    if only we could go back in time and feel their footsteps shake the ground and feel their vocalizations vibrate the air around us. Even seeing the fossils in person, our brains can't possibly grasp just how big these creatures were. Rad video.

    What about Bruhathkayosaurus? I’ve heard that’s now the largest estimated sauropod. Like always I appreciate your videos.

      There have certainly been some pretty competitive size estimates thrown around informally but no size estimates have been officially published in a paper so I thought I’d stick with these ones for now. Like I said considering how much things can change with new findings, I’m hesitant to be too sensationalist about things I haven’t directly studied, so when someone publishes official size estimates in a paper, I’ll definitely come back to this 😊

      The fossil was found in southern India it disintegrated due to improper handling and weather conditions. Now is lost 😢.

    About that, considering Bruhatkayosaurus was validified recently, It's likely it was the largest

      Yeah I’ve certainly heard it’s in the runnings but I decided not to touch on it just because no official size estimates have been published so far

    I don’t believe that Perucetus was bigger than the Blue whale. I think that over the course of time, as with so many other animals, the estimates will decrease. I believe it will be shown that Perucetus was about 75% the size of a Blue.

      Yeah that does tend to happen with size estimates, which is why I’m always hesitant to say yay or nay, guess only time will tell!

    Would the size limit of egg shells be potentially greater in prehistoric higher oxygen environments?

    • @nichhodge8503
      @nichhodge8503 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That wouldn’t make a difference as it’s to do with how thick of a shell oxygen can penetrate, you could have that egg in a box with only oxygen in it (in a lab setting) but that oxygen still will only be absorbed through a maximum thickness. And because the shell can only have a maximum thickness, it will have a maximum amount of weight it can hold before breaking so that’s how they’ve come up with the egg’s maximum size

    People constantly talking about Bruhatkayosaurus being the biggest when all of its remains are literally gone and there is no fossils of it left so all of the estimates you get for it are not reliable, like at all

    So the mighty & just Brontosaurus is no longer the biggest dinosaur? Wtf?

    • @TheSpiritombsableye
      @TheSpiritombsableye 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For what you understood as a brontosaurus has never existed. It was a misnomer of a frankenstein of 2 other dinosaurs. That does lead to the name being open to new nomenclature and another discovery took the name. Neither version was ever a contender for any size record.

    • @siddiquenadir44
      @siddiquenadir44 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheSpiritombsableyeBrontosaurus is same as Apatosaurus. One Apatosaurus specimen was misidentified as a new species and names Brontosaurus but later discovered to be Apatosaurus.
      Hence Apatosaurus was named first so it is called Apatosaurus.
