    I have to stop you at saying they are made overseas. Maybe the material is made overseas but the awning, when I purchased mine, was made in Malden, MASS. They have since moved to Texas. Last I heard, neither state was "overseas". I'm happy with mine and it does significantly cool my deck area a lot by cutting of the suns rays on the deck that reflect back up to make it hot to be on the deck. My only grievance with them is their customer service. I told them my awning, nice and level, was collecting rain in the center if it was open and it rained. I got an answer on TH-cam from an installer(not a Sunsetter one) that showed me how. I never got an answer from Sunsetter. Took the money and ran, but I do like the awning. Got a free wind sensor with it that retracts the awning when there's a high wind so it doesn't blow off the mounting.

    I’ve owned the manual 1000xt retractable Sunsetter awning for 5 years and love it. My wife and I installed it in one day. It takes me 10 minutes to roll it up for the winter. i like how I don’t need to wait for an awning service to do any of the work for me and there isn’t a forest of awning support poles after I get done. The awning itself is water proof and washable with laundry detergent. Price was $2800.0 for the complete awning including the rainaway arches and side curtain. My neighbor got the traditional canvas awning, similar size and paid over $15,000.00!

    Bought a custom home and it gets so hot on the back (south) deck. The 2, 20 foot Sunsetter Awnings make the deck bearable, and sun off the house and windows. And I can keep the awning out a couple feet or further out, depending on the sun location. The wind sensors send it back in, and have settings inside near the batteries.

And most of the things they say are true. Up 20 degrees believe it or not. Most people hate on these because they never owned one. As so did I. And trust me grandmas love these.

    isn't the reason you'd want it to retract is because if it storms really bad it doesn't get damaged or destroyed?

  • @NickkaDUB
    @NickkaDUB 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    She says “about 20 degrees” because it fluctuates.
    I sell them and a lot of them will make it 30+ degrees cooler. Even if it’s only 20* less than 115*, you will absolutely appreciate it.
    I had to change the motor in one yesterday and even at 8am, it’s still hot ass balls in the sun. A lot of decks have windows, sliding doors, paints and other things that reflect the sun making it hotter than normal.
    You may not think 20-30* is much, but when that sun is beating down on you it is unbearable to be out there. The second that awning blocks out the sun, you definitely feel better.
    I sell for Sunsetter and a better company called Sunesta and have sold numerous others.
    I do think they’re overpriced, but comparing them to a new roof or sunroom makes them a very good choice.
    Both of those companies along with a few others use the same Somfy motor.
    The Christmas Tree Store as well as a few others sell these awnings without a motor for around $200-$300 instead of $3000+. Those are not sold with a motor, but you can get this attachment for $30 for your drill/impact or make your own for about $3. These will connect your drill to the handcrank so you don’t have to manually put it in and out. Putting it out is easy, but back in is tough for some older folks or anyone with health issues.

    I'll tell you from experience, shade never takes 20° off of 115f temps, it's more like 5°. Also that breeze is more like a hairdryer in your face, so you might as well go inside. The best solution it built a real awning and mount misters around the perimeter.

    *You think this running from 2017 makes the limited time offer a joke, this is the same commercial from like 15 years ago. Word for word. They used the original for so long that 3 times they had to change it because the price changed. They used to just dub over the price (horribly) every time it changed. I got a ALEKO replacement awning for $53.00 and it fits. Now the motor is out, $620.00 to replace? I see one on WayFair for $136.00 but will it fit and work? Has anyone tried this replacement motor DM45R and does it work? After reading other comments, I agree, just leave it out. I can use the crank when its windy, storming and hailing, and when its time to wrap up the season cover it with the flap provided. I guess I don't need it motorized.
