Thank you for showing video on the device. I haven't seen other reviewers talk about that feature. I was looking for a laptop replacement that was easier on the eyes for studying. I have a couple lectures each week I need to watch along with readings and this seems manageable.
I have boox tab ultra B&W version. It's extremely good or students and professionals. It reduces eye strain, and it's great for note-taking. Its not that fast as LCD and it helps with focus!
I was thinking of getting this because I need something to write on but something that can translate into text format. Is this something that can do that because this seems a lot better than remarkable?
After ~4 months of using this the "premium" pen is broken near the tip and won't hold nibs any more, this was an addon when I bought it . I've gone through most of the nibs, they were out excessively quickly compared to most pen tablets. 5 dinky plastic replacement nibs are WAYYYY to expensive for what they are. Handwriting recognition is pretty good, except you can't convert handwriting on the page in-place. Reading good, handwriting good, battery life good, everything else don't bother. Quality is kinda garbage and expect to be buying replacement parts.
Nice honest review. I like the comments at the end about slowing down the 'distraction attractions' to help focus on work. I have been looking at e-ink and boox for a while and I am going to sink the cost into this one to give it a try. Thanks
@@1anre I tried it and just didn’t like the usefulness enough so I returned it (cost me a little in the refund). I am still interested in the concept but I decided to go with a 2 in 1 windows based pc with an 16” OLED screen. - I needed a new computer for my LLC business needs and this will allow me to do both. I’ll continue to watch but I like the idea, just think the model was a little to small for me - I would be interested in the A4 full size and a bit more computing power/windows based option but they don’t exist yet. Good luck.
I went with Samsung galaxy book 4 pro 360. It hurts to spend so much for these electronic (my previous pc is a $500 acer I still use) but I decide to try and future proof for hopefully at least 5 years - got the business version with 32g or ram and 1 TB for 1699 minus some discount I qualify for and the business allows for full 5 year warranty for 200. Still twice as much as I hoped to pay and 4 times my last windows. Ughh. I see smart notes has shown the A5 x2 mock today. But said its release is delayed. I am still interested in this eink concept but I’ll see if my 2 in 1 substitutes for it - I certainly can’t afford trying one for a while. Good luck - I’ll be watching these reviews.
I know there are benefits to E-ink displays but I just cannot imagine spending so much money on something so basic. When I buy an iPad, I feel like it is good for lots of stuff, including reading and writing. But an E-ink tablet is really good for reading and writing but bad for everything else. For focusing, I see why the e-ink would help increase focus as reading on screens takes a hit on concentration and understanding. I am still in camp iPad, good video though.
@@1anre This tablet is priced at 549.99 euro with a pen and all. the ipad starts at 419 euro. So you can buy an ipad + a kindle for the price of this and get a way better tablet and a good enough eink reader. b&w though, but color eInk is not very optimal yet.
I really really liked the reMarkable but the way you dunked on it and make this Book Ultra C Pro a bettter alternative and that it doesn't have a monthly sub makes it a better buy for me. But that $650 price point is still on the high side
I was wondering about these. I often import pages from textbooks into OneNote and make notes. Is there lag when you are writing? Do you know how this Ink Tablet compares to the Remarkable tablet?
I haven't tried the Remarkable but there isn't any noticeable lag when writing, I only have experience using my iPad + Paperlike screen protector and this is a much better writing experience imo
What’s the difference between Kindle Scribe vs Remarkable 2 vs BOOX Note Air3 Series? My usage is to taking notes from whatever I’m learning for that I usually to do it by writing down the learning and making my owns notes that can be available anytime and anywhere to read it again.
Not too sure about the Kindle but I know the Remarkable is pretty much only for notetaking and not much else, while the BOOX has a lot more Android tablet capabilities! Depends on what you’re looking for!
Any civil engineers who use e-ink tablet? I wonder if any model could display tables, charts, graphs and rebar detailing like the pdf book "Design of RC structures"? Thanks in advance if you can share your own experience and model.
I don't have an online video, but I do own the Boox Tab Ultra (b/w) with keyboard, an Ipad Pro 11 (with magic keyboard) and the Supernote A6X2. 1. I use the iPad the most, as it is the most versatile device and the Magic Keyboard is the fastest keyboard I've ever used on typing speed tests. Pen feel is bad for note taking, but the raster and vector art apps like ProCreate and Fresco make it great for art. 2. I use the Supernote Nomad to doodle, brainstorm, and to make To Do lists. The pen-on-paper feel is second to none. It's a LOT of fun to play with, and the ceramic nib tricks your brain into thinking you are using paper. I haven't had this much fun goofing off with an electronic device in years. 3. I hardly ever touch the Boox ... it is a capable device and runs android apps, but the pen feel is "meh." The keyboard folio is good ... but not as good as the ipad. Just my impressions as someone who's used these three different gadgets.
Enjoyed the Video! I you export the notes to a PKM like Notion. I have an IPad M4 but I do not like the feel of writing either Apple Pencil. I love the IPAD but can’t is it for meeting Notes. So it would be part of my Tech Ecosystem, This , IPAD and the Mac Book Air
Hey cool videos. What’s the link like back to a laptop or desktop for pushing notes and marking up say a pdf for a lecture. Like does it work with OneDrive etc? Thanks!
You can have split screen so on one side you have video and on the other notes. But if the app support playing video at the corner, when you are in other apps, I think it is possible to write notes with it.
I bought the same one and I hate it. It's extremely slow, and the templates suck so bad. The mouse cursor is just terrible. I wanted to like this Boox ultra C pro, but I regret buying it. Don't waste your money everyone you're going to regret it. I have a kindle and it blows it out of the water in speed. Update The screen stopped working, and the manufacturer wants me to pay 300 dollars and the shipping cost to send and return. Not a trust worthy company. Do not buy.
@@merson812 No problem bro. Just speaking the truth. I am going to put my review on Amazon soon I might also make a video and put it there. I may also out it on youtube.
E-Ink tech is amazing, we should have more screens like this. I would kill to have a phone with a E-Ink display. Now E-Ink with a Blackberry keyboard....godly!
Why this over remarkable pro? Android 12, videos and apps other than just a browser and note taking or reading books is the sole purpose of these, and the only things which actually works due to display and hardware. So why choose something worse at what it’s made for than the others with better quality in the areas actually made for? Like the Remarkable pro?
Still waiting on an E-Ink that doesn't have WiFi (only Bluetooth), doesn't have a camera, has an USB-C port, and maybe even a normal USB port, and that runs on a specialized Linux OS with no bloat. If you need to transfer files, just plug it in, drag and drop; simple, I don't need to go on the web, that's what I have my computer and phone for, I don't need a camera, it just adds complexity and takes up space. Every single E-Ink on the market right now doesn't go the full mile, and it's frustrating because all they need to do is remove things, not add new things.
You might want to look at older e-ink devices. I had a sony ereader with stylus and touch capabilities like 15-16ish years ago that fit most of what you want. It was still wifi capable i think. But with a web browser that old you wont be able to visit most websites nowadays. I think it also had a physical wifi switch that you could just leave off. It predates usb C of course, but mini or micro usb is plenty. Some older devices can also be jailbroken to be whatever you want of them. Idk if what i had is one of them
No, I don't need another tablet, and frankly, I'm SICK of tablets! You can't even save your work on the Boox ecosystem to an SD card - at least not with the GO 10.3. Didn't know there and b&w version
2-3 days battery is pretty bad for an e-ink
yeah fair, I know Kindles last way longer but this is pretty much an Android tablet
I mean it does alot more than a normal e ink display so rhats to be expected
It has a light and color and that’s 1/3 what my remarkable gets which has none of those
@@car_tar3882you mean yours doesn't last up to 3 days?
