They really knocked it out of the park with this trailer. It’s amazing how the CGI looks so much better compared to the first movie. But Knuckles, man, it’s been so long since he was treated as a credible force to be reckoned with, so seeing him absolutely own Sonic gave me chills.
I kinda miss the saturation a bit, it does look good anyways. The main reason the cg looks better is the animators used these designs from the start instead of needing to rush over months fixing that demon.
Yeah in sonic the hedgehog 3 that's what eggman stole then lied to knuckles about so I assume they're mixing the sonic the hedgehog 2 and 3 stories in this movie
I think there are two different emeralds in the trailer: the one Robotnik finds is a Chaos Emerald, while the one in the "Angel Island" shot with the waterfalls is the Master Emerald. That latter one looks massive from afar
I don't want the human charachters to just go away, I really like them and I want to see them interacting with Tails and Knuckles just like they got to do with Sonic.

Like the water coming out of the manhole(Chaos appearance in Station Square), the scene with Sonic on top of a building looking down (the one you've just mentioned) and Sonic snowboarding. I wonder if there are more shots like the ones mentioned.

It's probably just me, but Idris Elba's voice for Knuckles reminds me of Dan Green's voice for the character. Either way I love this version of Knuckles. Can't wait to see this movie!
Like Dan Green’s early portrayal? I remember he had a deeper more serious and gritty voice at first. Then later started acting more growly and eventually a lighter and goofier tone.

From the opening scene of sonic’s story being on a rooftop at night with police cars rushing below, that stretch he does which mimics his idle animation in the game and the water spewing from sewer as already mentioned. All we need for the cherry on top is for the city’s name to be Station Square. Edit: my mistake the stretch isn’t the same as the one in SA1, but it is used in the boost games so there’s a reference for you.
I like that Sonic has the blue lightning-looking energy and Knuckles has red lightning energy coming out of his fists it looks really awesome when they clash.

If Shadow appears in the after credits and/or introduce in the third movie (because let's face it, Shadow is THE most popular sonic character next to Knuckles so he'll DEFINITELY show up in some point within these movies), what would his chaos energy power color would be like? Sure people can say it would be red since that's part of his color scheme, but that's already been taken by Knuckles as we see here. So maybe it would be green since some of his chaos powers have a green color to them I believe. What do you guys think? :0
and I actually like how movie Knuckles is more bulky than Sonic but still roughly the same size as Game Knuckles. I actually want Knuckles in the games to officially look more bulky like movie Knuckles now. it's perfect.
It feels weird to say this considering how this all started with such a legendarily bad Sonic design, but I think I actually like the movie designs more than the game designs now. With how graphics have advanced they could definitely make them look great in a game.

During the Mean Bean scene, there is a little goat statue underneath the scones. I’m guessing the goat milk is a base for all of the milk related coffee drinks in the shop.
That emerald in the middle of all those waterfalls is 100% the Master Emerald, look at how giant it is. The other green emerald Eggman found is definitely just a regular Chaos emerald. This could mean that it could actually be a "race to get all the emeralds" further pointing to the possibility of Super Sonic being in this one.
I don’t think we’ll see super sonic this movie it’ll be that knuckles figures out egg man is tricking him and they all team up to beat him like in the games, that’ll be saved for the next movie where egg man makes shadow I think

I think Robotnic will end up colouring the badniks, when he's gone fully insane he'll probably move away from the more clean white aesthetic to a more game accurate colour scheme
Can't remember the last time Knuckles was actually somewhat threatening and didn't think they'd be able to capture it this well But, I also never thought Sonic would get a succesfull cinematic universe before Mario and yet, here we are...
Knuckles is 18 and a little bit older than Sonic as well as a few others in the Franchises Cannon,so the Voice isn't that bad,it's good and unique like this version of Sonic.

I was way more excited for the movie at first because the movie is easier to not mess up. But as i replayed the trailer for frontiers now my hype is equal. Literally the world looks great and big. The graphics look stunning. ALL we need is good combat and we're all in!

Will they show him as a character who can hold is own and can prove his value through his resourcefulness... or make him too dependant on Sonic, unable to handle things on his own, to the point he's a bit of a wimp? I hope it's not the latter, though they could do a thing where he starts as a mix of both, but then evolves into the former. As for Knux, his voice slightly reminds me of the voice he had in the original portuguese dub of Sonic X (the first and third episodes at least). If they play him right, he can sound imposing and intimidating when he's against Sonic and Co., but more stoic and responsible when he's on their side, with a dash of vulnerability... and maybe some funny moments where he takes things a bit too much to the letter and stuff :D gotta have at least some funny coming from Knuckles!... though maybe we'll just see that in the potential third movie?

This is greatly taking from Sonic Adventure. From Sonic standing on the skyscraper at the beginning, to Sonic vs Knuckles, to the ice level, and Sonic on Tails Tornado, I even saw Red Mountain in there too
I assume Robotnik hasn’t fully realized his game identity yet because it would be a jarring sudden transition and would be better to take it step by step to feel natural. Besides, Jim Carrey doesn’t usually do sequels til recently. He wanted to keep playing Robotnik because he hasn’t reached his “apotheosis” yet. So if he doesn’t reach it in movie 2, they can get him back for movie 3. LOL
I guess they ether thought that it would be awkward for Tails to refer to himself as Miles Prower compared to Sonic simply being named Sonic and Knuckles being named Knuckles (although I feel like you can get away with that with a clever joke) or it's just for the trailer that I kinda doubt (but who knows?).

when Robotnik said "where are my manners" he's wearing an all-black version of the original pilot suit. Look at his shoulder and when the trailer shows Knuckles throw a punch inside the house you can see more of his outfit and again it's the original pilot suit but black. So he wears 3 new outfits
The beginning scene of Sonic above the building and the cops going to resolve some problem it's a clear reference to Sonic Adventure, also Ice Cap, and the fact that they are going after the Chaos Emeralds, is basically a remake of the Sonic 2, 3 (& Knuckles) and some Adventure references, all in one movie.
I love this trailer and can't wait to see this in action. Loved the first and surely love the second...but there is a lot of Sonic adventure references to the point of either doing it for kicks or maybe something bigger...possible sonic 3 with Shadow and or Chaos or CD story...nah, that can't be. i think the mushroom planet is mushroom hill zone and is next to angel hill and in the scene where the axe almost hits eggman is when he finds the master emerald and he uses it to make it back to earth
my prediction for the plot is that they'll be chasing after different emerald temples that are hidden around earth. we do know from longclaw that there's some pre-established connection to earth that motivated her to send sonic there, so it could be that her race set up those temples in ancient times and robotnik's meddling with the master emerald unearths the chaos emeralds. the ice cap scene looks like it's going to be in a one of those temples, which is why sonic and tails are squaring off with robotnik there. I think the temple where the seas are split open could be in hawaii, it would make sense to bring the characters there at some point to probably give the human characters some stake in the plot by the end.

I feel like this is going to be a Dark Knight kind of sequel where the first movie was a great foundation, but the sequel will be a better and refined version of the concept.
I think the space pod is where he's storing the chaos emerald. I think he sends it down to earth, and then the climax happens, and that's where the green tornado thing comes from

From the action, to the characters, to the fantastic cinematography, little references from the games, and most of all, how they stayed true to the source material. I believe Robotnik's transformation into Eggman is still not complete. This will more than likely happen between the end of this movie and the next when Metal Sonic is introduced into the plot. ...C'mon we all know Metal Sonic is next.

I really like the way they reference the beginning of Sonic’s story in Sonic Adventure.
I wish I could feel the same excitement for Frontiers as I am for this movie.

They can characterize Tails however they want, but it's clear that he looks up to Sonic and will be helping him out.

my prediction for the plot is that they'll be chasing after different emerald temples that are hidden around earth. we do know from longclaw that there's some pre-established connection to earth that motivated her to send sonic there, so it could be that her race set up those temples in ancient times and robotnik's meddling with the master emerald unearths the chaos emeralds. the ice cap scene looks like it's going to be in a one of those temples, which is why sonic and tails are squaring off with robotnik there. I think the temple where the seas are split open could be in hawaii, it would make sense to bring the characters there at some point to probably give the human characters some stake in the plot by the end.
So a little bit of sonic unleashed in the plot? Interesting idea

I feel like this is going to be a Dark Knight kind of sequel where the first movie was a great foundation, but the sequel will be a better and refined version of the concept.

I think the space pod is where he's storing the chaos emerald. I think he sends it down to earth, and then the climax happens, and that's where the green tornado thing comes from

Paramount really knocked it out of the park when it comes to Sonic. From the action, to the characters, to the fantastic cinematography, little references from the games, and most of all, how they stayed true to the source material. This comes out a week before my birthday!!!! Thank you Paramount and SEGA!

I believe Robotnik's transformation into Eggman is still not complete. This will more than likely happen between the end of this movie and the next when Metal Sonic is introduced into the plot.
