  • It is a level 2 demonstration that looks complicated but is easier than it looks
Mock Cable is a variation of the knit stitch, with a cross-over, that refers to the cable look of the stitch.
This video is referenced on the website www.brooknit-bonneterie.com.
    #Movetheneedles , one stitch at a time!
We use circular needles in bamboo size 8. The yarn is a ball of 100% Merino super-wash worsted weight, in Meringue color, from Brooknit Bonneterie.
Hands belong to Julie Lagauzere, principal at Brooknit Bonneterie LLC.
Voice and authentic French accent belong to the same person ;)
Abstract and steps of the Cable knitting:
Mock Cable is based on stockinette stitch. So, you KNIT on the right side, you will PURL on the wrong side, if you knit in flat. You simply knit if in the round.
The demonstration is based on a total of 12 stitches - flat knitting, 2x2
Wrong side, the back of the mock cable is made of 2 purls.
    Right side, Mock Cable stitch
1- You ignore the 1st stitch on your left needle.
2- You start knitting the 2nd stitch from the back loop. You don't slide it away from the left needle yet, and leave it.
3- You return to the 1st stitch and knit as normal.
4- You slide away the 2 stitches from the left needle.
    You continue with you pattern.
    Voilà!
    Tips:
the texture stands out more with reversed stockinette or garter on both sides.
The demonstration is on a 2x2, but you can adjust to your liking.
make sure you tight the yarn in the back after you slide away the 2 stitches away at the end, to keep an even tension through your project.
