I bought a 22 Apex with the 6 M/T in cement gray, it is a fun car to drive. The engine revs freely and has no rev hang. The stiff suspension makes it fun to drive its rough but on par with my old lowered mini. It’s quick enough but would be nice with a little more power. I drive some hilly/windy roads back and forth from work so some extra torque would be nice. I do wish the fuel economy was better. In 7 months / 10K miles I’m averaging 28.5 mpg which I contribute to the hilly roads, plenty of stop and go traffic, and a heavy right foot.
I really enjoy the Apex too. Toyota should have thrown in a revised intake and free flowing exhaust to eke out a few more ponies to make it feel more special. I still love the looks and the handling is quite rewarding.
You can get leather on the XSE version...but you miss out on the manual transmission. I did find the suspension firm, but fitting for a more sporty variant of the Corolla.
I hade a chance to get this car at a toyota dealership near me. For $22,000 with 30.000 miles on it with cvt trans. But pass on it and got a 24 xse but paid $26.000
I really love the look of these new Toyota Corollas. From 2020 to 2025 seems that Toyota is keeping this Corolla with the same design and styling. I can't wait to get an Apex with the 6-speed transmission. There are performance modifications that can be done to get (some) more torque and horsepower from these cars. Plus getting light weight wheels to reduce the un-sprung weight helps too. I would think that getting 17-inch wheels to lower the wheels weight will also soften the stiff suspension on these Corolla Apex's. Although the 18inch wheels look amazing, I know that a 17inch wheel will have more side wall to soften the stiff ride a bit. But I would never go to a 16inch wheel.....
Why is Manuel transmission so hyped over automatic? I like to fiddle with my phone a lot and my hands constantly moving Gear shift doesn't seem optimal
My buddy (the owner) drives 75-100 miles daily on his commute…he loves it. I’ve also driven many manuals on many grindy commutes and enjoyed them as well.
Yep... That's the one problem that I don't like about a manual transmission. In bumper to bumper traffic at 1 to 5mph, you have to use the clutch a thousand times, and that tires your left leg out. Never enjoyable at super slow speeds when you have to engage and disengage the transmission constantly...

the suspension package what makes this edition shine! it’s really good albeit not everyone will like it but I do!
I fully agree. The tightened up suspension really steps up the handling performance.
the interior has a leather version ..one thing i dont like is the you feel every bump..needs to be filled with a bit more power

Win/win scenario. I love the XSE. Is that one a manual?

They look especially great in this Apex trim. Those mods would certainly spice it up a bit.
I love having the traction off
It’s like taking the training wheels off!
It's definitely a good-looking car.
They killed it in the looks department.

Hahaha. Plus, manuals really complicate things for car thieves just trying to make a living.
Dear senta
Go drive in traffic then come back do the video again
