I also prefer the Stan Winston animatronic, but I LOVE the fact that they've put so much thought into her, and trying to tell her story via her looks. I just wish they would've made the Indoraptor and the Indominus as "realistic".
Even with her age between the films, as well as minor differences in each design, these movies still did a spectacular job emphasizing Rexy/Roberta's size and power. Practically every shot of this T. rex truly demonstrated the awe, wonder, and danger that the characters in-film would feel in her presence.
I don't care what my friends say about Rexy. In my eyes, she's beautiful. 🥰🦖 I just love T-Rexes, and especially Rexy. She has made exciting and bone-thrilling appearences. Even though she was held captive, she'll always be the queen of the dino island to me. I look forward to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (I haven't seen it yet, but has recently purchased the DVD), and the upcoming Jurassic World movie. I hope Rexy will be present in the upcoming movie too. I just love her. 😍 I stopped watching when you reached Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom only to prevent spoilers. But love your video. The Stan Winston model of the Tyrannosaurus Rex will always be my favorite because of nostalgic reasons. Don't get me wrong the T rex design in Fallen Kingdom is pretty impressive because it's got battle scars to make the animal look more veteran. This is a dinosaur you seriously do not want to cross with.
@@Giantsfanghg I "grew" up with JW rather than JP and still prefer the Winston model, however I didn't find the first JW to be terrible, but still nowhere near the first movie, Fallen Kingdom however I hated.
Stan Winston’s physical model all day. You can’t beat in-camera effects. The skin texture and the way the rain and moisture shimmers over it can’t be done photo real in cgi, even now.
Finally somebody does this video. I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for someone to cover how the dinosaurs change in each iteration of the movies. especially with the T-Rex. Can’t wait to see the next one.
As much as I understand how Winston’s passing changed the name of his studio to Legacy Effects, Rexy is still Rexy. The way I always look at she’s changed is from her aging which is the most obvious impact. In the novel, her Role is no different other than having a different approach to whenever she would appear where in the film the ripples in water signal her while in the novel she appeared slowly in the mist of thunder and lightning. I’ve always been able to tell difference between headshots and her movement
I had a school folder that featured that Stan Winston model just standing and staring out with the rain and everything. Something about the simplicity of that image was just very striking and iconic.
@@theeternal1766 i hope the end of jw3 ..the dinosaurs are the ones that live on..and humans forced to hide.. as we love the movies for the dinosaurs..not the humans..we want a good ending! but i can see rexy having an iconic scene were she takes her last breathe :(
I do admit i love how her design has evolved, and while i am such a huge fan of the stan winston original, i'm surprised to say that Fallen Kingdom's design is only trailing behind that Rex, by the literal length of one of her scales
As a fan of "rexy" I can make the argument that if she was at Fallen Kingdom size or her original size that maybe she wouldn't have needed Blue's help to fight the Indominus. Although I imagine that a full sized Indominus still would be the strongest because super genetic mutant that is smart. I really loved the Hybrid storyline especially for Jurassic World. I think it is a bit squandered of its full potential in FK. I really like that they are returning to form and keeping the super hybrids out of the last movie in this trilogy.
One thing I'd say about Rexy vs Indominus, just by looking at their skills you can tell Rexy would bite way harder. Indominus's skull is built like a big raptor. Skinny upper jaw, super wide but flat and weak lower jaw, and none of the wide beefy hinge area where all of T-Rex's muscles are. Indominus also doesn't have very much binocular vision overlap, whereas T-Rex has better binocular overlap than a hawk or eagle. Indominus's teeth also come out of it's jaws at funky angles, which looks snarly and mean for a movie monster but would make them prone to breaking, compared to the straight round anchored bananas Rexy has. Indominus would have to use it's arms, agility, and intelligence to try and win that fight. One neck bite from Rexy and you're the headless horseman. They have Triceratops fossils with chunks of the head frills bitten off by T-Rex teeth. Backbones and ribs and femurs and other enormous bones from big hadrosaurs, absolutely crunched to bits by Rexes. Most other carnivores stripped meat from the bone like we do from chicken drumsticks. T-Rex just went right through the bones hyena style. God I love Tyrannosaurus. Long Live the King.
I think it should get less exposed shots for future movies, the less you expose a monster, the scarier it is. For example, at the T. Rex paddock scene, most scenes didn't show the full dino (gotta tease a bit, let the sensation of size sink), and also the acting is essential, like when the glass fell, that really got the ticket (fun fact: that part wasn't planned). I think the trick is to make it believable. Anyway, thanks for reading this, have a nice life :)
I never realized that T-Rex was the same one from the first film. I just thought it was amother random one. They should have set that up earlier in one of the tours. "This is the T-Rex from the old park, we caught her and now she's pretty well behaved now." Showing a large patch of land where some herbivores are allowed/encouraged to roam in to be "naturally" hunted.
Oh my god thank you for the like klayton! I screamed and ran out to show my parents while they were watching a show. I'm a 16 year old man and i literally jumped to my feet and went EEEEEEEEEEE!
I love Stan Winston animatronic T-Rex and cgi dinosaur and I’m glad they bring this T-Rex back from Jurassic world 2015 to 2018 timeline and I’m glad Stan Winston is the one of the amazing practical effects RIP Stan Winston 😢😭😔 You will be missed .
I do have to say that the Stan Winston animatronic is amazing but I have to give credit to Fallen Kingdom for making her feel the same way she was in the original, those 2 are definitely my favourites. I also noticed she changed colour over time that's best seen in her CGI models, in JP she's shades of browns with bluish purple stripes while in JW and JWFK a lot of the brown has darkened while some others have lightened to sandy bronzeish ,the stripes have gone. Side note I think the final battle of JW would have gone differently if Big Mama Reberta was like she was in Fallen Kingdom.
The old Rexy was terrifying and filled with that primal rage. The body was muscular with clear lines in between and it had a insanely threatening presence. Nowadays dinosaurs have no presence to them. Their eyes are dull and they completely lack the colossal feel that they are suppose to have
Well, the number ofnteeth are different, the size of the eye and the snout itself are just way too noticeable for it to be ageing. It was actually a purposeful choice by the special effects supervisors. I don't understand why though. But some aspects were for ageing.
@@bastianpalma5609 1- animals change the number of teeth as they grow, as does their snout so yes those are ageing. 2- it was a choice to combine the stan winston animatronic with the CGIof thew first film, combined with ageing.
My Favorite detail about the JW & JWFK Rexy designs is the fact that they put the effort to make sure that when the audience first sees her, they KNOW it’s her, they KNOW that this ain’t no ordinary T-Rex, that they KNOW that this is REXY, THE T-Rex from the first movie. The fact that the combined both the models used for her originally but then made her battle damaged, those claw mark scars on her neck I love so much because if anyone were to try and argue that this ain’t the same Rexy, you can just point to those and say that she is because of the scars on her are in the SAME LOCATION as when the velociraptors in JP1 jumped on her at the end. I mean when I saw the movie in theaters I thought that it was Rexy and then I found out it IS Rexy and the scars on her, I loved this detail so much, cause it just tells so much about her and that scene as well since the Velociraptors had to have clawed at her pretty hard to have left all those ginormous scars on her that are bright and visible to this day and the fact that she was able to walk away with that probably viewing those massive scars as just a scratch on her. I also LOVE the fact that they took into consideration that since this is the same Rexy, that she probably would age quite a bit and I find that so cool especially when you consider the skeletons they have found of T-Rex’s are that old(I think the oldest on the find was Sue’s and she was aged to be like in her 20’s when she died, though they did find Scott last year and I think they aged him to being a bit older than her, still they are the odd balls out of the T-Rex game of life) Also from what I’ve heard a couple of people point out in anylasis of the first Jurassic World movie, Rexy being really old does kinda helps explain why Claire was able to outrun her in heels(plus scientists were able to predict that a T-Rex can run between 15-25 miles per hour, and if your an Olympic runner you’d be able to do so in heels in the ones top speed is 15), and since Rexy IS old for a T-Rex, she would definitely be a bit slower in terms of running speed, along with the fact that she hasn’t really gotten to stretch her legs in a while.
Ethan Snyder it’s about when they chose to show the CGI. It looks amazing in most shots but there are some that aged poorly. When she first roses behind the Jeep, for example, because that area had to have a lot of light in that night scene which made the model look awkward as hell. The model is infinitely superior in Jurassic world, but because it looks so good, they put it into questionable shots where the limitations become obvious...mostly they do this because they spent millions on her design, they didn’t want to make an animatronic while also maximizing their use of her model. It’s lazy but also business smart, I suppose. I’m not saying that she looks better in Jurassic world, just that the CGI model is far more realistic but was used very poorly as opposed to the older and less realistic model that was used expertly.
I actually am a fan of the CG render in JW3. She looks great! But I feel you on JW2’s design as well for being consistent to the animatronic/CG shots I both from JP but the sizes are a bit exaggerated. Where in JW2 for example she looks the same size the hole film.
Stan's wins in my book 💖...the first minute when Alan gets the flair and does the iconic "Hey!" And the animatronic roars is to me the show stealer in the movie not to mention the loudest roar in the movie from Rexy 🦖🥰
That screen shot of when the rex is staring at Alan Grant, I have always felt that she is looking at him with anger. Always sends a shiver down my spine whenever I see that scene.
I honestly can’t really notice the differences in the original Jurassic Park. I actually notice the differences between the Buck Rex in The Lost World a lot more.
My favourite scene would be Winston's rex roar at the camera after pushing the explorer over the cliff. The sound helps sell it but the movement is spot on.
JW and JWFK were on crack for how they made Rexy look. Skinnier or not, it doesn't look like the same rex. The chin, the body, things are just way off. How they messed that up in this era of tech, I don't know.
I don’t want Rexy to die in JW3 she’s been with me since I was 4 years old back in 1993 I want the Queen of JP to live forever I hope they just portray in JW3 she found new territory in the states and lived the rest of her days out there
For me it's a tie between the JP model and FK model but in all honesty I love all three models and no matter what alterations are made to her appearance, this Rex will always be my favorite. As always great video man.
Rexy, or Roberta’s roar has also changed throughout the years. Of course her yells and famous roars can be easily recognizable in the original JP. In Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, the Trex has the same roars from The Lost World Trex’s. She rarely dose her famous roar anymore.
I‘ve even noticed that the animatronic T-Rexes in The Lost World: Jurassic Park also looked different than their CGI counterparts, despite the maquettes coming straight from Stan Winston Studios that ILM used for reference. Most noticeably I see it in the arms of the T-Rexes, with a prime example being the scene where the Rexes rip up Eddie Carr’s car.
I love the use of the animatronic for close ups, the real shadows it casts and the way water drips off it would be difficult even today to get 100% right on such close up shots.
Stan Winston I love his work and the funniest part in the makes of JP 3 the spino and rex fight stan Winston said guys they are mine I thought that was funny
Because of the rain and the lighting, it is near impossible to identify Rexy's skin as brown. It appears grey. Klayton Fioriti should be cast in the next Jurassic World film.
I think my favorite is probably the fallen kingdom T.Rex because I thought it was really realistic of what happened to with it finally being able rome freely and become a monster again.

I also prefer the Stan Winston animatronic, but I LOVE the fact that they've put so much thought into her, and trying to tell her story via her looks. I just wish they would've made the Indoraptor and the Indominus as "realistic".
1:35, the animatronic is amazing!! It still gives me chillls to this day!
Even with her age between the films, as well as minor differences in each design, these movies still did a spectacular job emphasizing Rexy/Roberta's size and power. Practically every shot of this T. rex truly demonstrated the awe, wonder, and danger that the characters in-film would feel in her presence.
You cant beat the orignal, but i do really love the Fallen Kingdom Design, Can't wait to see Rexy/Roberta in Jw3.
But I think shes only gotten prettier with age...
David She will actually look similar to Jurassic Word Fallen Kingdom. Not Jurassic World because she was in captivity for so long.
David No not really. The reason why Rexy lost muscle was because she was in captivity. Watch the video
Even A much older skinnier Rexy is still powerful enough to throat bite, flip and ram/fling the Irex the edge of the mosasaur lagoon.

I don't care what my friends say about Rexy. In my eyes, she's beautiful. 🥰🦖
I just love T-Rexes, and especially Rexy. 😍
I stopped watching when you reached Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom only to prevent spoilers. But love your video. Interesting to see. 🙂

My man you are spitting straight facts
I had a school folder that featured that Stan Winston model just standing and staring out with the rain and everything. Something about the simplicity of that image was just very striking and iconic.

I knew it! I knew that Roberta looked a little bit different, especially in the skull. I love all the designs personally

I thought that was really cool, you did a great job! The Fallen Kingdom model is my favorite!!!
I noticed that the most when the rex showed up in Jurassic world
Godzilla
You watch the *gaming beaver*
I think it should get less exposed shots for future movies, the less you expose a monster, the scarier it is.
For example, at the T. Rex paddock scene, most scenes didn't show the full dino (gotta tease a bit, let the sensation of size sink), and also the acting is essential, like when the glass fell, that really got the ticket (fun fact: that part wasn't planned). I think the trick is to make it believable.
Anyway, thanks for reading this, have a nice life :)
I like them all because when you put them side by side in sequential order, they seem to fit the conditions that Rexy has gone through in the movies.

I love Stan Winston animatronic T-Rex and cgi dinosaur and I’m glad they bring this T-Rex back from Jurassic world 2015 to 2018 timeline and I’m glad Stan Winston is the one of the amazing practical effects
RIP Stan Winston 😢😭😔
You will be missed .
Their eyes are dull and they completely lack the colossal feel that they are suppose to have
well obviously her changes are down to her ageing.
I love that in universe theory
@@Sith_Lord_Sweetheart it's so much a theory as it is a deliberate dsesign choice by the visual artists.
I also LOVE the fact that they took into consideration that since this is the same Rexy, that she probably would age quite a bit and I find that so cool especially when you consider the skeletons they have found of T-Rex’s are that old(I think the oldest on the find was Sue’s and she was aged to be like in her 20’s when she died, though they did find Scott last year and I think they aged him to being a bit older than her, still they are the odd balls out of the T-Rex game of life)
Also from what I’ve heard a couple of people point out in anylasis of the first Jurassic World movie, Rexy being really old does kinda helps explain why Claire was able to outrun her in heels(plus scientists were able to predict that a T-Rex can run between 15-25 miles per hour, and if your an Olympic runner you’d be able to do so in heels in the ones top speed is 15), and since Rexy IS old for a T-Rex, she would definitely be a bit slower in terms of running speed, along with the fact that she hasn’t really gotten to stretch her legs in a while.
looked better in the 1st movie change my mind
Now why would I do that?
KyleSVT why would we, she was in her prime, then she got old, of course she's not gonna look as great as her first screen time
@@rhinosaurus6085 she looked more real in the 1st movie vs all cgi in jurassic world
@DVJFan yes sir! lol
But I feel you on JW2’s design as well for being consistent to the animatronic/CG shots
I both from JP but the sizes are a bit exaggerated. Where in JW2 for example she looks the same size the hole film.
the digital rex's eyes also become cat-slits
Not really. Her pupils were angled away from the camera enough that they looked more slit like.
That animatronic was terrifying because of how realistic it looked. That image of grant standing in front of her always gives me goosebumps.
I prefer the original but the fallen kingdom comes close.

Awesome video Klayton Fioriti about how Rexy design has changed in the Jurassic series.
JW and JWFK were on crack for how they made Rexy look. Skinnier or not, it doesn't look like the same rex. The chin, the body, things are just way off. How they messed that up in this era of tech, I don't know.
Rexy has been, and always shall be, the Queen of Isla Nublar. Looking forward to (hopefully!) seeing her in Jurassic World III.
I don’t want Rexy to die in JW3 she’s been with me since I was 4 years old back in 1993 I want the Queen of JP to live forever I hope they just portray in JW3 she found new territory in the states and lived the rest of her days out there
I think Mar-a-Lago would be ideal habitat for her.
Awesome dive! Makes me wonder how she'll look in JW3; I imagine she'll have picked up some scars from some human encounters?
Rexy showed us that even if you become old or weak, it's never too late to gain energy and restore you health.

I got to say I like the original version of Rexy best, great vid Klayton... only Jurassic Park channel I need.
