A patched head hunters gang member has been sentenced to life imprisonment at the Auckland high court on Thursday the 27 the July 2023.
Mikaere Puata-Chaney, 28, a patched Head Hunters member, was sentenced after pleading guilty to the double murder of his ex-partner, Eliza Trubuhovich, and her father, Geoffrey Trubuhovich in Auckland on 15th July 2022.
The tragic incident occurred at a property at Barrys Road, in Glendene, Auckland, where Eliza and her family resided.
Despite having broken up several months before, Mikaere and Eliza continued to share custody of their dog, Rocka, and remained in contact. However, Mikaere's jealousy towards the possibility of Eliza being with another man was evident, leading to heated arguments between them.

I'm confused, being an American when we get life in prison that means we aren't ever getting out, ever, so how come in new Zealand he was sentenced to life but can get out in 20 years? That's a sentence of 20 years, not life.
That only means he's eligible for parole after 20years,so it's life in prison with a chance of parole after serving 20. In Cases like this we need to bring back the death penalty.

I here'd in this that a lesser sentence was given, because of being brought up in gang life, this is the most despicable thing I have ever here'd. my family are victims from a family member being murdered from people that are gang related and are still to this day. the system in New Zealand is corrupt in the defence of the offender.
