Gilla Band Live at The Windmill 1319pm 13.4.23 the irish allus sing along to their bands.... if these guys are irish. anyhow; not being irish, myself, i wonder why i did sing along to songs in the bath without much hassle recalling the words of various songs composed by various bands...? maybe the songs were really old songs before they hit the vinyl stores...? recalling, as i do, that a lot of music listened to was irish... or of a certain era... i find that i'm just "i'm just a normal guy"... who would rather listen to muzak than folk humping next door. did that wee irish lady say: i love you.. to someone or the band, earlier? that's how it is... ah, well ,we can't all like everything or everyone... but we try...

I received the vinyl in the mail Wednesday and my god this is certainly their best record and everything in my opinion they have done up till this record is wildly interesting and pulls you back in over and over once you are hooked. This record though is so strange and will require many relistens but off the bat I wanna hear it all over again. If you like noise rock this will likely be a special release for you as it is for me

I discovered this band only a few days ago. I keep listening to the second song (Fucking Butter). I'm stuck to that song. Can't get enough of it. Hope to get to the third song soon.

Yes, I had three sources for my audio for this one, A room recorder hanging in the rig around 3 or 4m from the PA speaker and stage, the camera audio, and also a recording from the desk which is particularly good for getting clean vocals, so it's a mix of all three. The lighting was pretty decent ( plenty bright ) which helps with the visuals. The black and white film simulation is awesome on that camera.
🙏. Hand held, but on a stabiliser, which helps. Still need to withstand the surging animal that is the crowd.. keeping my feet, my head and the shot are the challenge. Takes commitment. Great fun!
@@PompeySomerstown thanks for noticing. I did get knocked horizontal once and a couple of times fell onto my knee on the speakers, but just try to keep the camera on track. I do get a buzz from it when the audience is frothing over. Generally I find people are kinda looking out for me. I try to reciprocate by being as unimpeding to others as possible and yielding to the movement where I can. It definitely became an endurance event this one at over an hour and sweaty as a sweat lodge.
Thank you for filming and sharing this. Been a big fan of these since about 2014, before they released their debut LP. Still not seen them live but this show you captured is magic. Well done 😊

I just noticed that they always write their setlists on their hands. You can see at 50:16 Dara looks on his hand/wrist and in shots of their most recent KEXP performances they have black text on their hands.
I hope not, but given the nature of their name change it seems like they might have. What a shame, I don’t feel like it was hateful at all. As someone who’s going through some gender questions myself it really opened my mind to taking those thoughts seriously

I saw them in Newcastle and they were soooo good. The crowd was so active I walked the 3 miles back to my car in a t shirt in January at 11pm!

There’s a poetic quality to the vocals especially…but they never get compared to early The Fall? Has the same disjointed, fragmented feel to it often…
