That nib rotation kinda kills it for me. I was just about to pull the trigger, not so much now. In gloomier conditions the nib placement is not easily seen. It would be no problem if the nib alignment is determinable from the bolt or the added clip. Thanks for the mini-review.
As I wrote on the short, I am finding it drying out very quickly if I don't use it every day. Cool look, but my Pilot Vanishing Point is much more reliable as an EDC. I also am finding it easy to dislocate the nib... especially after I think I put the spring in the wrong way. No leaks though yet, which I was a bit worried about. Happy writing.
@@ForTheLoveOfPens Agreed. Not sure where they can go from here, though. The three main retractable designs from the bigger outfits require quite a bit more engineering for that stable nib angle whenever you extend it.
@@psychophipps I personally would’ve made the split near the middle (similar to the Pilot VP) so you can pull the nib unit from the back of the converter. Maybe also put notches in the back sleeve that pushes on the converter to extend the nib. These notches could mesh with the ribs on the converter’s piston rod and prevent the nib unit from rotating.
mine leaks! whenever i leave it tucked into a notebook and carry it around in my backpack or pocket, i'll find ink has dribbled out and soaked into the pages
It is an interesting concept and mostly well made but the nib rotation is unknown. It is almost like they are using a Parker type mechanism that rotates a ballpoint refill? Other than that I can't explain it.
@@paulmchugh1430 it’s very similar to bolt action ballpoints. Personally I would’ve added a key to the sleeve to stop the nib from rotating. That would probably add a little tooling cost, but would also fix a pretty big issue. I’m disappointed none of the TH-cam reviewers who got early samples mentioned this.
This pen was a disappointment for the reasons you mentioned, plus I’ve had horrible drying out issues. If not used every day, it will dry out. And I think the reason for this is ink crusting up on the silicone seal, not allowing it to close completely. Huge flaw. I’d be interested to hear if you had the same issue.
Unfortunately I continue to have issues with this pen. I haven't had the dry-out issue that you mentioned, but when trying to check my ink level the nose cone tends to come apart while the base is still attached to the body. I appreciate that ensso tried something new with this model, but I think it needs more R&D.

@@philnaunton7181 that was pretty disappointing to me too. I suspect it’s because the bolt action turns to lock in place.

Just got mine in an Extra Fine … very nice pen. No issues with all that you point out. 🤷🏻♂️
@@SpyStaMia that’s great! I’m glad you’re enjoying it 😊
Very cool design. So funky design. Might have to get one if it's still available. I thought the bolt was only a ball pen. Thanks.
Thanks. Just got one at the Kickstarter with a clip too. The special price is available a bit longer.
Not bad for taking a ballpoint/rollerball design and ramming a fountain pen into it. It has all the pluses, and minuses, such a design choice entails.
@@psychophipps I’m glad ensso innovated to bring this to market, but there is certainly room for improvement.

@@charlieschuyler_1992ny you may want to consider changing the seal.
@@ForTheLoveOfPens i will try this

@@ForTheLoveOfPens I posed the question about the rotating nib to a few other reviewers. So far I have received a mention of a rotating nib.

Will it also accept ink cartridges?
I don't have an international long cartridge on me, but it does fit international shorts.
