I live in Mississippi and can tell you that this is NOT the norm. I'm glad to see great management working well on this property, however, in most cases in our state, our liberal game laws and lengthy seasons work against quality deer management. For example, we have no real mandatory tagging or check-in system for deer. Also, baiting is legal here, so you end up with neighbors with little to no acreage shooting every deer they see, therefore growing a deer to maturity is almost impossible in most areas. We have tremendous potential, but if you're going to shoot bucks out of your backyard, it's an uphill battle for everyone!

Hour or so west of Hattiesburg We have good hunting as far as population and some decent racks from time to time but it’s not the land of giants like the MS River area even with big body deer

True, you gotta draw limited hunts on WMAs in the delta if you want a public land chance for a big buck
Well we do have an electronic check in system people are supposed to use but it’s used more during turkey season than deer season
