Community ahead of profits, what a noble business owner. This goes back to the traditional Chinese values of taking care of the elderly. I truly respect this man!
I miss downtown Chinatown. I miss my old downtown Chinatown even more back when I was in grade school at Lord Lansdowne. Back when my grandparents lived across the street from Olivia Chow. Back when North America's best char siu could he found at Kom Jug Yuen. Back when all the big dim sum places had push cart service, and you had a minimum of a 15min wait at each of them on Sundays. When buses ran up and down Spadina. Things have changed so much since then. Push cart service dim sum is long gone except for maybe 2 spots. Large franchises have slowly been invading. Nrlew buildings giving off a monochrome vibe. The change isn't all bad. It's cleaner now than I could ever recall, and a lot of those hard edges and attitudes have softened.
i've walked by this store many times but never visited. i've typically gone to mashion a little bit down the street but this video made me want to visit! the buns looked great and the owner seems like a genuinely good person. will definitely come by here more often
