Just started playing DayZ a few days ago. I knew almost nothing about the game and immediately climbed onto a building to look around and loot, then thought it looked like a safe distance to jump down..... GRAVE MISTAKE! I broke my ankles and upon regaining consciousness I tried to run and passed out again, repeating this process about 3 times until I realized what happened.... Then I crawled for what felt like ages desperately searching for anything to help me, not even knowing what that thing would be. Just stuck crawling down a road I thought it was the end for me until I spotted a tall building in the distance, and it was then that my legs suddenly healed themselves and I was off running again! I was so excited and went to loot a group of super tall buildings, only to spend 20 minutes running up and down them for NO LOOT AT ALL! Feeling defeated I decided to leave and find somewhere else to search, and the second I stepped out of the building there was a pack of 3 zombies waiting there for me. I turned to run back up the building but missed the jump to the first level. The zombies rushed me and in seconds I was dead.... It was in that moment that I realized just how much time I'm going to have put into this game 😂 Awesome video and thanks for all the great tips 😁👍
That's brutal man, but that's exactly what the game will do to inexperienced players🤣 but with every death comes a lesson or two learned. Always be looking for things you could have handled better from your past life to improve on for the next. Also remember zombie killing techniques, pvp encounter strategies, etc that worked before and build from there. With patience, time, and experience you'll be a pro in no time! Best of luck 🤠
10:00 I like to keep boxed ammo and trow out single groups of ammo and if you find some gun only keep that ammo type... But usually I keep .308 and 9mm because they are good for the smg's I kinda like the scorpion so I always keep .308
I just like to keep myself from hording every single item I find. I have my handful of guns/ammo types I know i like to use and just try to stick to them!🤠
Personally, I started by finding a low population server so I could focus on learning the mechanics of the game and how to survive the PVE first then I moved to a high population server to get action. Anyone reading this that is discouraged, stick with it. This game is amazing
Thank you so much for the time you put into this. I managed to convince my friends to download it and we've been playing non stop. It's nice to play something else, the only other game they played was MW or Halo wars.
Don't eat the dead people, you'll start laughing like a hyena if you eat human flesh. I spent an entire server session wipe to wipe just hunting a cannibal crew once. There was a whole group of crazy cannibals in my server, so I made it my goal to make life difficult on them.
Got tired of seeing all the fun clips of days and people interacting. Am downloading now and just watched your video so I know how to start. Thank you sir.
No problem! Glad to help. Axes and Pickaxes will spawn in industrial warehouses, sheds, containers and even small sheds behind houses and such. Just gotta keep looking dude.
The bark and short stick for starting a fire without a lighter or matches is super good to know, iv starved to death in the game with a skimmed chicken cause I had no way to start my fire, watched a video on this stuff before and they didn’t mention it, thanks for the tip!
Thanks, I've not finished the video yet, but the fishing tutorial kept me alive a bit longer than usual, one of my best runs since I tried and failed to get into this game last year. I still am not quite at base building level yet but I feel more confident.
I think the easy way out is base budding personally. Having a base to stockpile at removes the need to travel and survive by looting and hunting constantly. If you want to learn to survive and pvp, I recommend not building a base🤠 but awesome dude! Glad to help!
@@chexo3 I don't believe I touched on it specifically. But you can combine two small stones together for a stone knife! Or on some modded servers, you can combine bones with rags to make a bone knife :)

Very well done video. as a person coming back after many years this helped Also clouds always travel East. Oldschool guys will know that And remember, no matter how perfect of a run you have, it could all end up with a black screen and "You are dead" message
8:28 protip: don't make funny noises when you mess up a word. if you do it too much it is extremely annoying and unprofessional. simply slow down, forgive yourself, and say the word the correct way. not to mention, getting in the habit of making googly noises after every mess-up causes even more messups to start happening. hope you take this advice, because you are great at making videos. I really like your editing +1 the quality is fantastic.
Have quite a few that might help you as you learn the game, but best of luck!!! Learn from your experiences, don't get attached to your gear, and don't be afraid to try new things. You got this 🤠

I love doing a more camoflauge style of clothing, so most military gear is great as they are fairly great, and so are field backpacks as they are green ones, this gives me plenty space and even more camoflauge, even better if I get a gillie head piece.
Here's the thing about a field bag-- they're super noticeable and they make you stick out. Regardless of color, often times people can see it from afar and immediately detect you. I've spotted so many players just because of their humongous bag haha.
I wish they make next DayZ extremely real life survival and extremely difficult. Zero promts and all instinct and shared knowledge and some situations which require teamwork. 🤔 Great video. 👍
I think they should make official "hardcore" pve servers.... Im new to the game, the last thing i want is it getting harder. With other players to worry about, i think we need a cap on the realism lol. Hardcore pve, maybe with some new bosses or some sort of things to do.

Tip for your constellations? The front two stars on the bowl of the Big Dipper… if you draw a line through them, they’ll lead to Polaris. AKA the North Star.
1) Fishing is just too tedious imo.. If u hunt every chicken u hear u should be ok and u can do it while scavenging 2) I personally keep at least 1 stack of every ammo i find untill i find a gun i am able to use 3) When u spawn in a big city.. go deeper.. the surrounding buildings are those where every fresh player goes and are more likely to be empty 4) When u find a bottle.. empty it first and refill at pump.. the water in spawned bottle would make u sick 5) I recommend avoiding/rushing through industrial areas as fresh player cuz theres no food.. but u can find there some clothes, weapons and other stuff good luck!
Fishing is tedious, but extremely efficient. All of these tips are reasonable, but I shared my style of play/preference and it's cool to see someone else's! I'm sure someone will find it useful.🤠
This is a game I’ve got a few hours in and it’s one of the only games where idc about being the best, I just enjoy exploring and having no idea where I am, I can just walk for hours starving to death and the relief when I find a lone house with peaches is unmatched, but maybe it’s time to take my surviving seriously so I’m here
Haha dude your into is spot on. I got it cause of Frankie but my first hour I was so mad at myself, I was about to ask for my first refund on the PS5. I stuck with it. I survived. I improved. It was unforgiven, it was hard. I loved it!!!!
Although that can be a good way to learn, it creates bad habits when you transition to more hardcore/vanilla gameplay (if you plan to go that direction). But thanks for the feedback dude. Glad you enjoyed🤠 the worm was probably why you subbed😁😉
Navigation is hard as a newbie, but you'll get there! Try finding a map in game or a hiking trail and travel that way! Don't hoard though, it'll slow you down and be more of a kick in the gut when you inevitably die and lose it all😉😂
I haven't ran into a player that wasn't friendly so far on Xbox. Probably a good 5 of em. 1 dropped all his stuff for me. What keeps kicking my ass are diseases. Still learning the Map to accurately locate where I am and where the nearest hospital is

Medical supplies are incredibly important. I've gotten all the way to the north west airbase and then died of food poisoning because I couldn't find tetra
There is also fruit trees around on the coast and some bushs have plumbs under them. I just bought the game yesterday and my food was red when I noticed some fruit under a tree the 1st tree had 1 dried and 1 rotten so I took the dried fruit and ate it then I ate the 2nd and it's kept me alive and then I tried cooking one to see what would happen; I forget what it said but it was not dried anymore. I don't know if cooking it gave me more nutrients or calories but when the fruit was hot it helped warm me up. Then I found a chicken killed it cooked it now I have bones to hopefully make a hook for my improvised fishing rod which I made with rope and a stick. My 1st life lasted no longer than 10 mins my 2nd is almost 2 hours old thanks to the dried fruit. I'm pretty sure I found a map but I can't seem to open it.
Hey Bwad99, was watching your stream earlier today. Good luck in the 2vall competition. I'd love to see a mid-level guide for what to do one you're slightly loaded out.
I just started the game yesterday. Needless to say, I’m pretty frustrated. That’s okay though, because I love having to buy new controllers after breaking them! Haha! Seriously though, I love games that challenge your brain and your patience.
Making the fire made my day! eating raw chicken and mushrooms wasn't the best. Yup I'm a freshie noob!! All very helpful hints and tricks that I will use learning the game.
I bought the game today and here are some of my points for other newcomers: 1) When you spawn, you will always face North, and will usually spawn close to the coast (the South and East side of the map). Download a pic of the map from Google, open it in MS Paint and tab between the map and the game, or use a phone/tablet if you play on console. Use the map, the land around you, and common sense to find your approximate location. Navigating is therefore not 'extremely difficult' as this guy says. A compass helps, too. 2) When you need food desperately, look around haybales. Mushrooms often grow around these and are edible without cooking. 3) If you find latex gloves in a medical tent, there is a chance that they will prevent you from bloodying your hands. I had them on and gutted a chicken and had no hand blood and was unable to wash my hands, and I haven't caught cholera since. 4) Head inland sooner rather than later, both to find better loot and to avoid other players near the shores. 4) If you spend time out in the rain, your clothing will become wet. This will lower your temperature and might also worsen the insulation level of the clothing. Place the clothing in your hands, and you will have the option to wring it out.
Navigation IS extremely difficult for new players. Using out of game resources to help meta game your way through it obviously makes that a bit easier, but I definitely do not recommend resorting to that.
Guns and ammo are more common than cutting tools for me personally lmao though I've only been playing for a couple hours so far, gonna keep at it and even though its a very punishing game for newbies it's definitely fun
Thanks dude I didn't know what todo I eat drink but when I die start all over again and I didn't know how to start fire and other things I bought this game 2 years ago I was so bored didn't no much but now after watching ur video ima play now lol thanks
The official dayz server iv'e started out on, and been playing on, someone has based up the water pumps making it almost impossible to survive long enough to find either medicine, clorine tabs, or a pot to boil the water.
You will struggle man, it's part of the learning process. Once you get the hang of surviving your first hour or so, you'll be golden. Keep it up! Especially if you're enjoying it now when things are tough. 🤠
I wouldn't call that a major trip. You need a wire and pliers to make the trap I believe and it can take a very long time to catch a rabbit in the trap itself. Not something a beginner should spend time doing imo.
@@bwad99 takes less than 10 mins and I find pliers and wire before I find a fishing pole sometimes. I wouldn't have suggested it if it wasnt a viable option.
@@marcusphillips7429 sure. You have to wait awhile in between catches. You might have to with fishing too, but it takes much less time and yields 110 more calories per piece of meat when baked. It's a decent option for sure,, but just not as worth.

Hahahaha I try to make it relatable and relevant to someone who I imagine to be brand new. We've all been there! Glad you found it helpful and I wish you the best of luck :)
Nice dude! Glad to help you and your buddies out. Best of luck out there!
Mate your a top TH-camr, really well explained and kept me watching. Determined to get into this game
Really appreciate that! Glad to be able to help you wanna get the game! DayZ is an amazing game man, I say go for it!!
Don't eat the dead people, you'll start laughing like a hyena if you eat human flesh. I spent an entire server session wipe to wipe just hunting a cannibal crew once. There was a whole group of crazy cannibals in my server, so I made it my goal to make life difficult on them.
Nice dude! Gotta love stuff like that. Makes things interesting
Got tired of seeing all the fun clips of days and people interacting. Am downloading now and just watched your video so I know how to start. Thank you sir.
thanks mate, got the game few weeks ago and this helped me a lot even though im still having trouble finding axes and pickaxes
No problem! Glad to help. Axes and Pickaxes will spawn in industrial warehouses, sheds, containers and even small sheds behind houses and such. Just gotta keep looking dude.
@@bwad99 Thanks a lot once again!
Great video! I’ve finally learned all the basics for a beginner!
Nice dude! Keep.worling on the simple aspects of survival and expand your knowledge and skills from your in game experiences. Keep going!🤠👍
The bark and short stick for starting a fire without a lighter or matches is super good to know, iv starved to death in the game with a skimmed chicken cause I had no way to start my fire, watched a video on this stuff before and they didn’t mention it, thanks for the tip!
Yeah, in all honestly matches are useless!
@@bwad99 Nice! Which section of this video talks about improvised knives, by the way? I'm having trouble finding it.
@@chexo3 I don't believe I touched on it specifically. But you can combine two small stones together for a stone knife! Or on some modded servers, you can combine bones with rags to make a bone knife :)
The intro is probably the most accurate day one DayZ experience.
"This game sucks the fuck do I even do"
😆 😆 😆
Speaking from experience with friends who are new to DayZ I have heard this sentence multiple times lol .
Good new player tips & a good video ✌🥔
Very well done video. as a person coming back after many years this helped
Also clouds always travel East. Oldschool guys will know that
And remember, no matter how perfect of a run you have, it could all end up with a black screen and "You are dead" message
They ALL do. That's the beauty of DayZ🤣 Thank you dude 🤠💙
@@bwad99 this tutorial is so outdated it was made a year ago
@@matthewarnett6274 it was made in late November. Not outdated.
@@matthewarnett6274 lmao what? It came out a month ago and it’s not like dayz has received any big patches
Bought the game today and your video has been a big help :)
Thankyou so much dude
Have quite a few that might help you as you learn the game, but best of luck!!! Learn from your experiences, don't get attached to your gear, and don't be afraid to try new things. You got this 🤠
Bought the game yesterday and have had little time to play... Totallyyyyyyy for THE WORM CURSE, awesome vid man thank you! liked n subbed
thank you so much for this video it's easily the most helpful and noob friendly video i've seen and i feel like i can actually play the game now
Nice! Glad to be of help🤠💙
Love this video, very to the point and I enjoyed the comedy. Great work!
Good guide ;)
It could be EASLY longer but is OK as an PREVIEW of what are the BASICS!
As it was intended lol. I'm making several of them in a sort of series to help players progressively improve.
If it's not completely positive he doesn't like your comment lmao
@@galapagosgurdy6109 Ever think that it just slips my mind because I'm a human being with a lot of other things that I'm juggling at the same time IRL? I took the time to respond. As I do with every comment. So sorry that I didn't heart this one in particular lMAO.
@@bwad99 oh wait really? The field bag Is a Camo bag isn't it? Thought that would mean it's harder to see, damn
@@thedropbear8085 it's more about the physical size of it. Sticks out like crazy dude.
@@bwad99 yea had a mate check it out with me and DAMN it's noticeable
I wish they make next DayZ extremely real life survival and extremely difficult. Zero promts and all instinct and shared knowledge and some situations which require teamwork. 🤔 Great video. 👍
Thanks! I want it to be more hardcore too😂
@@bwad99 Accidents and injury should be fatal 90% of the time and where is infection? Sniper Elite bullet graphics be sweet.
Project Zomboid is rly good in term on realistic
I think they should make official "hardcore" pve servers.... Im new to the game, the last thing i want is it getting harder. With other players to worry about, i think we need a cap on the realism lol. Hardcore pve, maybe with some new bosses or some sort of things to do.
The intro was spot on! Just started 2 games ago and thought what a waste! 😂😂🤣🤣
🤣🤣 well I hope I was able to help bring ya back and enjoy the game dude. Good luck out there🤠
watching this with 4,200 hours incase I missed something in the game LUL
EDIT: thankfully knew everything and gotta say it was a solid guide
LMAO. Never hurts to try and learn new things dude! Hopefully you could learn/take something away from this vid or one of my other guides🤠💙
Ayyye good stuff man. Appreciate the feedback🤠 If there are any guides you think I should cover or you'd like to see me make, feel free to throw out ideas dude! Open to anything. Just trying to help others enjoy DayZ as much as I do👍
Tip for your constellations? The front two stars on the bowl of the Big Dipper… if you draw a line through them, they’ll lead to Polaris. AKA the North Star.
Very helpful and well explained, thanks a lot dude
No worries man. Appreciate the kind words🤠
I fell for the worm finger. Take your subscription.
🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱😉
quiet calming and informative I reccomend it...
I'm talking about the learning curve btw
🤣🤣🤣 appreciate it either way my guy🤠
Great guide! Thanks as I'm just starting Day-z I can't wait for it to (self inflicted) ruin my life.
1) Fishing is just too tedious imo.. If u hunt every chicken u hear u should be ok and u can do it while scavenging
2) I personally keep at least 1 stack of every ammo i find untill i find a gun i am able to use
3) When u spawn in a big city.. go deeper.. the surrounding buildings are those where every fresh player goes and are more likely to be empty
4) When u find a bottle.. empty it first and refill at pump.. the water in spawned bottle would make u sick
5) I recommend avoiding/rushing through industrial areas as fresh player cuz theres no food.. but u can find there some clothes, weapons and other stuff
good luck!
Fishing is tedious, but extremely efficient. All of these tips are reasonable, but I shared my style of play/preference and it's cool to see someone else's! I'm sure someone will find it useful.🤠
This video was so helpful, I just got the game and this helped a lot. Thank you.
POV: You're trapped in a communist country with Zombies and contemplating if hell would be more enjoyable
🤣🤣🤣
Simple, funny, straightforward! Absolutely top video! Helps lots 👍
You helped make my 1st day go smooth. Thanks for the Intel man.
Aye nice man. GG! Happy to help!
Find small trees in the forest to break a few and get a Long Stick which is blunt survival weapon!
I remember in my first ever game just jumping off a 1 story roof thinking that I’d maybe get some minor fall damage - boy was I wrong
Loved this man. Made me lmao in the beginning of it. Like you read my mind.
I just understand the struggle. We've alllll been there.
This is a game I’ve got a few hours in and it’s one of the only games where idc about being the best, I just enjoy exploring and having no idea where I am, I can just walk for hours starving to death and the relief when I find a lone house with peaches is unmatched, but maybe it’s time to take my surviving seriously so I’m here
Welcome Mr. Marston. This ain't the wild west, but the people act like it is.
This is the best informative video I’ve ever seen about day z I may dive back into it
Good job! A like and a sub from this 1st time viewer!
This is the perfect starter video, thank you good sir 🙏
xD just tried to find a guide for my brother... THIS is it :3 thx a lot, funny dude explaining it well in short time
He got me with the worm curse
it'll get ya every time
Dude, this is the perfect video right now. Thank you.
Happy to help💙🤠
I bought this game for my friends but they don't play it but i played a bit of pvp but don't actually know how to but now I can thank you!
Hopefully I helped a bit!! :)
Haha dude your into is spot on. I got it cause of Frankie but my first hour I was so mad at myself, I was about to ask for my first refund on the PS5. I stuck with it. I survived. I improved. It was unforgiven, it was hard. I loved it!!!!
Atta boy. Hell yeah dude!!!
You can aslo make a improv hook from a small stick and a bladed tool like a knife
I'm still in the 'Boosted Loot server' stage, so I appreciate the advice. Not sure if it was the worm or the info ... but I felt compelled to sub.
Although that can be a good way to learn, it creates bad habits when you transition to more hardcore/vanilla gameplay (if you plan to go that direction). But thanks for the feedback dude. Glad you enjoyed🤠 the worm was probably why you subbed😁😉
Thanks for the help, I just got this game, I hoard and I also keep looping and somehow keep ending back at the coast lol
Still learning the Map to accurately locate where I am and where the nearest hospital is
the intro to this video just earned you a like and sub, “what the fuck, this game sucks” was literally how i felt when i played this game ahhahaha , i hope this video can make me give it another try, it’s been years
I know the pain of a new player and I just wanted to make the video relatable🤣 welcome.back to DayZ my dude. Best of luck out there!
Medical supplies are incredibly important. I've gotten all the way to the north west airbase and then died of food poisoning because I couldn't find tetra
Coming back to DayZ so I gotta brush up. Last time I played was 2015ish, when you could just stay on the coast and Elektro/Cherno
Nice dude, welcome back! Hope this helps!🤠
This really helped me and I enjoyed it a lot! Would love to see an expanded video
Just found the intermediate guide
@@skend3489 I was gonna recommend that🤣 an advanced one is on my list for the future!
The beginning is so accurate 🤣
Damn you got me with the worm curse but luckily I subscribed in time
Hey Bwad99, was watching your stream earlier today. Good luck in the 2vall competition. I'd love to see a mid-level guide for what to do one you're slightly loaded out.
First time I’ve seen you’re videos, and you my friend have definitely earned yourself a sub!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. Hope you find them helpful🤠💙
Having the app (or a app) is deff a must
I absolutely love this community
🤠🤠🤠💙
I just started the game yesterday. Needless to say, I’m pretty frustrated. That’s okay though, because I love having to buy new controllers after breaking them! Haha!
Seriously though, I love games that challenge your brain and your patience.
Making the fire made my day! eating raw chicken and mushrooms wasn't the best. Yup I'm a freshie noob!! All very helpful hints and tricks that I will use learning the game.
Nice! You gotta live and learn in DayZ, good luck out there!
Man, I just started playing and navigating your inventory on console is so difficult
Dude, how the fuck do you only have 18,000 Subscribers? This is quality content.
Appreciate you legend💙
Definitely fell for the worm finger. Instant sub also just getting the game today this is super helpful.
Good to hear dude, best of luck!🪱🪱🪱🤠
"dark" lmao good one, this is great! downloading now
Niiice best of luck to ya🤠
i love that he kept the "blelelelelelel" when he got tongue tied lmao. me too
All the time lmao. Nobody's perfect 🤷♂️😂
I bought the game today and here are some of my points for other newcomers:
1) When you spawn, you will always face North, and will usually spawn close to the coast (the South and East side of the map).
Damn I didn’t know you can ring your clothes out smh
Guns and ammo are more common than cutting tools for me personally lmao though I've only been playing for a couple hours so far, gonna keep at it and even though its a very punishing game for newbies it's definitely fun
Thanks dude I didn't know what todo I eat drink but when I die start all over again and I didn't know how to start fire and other things I bought this game 2 years ago I was so bored didn't no much but now after watching ur video ima play now lol thanks
Ayyye good stuff. It's a learning process for sure, but you got this! Good luck man🤠👍
@@bwad99 hey what todo when my blood is low I kept on fainting
@@youreinmyoffice4273 fill up on food and water and wait for it to regen. or you can use a saline bag to boost the process.
The first part of the video was exactly what i was thinking😂
The official dayz server iv'e started out on, and been playing on, someone has based up the water pumps making it almost impossible to survive long enough to find either medicine, clorine tabs, or a pot to boil the water.
Love you're videos man . Great help
Inspired to keep going
You just described my friends reaction to this game in 30 seconds lol
Bought it 2 days ago and still struggling but it’s fun
You will struggle man, it's part of the learning process. Once you get the hang of surviving your first hour or so, you'll be golden. Keep it up! Especially if you're enjoying it now when things are tough. 🤠
Wow... I didn't know this game was this detailed... It is really fun though
Great video with one major tip left out...rabbits are just as viable as a bulk starter food as fish with the new trap they recently added.
@@marcusphillips7429 more 2nd tier rather than beach bob

Nothing wrong with all that :)
Just started playing and I wouldn’t consider myself horrible. Manage to find good loot and keep my health up. Unfortunately though countless times after getting everything I need someone shoots me in the head from out of nowhere. Guess it’s karma for killing people w out mics. So frustrating tho lol.
