One of the most talented pianists now! The last waltz you played in this video, the Waltz in A is one of the most beautiful piece ever written! So simple, but so wonderful!
Ms.Ott is also a great scholar having plus sharing her intellect / insight into the artists she plays so masterfully.Thank You Ms,Ott. ///////Bravo !!!
To 705RC and Bloodgrss... I only in the last few days have stumbled upon Miss Ott in the TH-cam world and I think for once we all agree that she is a very fine pianist and musician.
The Polish people should be very proud to have such a great patriotic CITIZEN - Chopin !!! Let's all pray and thank Chopin for creating such piece of beautiful music.
Her interpretation of Chopin is sublime. It was worth the effort to track down a copy of her work on Compact Disc for the superior sound quality over an iTunes download.
Alice has always been a wonderful sensitive artist with a high caliber of technique. She's fortunate that DG decided to pick her up because the classical music world is awash in brilliant artists, and having THE premiere classical music record co. behind her puts her right up there with the likes of Helene, Yuja and Maria Joao. Which isn't to say she doesn't deserve to be...she does. And we are fortunate because, being ASO fans we benefit from her having the most powerful label in the world backing her. __J Joe (also a composer of a Piano Concerto No 2 in C Minor)
From the age of twelve, she studied at the Salzburg Mozarteum with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling [1] while continuing her school education in Munich. Ott has won awards at a number of piano competitions, including first prize at the 2004 Pianello Val Tidone Competition. She has made recordings of Franz Liszt's Transcendental Etudes and Frédéric Chopin's waltzes for Deutsche Grammophon, and is currently performing concert tours in Europe, Japan, and the United States.
These waltzes are as perfect as music ever can be. I'm waiting and hoping for the Preludes and the Etudes. This is how Chopin played, according to his contemporaries.
YES absolutely sent from heaven and particularly with 3 beats in the bar! Heavenly beautiful phrasing and timing. It is all about Ichtus! When beat has to fall- not before and at the necessary instant with no delay. How beauty is transmitted by her playing! And she smiles when she plays!
@toorn2 I didn't say there aren't supreme pianists nowadays, I only meant that Lipatti's version is sublime. Maybe you didn't read my message "entirely" ;)
Lipatti was the greatest. Such a pity those recordings taken from Vinil records have not the accuracy of the nowadays CD-s...this is a loss for all great pianists from the first half of 20-th century..
@renatoaranha not only chopins of lipatti, also Scarlatti's he was amazing. don't forget the new artists benefit the quality recording which he didn't had the chance to benefit as well .
True...but this is what they give us today. They take a pianist, they make overwhelming publicity to his (her) name, they get their money back and then this is what we get...no art, just notes...
+Frank Stola u can wear a blindfold instead of turning down the lights especially for urself and possible guests---you know alice I have been bombarding myself this month with classical piano music videos---the left hand on every pianist and composer---dead--chopins revolutionary e-tude--a song in need ---I shall mimick the dead left handers first then add a bit of virtuoisity which isn't my aim musically--my aim musically is not to obtain skill but to write memorable music which would get all and in every different - way - manner and way----frank
What are you smokin' Hubert? My comment was in counter to an insulting troll of this fine young pianist-not a critique of her... You need to read and ponder more carefully if you want to engage yourself in old quarrels-and not let your attraction for a young artist cloud your judgement of reality...

Oh my god , please don't speak about Lipatti ! Please do not torture us with what were all ultimate and absolute versions ! And let us enjoy all these empty , uninteresting and snobbish interpretations of today .
A rare jewel in the world of classical pianists. Truly beautiful.
It explodes in me. The piano is probably only a small part of their infinite depth of feeling. I love her.
Like it. The sound of the piano and her voice is very comfortable. Hope her grandmother can hear it too. Alice Sara Ott

even though she's half-Japanese, she speaks English with a perfect German Akkkzent! What could be more lovely than this!
music is not a contest....it's a matter of feelings
The soundtrack to my morning commute lately.
Very smooth and moving interpretation.
Very wonderful piano playing!!!!!*****♪♪♪♪♪♪

Loved this.......:)
Alice S. Ott nos recuerda que todos somos parte de la historia humana.
I heard a phenomenal live performance on KBAQ of Pictures at an Exhibition. Most passionate and thrilling.
Fascinantemente hermosa..
Je pourrais l'écouter toute la journée et la regarder aussi
Elle est très belle, j'aime son visage

most beautiful woman alive!

I listen Alice's Piano Sound, It is so wonderful sound.
I feel her Japanese sensitivity, and She wants the truth of freedom to play the piano.
She answers that very question is at 4:36.
It would be a pleasure to see you Sara make a collaboration with Nigel Kennedy ❤️❤️
@BytomGirl This track IS included on the Waltz CD, however.
To see her in denim playing piano in that industrial setting reminds me of Jack Nicholson in FIVE EASY PIECES.
Amb tanta delicadesa! So empfindlich!
@BytomGirl She's talking about the second one i think. She said: "Waltz opus 34 no.2"
@toorn2 I didn't say there aren't supreme pianists nowadays, I only meant that Lipatti's version is sublime. Maybe you didn't read my message "entirely" ;)
She makes that slight A minor posthumous waltz into a mini-masterpiece!
Lipatti was the greatest. Such a pity those recordings taken from Vinil records have not the accuracy of the nowadays CD-s...this is a loss for all great pianists from the first half of 20-th century..
Does anyone know the title of the piece that she played for her grandmother through the phone? Because I cant find the sheet music. Thank You
Chopin waltz a-moll No. 11
wonderfull
@BytomGirl Indeed. A piece of nice music can sharpen up my brain & activate my deep emotion for life.
a bit of a cheesy publicity stunt in this vid - but i've no doubt she's sincere in her thoughts on Chopin - and she plays his music just beautifully
...descarta la primero, hay que ser sincero ...
Yeah but they probably did all the camera, editing, and makeup stuff for free, if she had ads in the video. She is still talented.
@renatoaranha I totally agree with you.
Could somebody please let me know what's the theme at the beginning of the documentary? Thanks

Do you know "OMD": Only Music in the Dark.
@renatoaranha dino lipatti? listened once and never bothered again
what about cortot..?? let's be honest, he teached lipatti his secrets.. ;-)
of course both probably the greatest pianist of the last century
Even with great pianists and great recordings I think that none of them will ever beat Lipatti's version of the Waltzes...
Es gibt nicht die Stelle, die sie unter dem Kran des Hafens wurde.Es ist die Halle des Palastes.
was zum Teufel soll das bedeuten...? Du hattest wohl ein paar Bier zuviel...
True...but this is what they give us today. They take a pianist, they make overwhelming publicity to his (her) name, they get their money back and then this is what we get...no art, just notes...

excuse me, do you know what Chopin's composition is in the video?
Nocturne 20 C# minor and Waltz Op.64 No.2. The last one is Waltz Op.posth. B.150
thank you very much!!
Well, thank God Lang Lang is here to play real music. Of course, he does no longer record for Deutsche Grammophon, which is a joke.
LLismyPianoHero
Yes, this is because the European Society deem that he too theatrical mimicking Liberace. So they canceled the contract with him.
It is very sad to know that this wonderful person’s days are numbered...😢😢😢😩☹️☹️☹️
