The Trap of Feeling Sorry for Yourself - Self Pity

  • How To Get Out Of Self-Pity. Self-pity is a magnet that draws bad things to you. It keeps you immobile, always looking inward, and rarely toward God. When God didn’t approve of Cain’s offering he got into self-pity instead of asking God where he was wrong. He continued down the road of self-pity and then self-destruction.

    So many jewels in this!! ✨💎 I hadn’t thought of the concept of self-pity in ages! THANK YOU for reminding us that this is a sin, and that we cannot give into the things coming against us or let them push us down.
    Like you said here, 35:24, in the nine ways to fight it, we have to remain thankful and mount up with wings like eagles-renewing our strength in the Lord! 🦅
    Peggy, you are such a blessing. It always uplifts my spirits to listen to you. You’re such a comfort-like getting loving advice from a very wise grandmother. Thank you for letting God use you to strengthen all of us. You are a treasure!! So thankful for you! 🙏🏻❤️

    Thank you...and thank God for, and using you.
    Life is Always good--because it is GOD-- it is our perceptions that place the blame on Life instead of us who are to cleave" to His Word, or to Him.
    satan is death, and we have no rightful place with Him. (1 John 1 l.1-3)

    Self pity: rejection and self rejection is like a magnet. Recognize it....a sorry for one's own misfortune. A victim spirit. An identity of failures. Negative mind thoughts. No purpose. Infects relationships. Luke 15:11-12.

    Peggy Ruth's sermon hits me where it hurts. ❤️👍❤️👍
    She's only wrong about Job's wife: Job's (nameless) wife did not endure 40 chapters of Job complaining: his wife was so triggered that already in Job 2:9 she said to Job, "Why don't you curse God and die?"
    That must have doubly tormented Job!!!
    Significantly, the devil did NOT remove Job's wife from his life... 😏

    I realise that I have been living in self pity most of my life.
    I have chronic illness and am mostly bed ridden. I get angry and frustrated because I can't do what I used to be able to do. I get angry at God because he hasn't healed me. I need to repent and realise that I can still pray for myself and others, I can be an encourager, I can study His word, and I can praise and worship.
    God is Holy and He is in control.

      @Wendy, oh my heart goes out to you, and what a beautiful comment! ❤
      I too struggle with health issues and am not doing nearly as much as I’d like, but you’re so right that we can encourage, pray for others and study God’s Word!! 🙏🏻 📖
      Also, I want to make sure you know about CFS recovery stories on TH-cam. You can just search for them, and you might get some ideas.
      One big thing that’s helping people finally get well is brain retraining. Basically, it’s retraining the nervous system to relax, because you can be happy and at peace, but if your nervous system is stuck in fight or flight, the body cannot heal.
      Peggy has some great videos on healing and was very sick herself for many years. I need to review those!
      Much love to you! ❤

    Thank you Lord Almighty for this message this morning, You showed me the self-pity in myself, and You also provided the answer on how to get out of it. Although everything that happened is true, painfull, You want to prevent me and every child of you to sin against You, and making our own lives miserable. Amen. Thank you for a live changing message🐞♥️🐞

    Is it ever okay to feel bad about a situation that you faced or are facing as a Christian or it all self pity and wrong?

    • @cheryltauer8324
      @cheryltauer8324 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not when it's hurting yourself or others baby

    • @Userkvlnk
      @Userkvlnk หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would say it's okay. If we didn't feel sorry for ourselves, We would let Satan do whatever he wants with us, throw all kinds of tragedies, calamites, diseases, abusive treatment on us and we would accept it, try to persuade ourselves to stay strong and just keep bearing this burden daily cause we are "very strong",like What does it hurt to always stay neutral and strong and never say "no" to those situations, never complain, never grieve the robbed happiness...

    • @pietercloete8490

      I think we all have been wronged and experienced unfair situations. Staying in the self pity robs us of joy and shuts God out of our heart- reacting in the flesh. Peggy gave 9 excellent points how to overcome the prison of self pity! Staying there only hurts ourselves, not the person/ situation that wronged us.
      Yes, there are legitimate reasons to feel sorry for ourselves. No, we cannot stay there.

    Isaiah 47:9 (KJV) But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.
