      Right at that time I was 14 years old, and I was already programming in assembly; replicating games; the games ran without allowing pauses; so I wrote assembly programs and put them in RAM; when the game loaded the program in assembly could stop the execution of the game and I could copy and save it as many times as I wanted on cassette tape ... good times.

    I have collected autographs from everyone who starred in this film. At least 25 signatures and the hardest autograph to obtain was Juanin Clay who passed away in 1995. The nicest guy was Irvin Metzman who played Richter. The computer guy from Norad. He gave me his badge that he wore in the film.

      Quite so

    • @lect0n7
      @lect0n7 5 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Yeah, but the reason it’s the most accurate look is partly because it shows how in order to be a successful _Hacker_ it takes a person who’s EXTREMELY RESOURCEFUL & ANALYTICAL... the only big inaccuracies - a high school female who isn’t a fellow hacker or even a nerd is interested in a computer geek at a time which being a computer nerd WASN’T that profitable... and he’s using an _IMSAI 8080_ Computer which was an extremely early microcomputer released 1975, based on the Intel 8080 (hence it’s name). It was a clone of the MITS Altair 8800. The Apple ][, TRS-80, Commodore Vic-20 or Commodore 64 would’ve been FAR MORE APPROPRIATE hardware for a 1983 setting... and he’s doing things at modern (2019) broadband internet speeds... Broadband with an Acoustic Coupler modem?!? Not realistic...

Some datacenters might even provide emergency oxygen cannisters should you be unable to make it out in time, and because of these measures, you are not allowed to wear ear protection.

      My description of a photographic memory is of a different kind: being able to remember absolutely non-trivial things years later...
      Sometimes even something that happened 6 months a go can make me talk to someone and refer to that when they mentioned that, and get back: "When was that?" and I'm like "6 Months a go?"

      That would never work. Among other things, there are scenes that have an eery tension to them merely for someone using a pay phone by messing with the electrical contact of it and having to explain from where he was calling, while, after some time multiple cars show up having followed him...
      Next to someone using a smartphone these days, triangulating a smartphone, in case you know who did what along with tapping that phone to listen to the microphone to know when they committed a computer crime would make those scenes not exist in the first place...
