He looks so smart in his uniform. We love our Gurkhas in the U.K., such kind humble men but have hearts of leopards. Brave and full of guile. Thank you for your service to all Gurkhas retired and still in service.
His smart turn-out, his pride and achievement, and the standards and commitment of his regiment contain lessons for us. They should not be assumed or taken for granted.
@@artgreen6915 they aren’t, trust me. Our people love them. They are treated as citizens when in civvy clothes shopping or something and are given the opportunity to live here and bring their family here with them or go back to Nepal at the end of their service. They earn the same pay as any other soldier and a full state military pension which makes them rich in Nepal. Many choose to return because money goes much further in Nepal. There is huge competition to get into the British Gurkhas in Nepal in our garrison base and it is the Royal British Gurkha Regiment these boys dream of joining, it is their first choice. They are always welcome here.
Feared by their enemies and held in the highest regards by their allies, Great Britain is blessed to have the Gurkha’s to fight side by side with us. Always welcome and we the British people thank you for your service.

Its an MVO not a DSO . A DSO cross would be more of Canterbury Cross with the crown in the middle while an MVO is a Maltese cross with a crown on the top portion of the cross with Queen Victoria's royal Cypher at the center.
@@togawearer2799he has served this country for nearly 3 decades and risked his life for it. What have you done? He deserves at least our thanks and citizenship. Fortunately all Gurkha's are automatically awarded residency after their service, but this only occured in 2004 I think, it was only in 1997 that they were awarded equal pay rates to British regulars
One of the best assests to serve in the Army. Grandad served alongside Gurkha's during the Burma campaign in WW2. So thank you sir, on his behalf & mine🫡
I'm not going to read any of the comments here. I just wanted to say, the Gurkhas were part of our close protection in Afghan. Valiant in their operations on Herrick 07. Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful their pension have been terribly hit.

@@kawagonzo6951 Wrong. The 1/7 Gurkha Rifles landed on the Falklands on the 1st of June, 1982 and although they were not heavily involved in fighting they undertook aggressive patrols and were advancing on Mount William when the Argentine forces surrendered. There is evidence that the Argentinians tried to surrender to other British forces rather than the Gurkhas after their own officers told them that if the were taken prisoner by Gurkhas they would be eaten. One company of Gurkhas guarding 500 Argentine prisoners were told just to smile at them if there was any sign of trouble, as the Argentines were so scared of them that a smile ftom them would terrify the Argentinian POW's.

The UK are very proud of and thankful to the brave Gurkhas. I think every Gurkha should be offered British citizenship if they want it. They arecnotcalways treated as respectfully as they should be by the Government.
My utmost respect to this Major who has worked through the ranks to reach this rank but as a ex guardsman in the brigade of foot guards we always have respect to the Gurkhas regiments
Had the chance to mingle with them a bit. Not in combat of course. All I can say is that these guys are some of the politest, most courteous, humble and warm people you will meet. If you did not even know what a Gurkha is, youd never even guess that they are elite soldiers.
He must have been The Queen's Ghurka orderly. The medal closest to his cross belt is a Royal Victorian Order, only given for service to the Royal Family.
Maximum respect to the Gurkhas and thankyou for your service 🇬🇧
