentation regarding the change of elements and a description of the modification.
You'll have to ask the vendor , I don't want to enfringe on his work.

@@Santo-California He is very helpful and will sell you whatever you need to repair it, he won't give away his documentation for all the work he has done over the years to create the kit- he asked me not to share the docs with people and I respect his hard work.and wishes.
I thought this is your modification of this Kenwood M2A, will try to contact the author of the project.
@@cpgixxer Tell me if you still use Kenwood M2A or if you just repaired it and you don't have it anymore, write some opinions about the M2A if the sound offered by the M2A is worth the sacrifice.
ok so some Sony ES amps pretty much use the same sanken dual transistors. Im surprised nobody has done mods/upgrades like this for the sonys.
Not sure why, i guess it all depends on how far someone is willing to go to reengineer a unit.
Kenwood's amps gained more traction in the market. The HV/LV PS and drive was innovative. With the fan,
it enabled MUCH smaller heatsinks for the available power. Probably cost me $700 in new caps one day, LOL
I sold these and SONY, Panasonic. In Australia service for them were not fun to deal when there was a problem.
Kenwood's service was infinitely better on the rare occasion of a problem . . . infinitely.

From what I can tell, SONY and Panasonic are still a case of the leopard's spots and JVC bought Kenwood.

@@DD4DA As per a response from Daniel: Took the site down as he is dealing with something but will reopen in the coming weeks.
I am not selling the Basic M2/M2A Modification kit any longer. I only install it in units that I service.
