- The Northern Illinois Huskies pulled off the upset over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 22-21. After Georgia Tech took the lead in the 4th Quarter, the Huskies scored a touchdown and converted the 2-point conversion for the win. After the Yellow Jackets’ quarterback, Jeff Simms, was injured in the first half, freshman QB Jordan Yates made his college debut. Yates threw for 136 yards and a touchdown and rushed for another TD.
All GeorgiaTech fans freaking out, calm down. NIU has been doing this for years now. Just ask Alabama, Maryland, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue etc.. They probably have a 50% win rate against the power conferences in the last 20 years.

And yeah looking back at their past seasons they have beaten and almost beaten some pretty decent school

Thank you for the condensed version. I hate the outcome, but I am hopeful that the team will learn from this. I don't believe that it's time to get rid of the coach, but I am interested in seeing the adjustments. GO JACKETS!!!

Honestly if you must know... that niu defense held the offense scoreless for 3 quarters .. and if that wasn't a acc officiating crew... it may have been a blow out.. side note tons of beautiful women in Atlanta.. kudos to the ladies
True, however, Simms was massively off the first quarter. Overthrowing wide open receivers, two easy TD's plus the FG kicking was horrible. As far as could of been a blowout, if it wasn't from the refs. What call are you referring to? Obviously not the Tech touchdown that got over turned. The two point play at the end they let stand. The fumble when the Tech player was clearly down. Most of those calls favored NIU
@@qjking322 simms wasn't just of... he was shut down... the defensive pressure was too much for him... these were live bullets not 7 on 7 or a practice situation

Obviously you didn’t see last years Northwestern and Michigan games. When you had an o line like a sieve and no running game you aren’t going to look all the time. NIU got a steal getting Lombardi. He is a real team player and leader. He never criticized any decisions by the MSU staff. Did what they wanted. Never thru any of his team mates under the bus for dropped passes, fumbles and missed blocks. NIU gain is MSU loss.

I like how the highlight of the GT back fumbling/ not fumbling 😏 was excluded 😂😂. I also love some comments about “well we missed 2 FGs”. Well if NIU doesn’t have the fumble recovery TD overturned and hadn’t gotten flagged for the illegal formation on the punt muff by GT, thats 14 more NIU points.
Yeah, you could go all day with stuff like that though. I mean Simms over through two easy touch downs in the first half, and several open throws. The fumble thing he was down, so I guess if there was no replay like the old days, you would have a point

I don’t think coaching is the problem. The players need to execute. Sims missed many opportunities to hit receivers that were open. Gonna have to step up mentally when he returns

the play at 22:05 the QB looks like he goes across the LOS then cames back and makes a pass. I didn't catch that while watching live.
Whole body has to completely pass before you're considered past the LOS. He could technically throw the ball with his entire body past the LOS save for his big toe and it would be a legal forward pass.

Quick answer? Paul Johnson. You can’t recruit top athletes to play in that crappy offense. In fact, he prided himself in that it didn’t take 5 star athletes to run it. And they let him stay there for over 10 years all the while watching the program sink into obscurity. Gonna take a long time to right the ship

As a tech fan, you are correct with the question. It's year 3 and these are actually better recruits than we have seen compared to the past decade. Really bad coaching decisions, and seemingly shell shocked Simms killed us. I expected more from this team this year, gonna be a long season.
