Pia is a BOSS!!! She always acts so reserved in other videos but somehow becomes emotive and excited during the commentary! Anna and Pia F****** RULE!!!
Asthma has always been a concern for me. Playing sports in LA and Orange County where smoggy days were difficult at times. Working as a carpenter in construction had its issues too. Sawdust, insulation, Sheetrock dust, and exposure to asbestos a little probably didn't help. In hind sight earplugs, safety glasses, sunscreen, and dirt filtering masks would have been better to have worn more often than I actually did at times. Thanks for your continued videos and recaps of the tournaments you've been playing in. Keep up the good work. A grandmaster like your parents is in your future some day. I truly believe that! :) 🐝
You are very neatly describing my life. I’m a carpenter handyman in my early fifties. I never had asthma but i have always had energy issues and brain fog. I have been experimenting with diet. Avoiding wheat and dairy helps. So does eating organic. Avoiding dairy helps with my breathing. (I get congested).
Please keep playing in tournaments. I can only imagine the travel and the constant stress of playing is trying but it is very enjoyable to watch your experiences as you play all the various ranking levels of your opponents. Your mother's play by play is exciting and your review of the game at the end of each video is excellent.
This was a fantastic match to watch the entire thing. There were such huge swings in who had the advantage, and then that endgame! The evaluation bar said you were even, so I assumed it came down to who would blunder first. You had to play perfectly to hold the draw, and for him to blunder, and then for you to play perfectly again to secure a win, and you did! It felt like you won a great victory out of a bad early game and then an eternally drawn game if two computers had been playing. So exciting. I have found that yoga ‘cures’ my asthma after a year when I attend once a week, and it takes a year after I stop yoga for my asthma to come back. Here in Australia, it is very ‘common knowledge’ that regular swimming or yoga controls asthma, which is why there are so many Olympic swimmers that come out of here for our population. Many parents of asthmatic children toss their kids regularly in the local pool to swim laps. Anyway, I know how scary it is to run out of your inhaler especially when you need it. It would have been impossible to play chess without it. I am sorry there was no one to fetch it for you while you were asthmatic. So, hard, painful, and worrying until you got your emergency inhaler in your hands. Then you pulled out that spectacular win after all that!
Me encantó los comentarios de tu increíble mamá, Pia es extraordinaria. Anna, estoy seguro que te va a ir muy bien. Animo y saludos desde Florida, USA.
I'm super impressed with your opponent's level of play. There seem to be many very sharp Turkish players. The way he marshalled resources to achieve long-range goals, in particular. Lining up the bishop and Queen diagonal with b2, and that sneaky pawn. That was an extraordinarily dynamic game! This win is a credit to your tenacity and resourcefulness. Wonderful recovery!
That endgame looks like the kind of berserk endgame I play as a novice. Of course you are able to see the mistake of your opponent, rather than just wandering around the board without focus. Just delightful, Anna! Keep making your mother proud!
that was so interesting that I watched the video from beginning to the end and that's actually something that i'm not used to do while watching chess games , n I really wish you the best Anna good luck for your next tournament ❤❤
Good luck Anna. I started watching about 4 weeks back after not playing since my teens. I find myself being drawn back in despite not seeing most of your plays until well after you play them.
Hi Anna, it was fun watching your games on the stream, thank you for that! I like the recaps too, because it's interesting to get to know your thought and emotional process during the game. Good luck!
Det är så roligt att se dina videos. Jag har fått cancer och är döende 46 år gammal men när jag ser dina video så får jag annat att tänka på än min cancer ,keep up the good work. Hoppas du blir bäst i världen en dag.❤
Congrats on the win Anna. I used to officiate football (American) and some of the worst games I worked were the ones I arrived just before game time because my mind wasn't ready to do the game. You looked a bit unsettled at that beginning. It was not your fault for getting there late because of the prescription issue. Life just happens. Just know we support you.
Poor Anna. When you said you had to run back from the pharmacy, I hope you didn't have to literally run back especially with asthma in the outdoor cold. Great endgame play to get the win. Was funny as your mom was saying during the stream there is nothing to worry about but my mind was panicking fearing one of his pawns would sneak through and promote. (By the way, I like the video intro showing the snow flakes on the window at 0:19 to set tone of the playing area).
The livestream was great, you did a good job this tournament. Your mom made the commentary so good too. Good luck on you next tournament in acouple weeks.
For you folks who are asthmatic…my wife is a confident competitor in everything she approaches…takes a person I have tremendous amount of respect for. Anna keep working on yourself. Congratulations!
Glad you were able to renew your asthma medication and win the game Anna. By this time round 9 is completed, I hope you won that game also! Thanks for posting.
For that matte, I wonder if her mother played against any of the three sisters. Judit was probably playing against the higher ranked players. As I recall, Judit refused to play for the women's title, but Susan did (& won it).
I'm way too old, but I'm going to relearn this game and start playing again. I'm 68 and I haven't played since Junior High. But watching you and your channel, it's got me hungry to play again. Now they have computer programs that can reteach the game and you can learn to play at entry level and move up against the CP. I know you'll never read this because of your huge fan base (well deserved fan base) but thank you for restoring my love for the game that I had misplaced long ago. I do have a question. You mention your Mother from time to time. Can we see a 3 game series of you two playing each other? I think it would be very cool. Perhaps if anyone here has an inside track to speak to her, and there's enough interest here for the same thing, please pass this request along. Thank you young lady for providing such joy to people like me that feel your excitement for the game.
- both going for a win in a drawn game - hahahahahahahahahahha another great commentary statement !! I enjoy all your vids. Thank You for helping my chess. Sharing many of the convoluted thought possibilities in calculations is the icing on the cake.
I just love these little epic intros, that look straight at the camera is awesome! XD edit: WOW! What an epic battle! That was actually pretty dramatic, kept me hooked :) Good luck with your final game, play for the win!! : )
Anna 🎉 Watching you play THE game ... I downloaded a chess game on PlayStation and I have been laughing ever since . Some of your advice about watching out during every moment has helped me out a lot. Please continue to encourage us‼️🍿🖖 Thanks for the entertainment.
Nice work on the game. I was not aware that you had asthma. I had asthma as a kid and really did not do well when I was in cold air. I live now in a warm weather state so luckily I do not have to do deal with it anymore.
Wishing you the best Anna . I am enjoying your fantastic videos and incredible chess moves . I am only a novice player but have learned a lot by watching you play . You are my favorite . ❤️
Anna, I'm your Mom's age. As a pre-teen, I played chess furiously, I could beat all the kids and adults in my neighborhood, but it was a small neighborhood (lol). I quit playing and haven't looked at a chess game in my life until you came along. I enjoy your content, but I find myself often having to rewind back past your potential moves to find the actual move. For me the potential moves that you edit in, destroys the flow of the game. I'd like to watch your games unedited. My mind would be more engaged as I strategized and plotted what I would move and then compared my move to yours. I hope my comment makes sense. AGAIN: I enjoy your content!
Anna, as you mentioned you’re analizing the games with your opponents afterwards, I think it would be interesting content to share that part too if they agree to it!
Psych tip for your next tourny…don’t immediately look away and sip your water after a move, it releases the tension for your opponent. Never underestimate the power of a beautiful souls focused stare. Don’t let them use your time Anna!! ❤
During the times of year when there is a lot of pollen, consider wearing a mask when you are outside. My physician wife, who also has asthma, swears by it.
sad that she finished with just 4.5 pts. the field for this event is far stronger than the rilton open where she finished just half a point short of first. she had that crushing loss where she blundered in a drawn endgame due to lack of time management and ended up tied for second instead of finishing tied for first.
Hi Anna, just wanted to say I am really enjoying your OTB tournament journey. Personally, with your lack of OTB Tournament practice, I think you did very well to get 41/2 out of 9 i.e. 50%. So keep believing in yourself, and hopefully these two Tournaments will have sharpened up your OTB game, so you do even better in your next Tournament! Good luck from this U.K. fan! By the way you live in one of my favourite cities in the world, Stockholm! Great city!
I’ve said it maybe before. Highest respect for Anna. I’ve been a professional musician my whole life and regard excellence. I have to say with honor and dignity thrown out the window… I love you Anna!! I’ll move to Sweden, I’ll move to Antarctica. I love you!! Okay, I got that out.
