This was a great run of shows. Jerry was looking good and sounding good as well! I chose to go to a couple shows at the spectrum and this was my only one at MSG. So glad I was there and my buddy gave me the full recording which of course disintegrated long ago. Thanks for posting this!
My first ever New York City show, and a real gem. Got a fine version of Dylan's "Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again" which is probably my favorite Dylan cover the Grateful Dead performed,.. Garcia was on top of his game this night, New York City seemed to bring out a bit of extra energy in him.
Saint Dominic's Review - Native NYer here, so I’m biased....🥰...great first NY show for you! My fave Dylan cover is “Masterpiece”, by far, but I also like “Memphis Blues”...Jerry had a little bit of a rough start w “ToG” - not even the usual smile on his face, even had his brow furrowed - but he came roaring back right away w “GSET”...
I love when theres no set list because thats when its usually an awesome show! just like if you were going there...you wouldnt know what was gonna play before it did
This show was a Monday in NYC, it beat the sat nite Philly show with a stick, amazing show on many levels, covers, obscure, guest gift female singer, great encores to start a 6 night run
Jane Lane - if I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a million times...East coast shows are never like others (always something negative about the east coast)...now I’m a native NYer, so maybe I’m biased, but I went to every MSG show I could manage and I had a blast every time, and this show was no different!! Ok, was EVERY MSG show magical? No...like I said, I’m a little biased...🥰...but I went to great and not great shows around the country, and I refer to both the music AND the vibe/energy/people when I say great/not great. This show proves the east coast could hold its own!! Beautiful Row Jimmy and kickin GDTRFB!!!!! Loved Edie!!! What a great show!!!
I had a strong desire to NOT listen to a great man commit suicide, so SLOWLY.... There is some really unlistenable stuff from 1980 to 1995, and so much great, impeccable music I can just ALWAYS find something wonderful. But, I came to realize, Garcia's story IS part of life, and perhaps, a lesson or two lurks there.
He actually had preamp in his guitar that had highs they literally do not include anymore because they said people were not used to the frequencies.... Well we as dead fans love them so make an early 90s special preamp again and make it the Jerry Garcia model!!
@@dogfacedboy6947 u think??? It was a great one I was there..... surprised to see Edie Brickell... that was the weekend she married Paul Simon...... going down the Road was my Pop's favorite song... he would have loved that one.
This was my 1st MSG/NYC Dead show, the energy they brought was unreal. I saw them the prev sat in Philly and wasnt very impressed. The entire day was monday as a motherfxxxer stressed out, total day long nightmare, but when they hit the stage i knew in for something special! Definitely in my top 5 of shows by the Dead.

Lazy River Road 7. Johnny B. Goode I haven't listened to the second set yet, but that looks right for the time frame. Thanks :-)
I was at a friend's house taking bong hits. My friends had the classifieds out calling scalpers from Charleston SC...they got one on the phone while i was sitting there..."u wanna go?" "Yeah what the hell!?" My first of many shows...still going. Grateful!!
Vince brought a sencititive to jerry's playing, he got the same vibe, so creative, jerry was versitile, the group was ,Vince gave more room,Keith was beautiful
Jerry was basically putting it out there to wind the party down because he was obviously going to pass and more and more people kept showing up because freedom and colorful expression is king and key for imaginative peaceful expression to be given the chance to grow...

I’m so impressed with your work ..and thanks for bringing me home again
The guys in this band were extremely generous in giving Vince the opportunity to sing Baba O'Riley and Tomorrow Never Knows. By all rights he should have been dismissed from the band six months into his tenure when it became clear that he still hadn't been able to learn the songs and they'd need another year of backup from Bruce Hornsby.
+blain gullum man im off today. edie brickell. I knew that and the other "?'s" I asked or said. early morning oil and coffee combo has me all skeetered up
Sept 20 1993 my 1st NY MSG show, first time at the worlds most famous, and well worth the stress angst and aggravation only a Monday can provide. The baba/tommorow was a perfect end to a 10.0 show!
Dam.... after 45 years of listening to the GD (the best band in history) almost every day.... I can honestly say..... that encore SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!! What a terrible way to end a show.....
@@toddmorrissey8372 I detest Vince and I think his musical talent could not fill a thimble - an atrocious, disastrous choice to succeed Brent - but I also think this cover was not as awful as I expected it would be, and could have been brought up to respectable, performable level had the band actually ever rehearsed it instead of just winging it.
@@humanbeing2420 Believe me, i agree with everything you've said and I think the band hiring Vince was possibly the biggest misstep in the band's career. They do themselves any favors by hiring him. But man....he sure had a set of balls to go out the way he did. And right in front of his wife too.
The 90s were great the water flowed pure as the music beautiful

I was at this show and I somehow forgot how beautiful the Row Jimmy was! Thank you Jerry for going deep within while pulling so much out. RIP Captain
Never gets old, does it?

'93 was a good year all-around. For the second time Jerry returned after a heath scare. Toured with Sting that summer. An interesting juxtaposition!
Definitely in the top 10 of most interesting times of a life, ever..
My last show. Thanks for shooting and posting.

He meant in thanks in general I think , but I swear I read early Vince then your comment corrected that so we all help each other lol
I like this video. It's as blurry, yet sonically clean, as I remember

The Edie Brickell stuff in "Space" is super freaky. Awesome.

That Row Jimmy is divine.
i like the 1:33:14 mk- - nice tribal rhythms and ambient percussive jam from there- listen for the strange female vocalist at the 1:45:00 mk
Eddie Bríckel you mean
love this one
sounds like Jerrys guitar sound when out at 20:15 during Jimmy Row, otherwise epic. Check it out :?
Whooooo what nights were these dreamy man
Best row jimmy ever
Watch Jerry in Jimmy. Lazy a bit but still totally engaged. If only he was still here..
I was at a friend's house taking bong hits. My friends had the classifieds out calling scalpers from Charleston SC...they got one on the phone while i was sitting there..."u wanna go?" "Yeah what the hell!?" My first of many shows...still going. Grateful!!
Awesome
Do it Jerry let the love flow
As he allows the heroin to flow through his viens
Good setlist here, a Dylan cover and a Who cover.
Watching this. Hearing Vince play so well; I can't help but feel Brent's death was the first foreboding event to Jerry's demise
Was at this show!
I just bought a tattered shirt from this show. Had to give it a listen 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Vince brought a sencititive to jerry's playing, he got the same vibe, so creative, jerry was versitile, the group was ,Vince gave more room,Keith was beautiful
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
A+
So Many Roads, He's Gone, & Baba O'Riley are sick!!!
Jerry was basically putting it out there to wind the party down because he was obviously going to pass and more and more people kept showing up because freedom and colorful expression is king and key for imaginative peaceful expression to be given the chance to grow...
Killer Drums
I believe this was the run where I jumped out of a car moving at like 20mph on the highway and almost got run over and skinned my knees.

What the hell with the ads lol? 3 in the first song? Too much!
Fall 93 was Jerry’s last solid era . It’s sad how fast he declined after 😢
The guys in this band were extremely generous in giving Vince the opportunity to sing Baba O'Riley and Tomorrow Never Knows. Sept.__ 1993??? Can someone please confirm the actual date of this concert.

Edie should have been the new Donna-Jean when Brett passed away.
But Jerry was lookin good and hot in 92, 93 , 94
Bruce hornsby was liquid
whose the woman?
Edie Brickell

Another man not afraid to be honest
You can blame Vince for that, amd lottsa other stuff that made his era of the band, the weakest part.
