I’m so used to my electronic parking brake now that I’d find it difficult to go back to the manual type now. It’s really convenient, especially with hill starts.

@@DaneTygheletsdrive will I be marked down if I don't physically touch the electric Handbrake to release it on a hill start? It's convenient but I feel the driving instructor will say I am not showing the skill of releasing the Handbrake. At the same time if I want to release the Handbrake physically, my vehicle tells me to press on the brake pedal which can not happen on a hill start because 1 leg will be on the clutch and the other one on the accelerator.
Please advise on what to do on the test day

    It’s a really dangerous system
If I put the parking brake on it should stay on till it’s released that’s what it’s for
Put the parking brake on and leave it in drive now get out the car and then just touch the throttle peddle and the car just shoots off with no driver very safe.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive

Not really but the tester will probably want you to demonstrate that you can use the regular handbrake and that's why some of the testers ask you to switch off the auto hold for the hill start so it's a bit more realistic. Sometimes the auto hold is a bit awkward when creeping out at a junction but it depends on the car.
