But that girl knew the dresscode, and she chose to break the rules anyways. In life, people are gonna tell you what to wear. You can't just break the rules because you want to.
i like how the boys stood up for her too, everyone agreed that the dress code was unfair edit: i was gonna say thankyou all for the likes because i thought people agreed with me but after reading the replies idk what to say anymore. Standing up for the opposite gender aint simping
That principal is literally breaking the rules by picking on students and trying to ruin a child's property. She's also being sexist, and humiliating her in front of everyone. Also, I'm pretty sure that a principal can't just suspend someone on the spot for violating the dress code. They at least have to run it by someone first, I'm sure. (I could be wrong on that point though) And the principal can't just 'decide what's right' They have rules to follow too.
At my school, girls can't wear tank tops, but boys can. Not just spaghetti straps, but also regular ones. This is both sexist to the girls and the boys. So girls have shoulders. Big deal. So do boys. Why do we have to hide it and they don't? We can't control it. And as for the boys, it assumes that all boys are just looking for any opportunity to catch a peek at a girl's skin. I've seen at least ten girls wear tank tops around boys, and the boys didn't even notice. It's not fair to both genders.
So I actually never thought about this again until now but in high school, my private school would punish dress codes by making the students do physical labor (taking out the trash, cleaning etc) in addition to missing class and walking across campus to the deans. What I started to notice is that when I would wear what the other girls would, I would get punished. I’m 5’10 black girl, and I have long arms and that arm test was always used. My fingertips literally go past my knees lol. When I would point out that my white friends could wear the literal exact same thing, and never got a violation, I was told that I was more “tempting” and needed to take more precautions than her. When I pointed out that no one ever liked me, that I constantly got bullied and never had a boyfriend, where’s the temptation, she said: “well we know what happens when we don’t stop these behaviors in “you guys” young. I’m just trying to help you avoid becoming another single black unwed mother. Let’s not play dumb like we don’t know how the world is. And don’t try to pull the race card. I’m trying to help.” Intersectionality is important. Sexism and racism go hand in hand. This video reminded me of this time in my life and it came back like a flood, I remember every word, every expression. And I remember how I felt at the time. Conflicted, hurt, confused, defeated, embarrassed, humiliated and eventually numb, to the point that I blocked it out and moved on. As a child I saw humiliated but as an adult All I see was the sexualization and dehumanization of a black child.

This makes me glad that I have to wear a uniform, even though I have to wear a tie, a shirt, a blazer, a jumper, black socks, and trousers. In my school in Wales, I am glad we get treated equally.
Fun fact: I once got dress coded by my old principal for my hair style and outfit while my friend didn't, we were wearing the exact same thing because it was twin day

Technically, that principal would get fired for touching another student without consent, and adding unofficial rules and blackmailing their students. The principal does not have the authority to do such things, and would get fired effective immediately.

Same, my school right now has the same dress code except they apply to both girls and boy. Next year, I will be in high school and this school has uniforms.
Honestly unless the outfit is truly "inappropriate" and reveals unwanted places, both genders should wear what they feel like. Amber's outfit was totally fine for her age. But society needs to be careful about what they put out into the world. This is really a complicated problem.
I agree. People should focus on life priorities more than outfits. If people look, that's their choice. You're responsible for what you wear, Not what people think about it.

everyone: focused on how unfair this is Me: focused on how Amber got in trouble about her jeans, shirt straps, and shorts, but not how she was wearing a crop top lol 😅
It was just a shirt, it was a shirt that violated the dress code, and she knew it but she still wore it. Why are we being taught that if you do something bad, and a higher authority gives you consequences, that higher authority(the principal) is bad or a villain? She did what she was supposed to.
Bro the teachers go for the more curvy girls, and the boys probably won't even notice our shoulders. Schools dress code is so not fair, the girls can't show skin or tight clothes and the boys can walk around topless and not be dress coded. I know so many of my friends have gotten dress coded because of her skirt length 😢 like the script said women aren't objects. The boys don't even care, the girls should be able to wear what makes them, them. This is so relatable 😢😢 women are people just like the boys. The boys dont distract us with there shoulders and we do not distract them with our legs Do we want our next generation to learn wrong? No! Not all boys are pigs or pervs. 😢 women should be able to wear what makes them confident in there own skin.❤❤❤❤ L9ve ya dhar mann
That is cold. I can’t believe that Amber got suspended for a week for not only violating the dress code, but refusing to do what she was told to from her principal.
As a straight teen who agrees with the dress code shoulders don't really distract me but I believe the rule was created to stop girls from crossing a boundary. Same with the collar bone rule. Imagine if they didn't exist.. you know very well many girls would come to school with huge cleavage showing
@@everythingsgonnabealright7924 No, girls NOW know about how they are being treated. I as a middle school student was wearing a regular t-shirt and leggings and many other girls were wearing just what I was wearing and I had gotten school dress code on my FIRST week there. I had asked what was the problem and they had simply told me NOTHING about what had been the problem and they would write it up. This happened about near the end of school were literally nobody was paying attention to me or would see me as a 'distraction' when they were busy getting to class within the 5 minutes in crowded halls. Girls will probably not do that because schools and society already make us feel insecure and unsure of ourselves because whatever we wear is 'slutty' and a 'distraction'. They say It's too short. They say it is not appropriate for the weather as well even though they would rather have us wear sweaters in heat for wearing a t-shirt that is not too short or long either. What I do know very well is that you are uneducated and know nothing about this topic and how it has hurt girls from even just 11 years old. They just want girls to follow men's rules and believe their sayings of when 'we want it' and 'we are asking for it'. On the news in 2017 a SECOND GRADE girl who is about 10-11 wore a dress with a shirt that was only 2 finger strap. A YOUNG girl who has no intention of it? A second grade minor is a distraction? Let's teach men like you to respect girls instead of telling us to shut up, cover up, and obey.
@Addison Clark incorrect. sjw is a term made for when someone stands up for what's right, interupting the main stream. and considering this comment has 0 likes, it seems everyone else agrees. like if you're with me, not farming likes for damn status, but asking for people to rise up with me.
Huh. Funny how speaking out about the truth tends to be interpreted as "talking back" - perhaps it is speaking of something others don't want to acknowledge, of voicing your opinions? Very insightful video!
Because those OLD FARTS don't want to hear our opinions. They think we, the youth of today, lack experience that's why in their proud and delusional minds, we don't deserve to be heard. But THEY ARE THE PROBLEM because they are UNWILLING to accept the fact that times have changed!
"A single bee can be easily ignored. But when faced off against an entire swarm, even the bravest run in fear." I loved how the students stood up against the injustice of the principal's choice on the dress code.
Tbh, I understand why they say no shorts or crop tops cause boys will still look at you either way, even if u tell them, they still won’t keep theyre eyes of you! you should be the smarter person to wear clothes.
@@riceeater3244 But that isn't our fault that we have curve and it shows. Boys will look at you regardless of what you are wearing. They are teaching young girls to cover up what they have instead of punishing the boys
this actually happened to me when i started wearing more feminine clothes in high school. my principal word for word said to me that “if your going to dress like a girl we are gonna treat you like one” it’s so crazy to think that this is still an issue
Karen is jealous because her boyfriend/husband left her because of her of beauty and does not want amber to have every boy attracted to her because amber's beauty
I have another story for you so basically at my middle school ( before I went there ) my sister walked by this girl who was crying because she had been dress coded for wearing a crop but she had a shirt under it the teacher who dress coded her was not aloud to use the dress code without another teachers consent
Instead of teaching teaching girls to be ashamed of what they wear, teach the boys not to look at women like we’re objects! If the guys are staring at us like creeps, clearly the girls aren’t the problem! 🙄 Like- when it’s hot, we wear tank tops, when it’s cold, we wear sweaters! Deal with it! Thx Dhar Mann for this great video! Edit: hey! So um…a lot of people got upset by this comment and I just wanted to clarify that I did not mean all boys are rude! I only meant like 2% of them! Principal Adams: That’s in complete violation of the dress code!
In a cool way 😎
Yes that is what she does

In Bri'ain everyone would rela'e to as wearing your daily outfit to school is full violation of dress code in Bri'ain.
The boys dont distract us with there shoulders and we do not distract them with our legs
Do we want our next generation to learn wrong? No! Not all boys are pigs or pervs. 😢 women should be able to wear what makes them confident in there own skin.❤❤❤❤

Because why would they say that?

The simplest solution is to just use school uniforms that everyone has to wear. Sometimes freedom isnt always good.

These "based on a real story" episodes are the best!
I have another story for you so basically at my middle school ( before I went there ) my sister walked by this girl who was crying because she had been dress coded for wearing a crop but she had a shirt under it the teacher who dress coded her was not aloud to use the dress code without another teachers consent
she doesnt make sense, if by her logic then can boys wear skirts? smh. can boys wear bras? can boys wear hair tie? thats her logic
Instead of teaching teaching girls to be ashamed of what they wear, teach the boys not to look at women like we’re objects! If the guys are staring at us like creeps, clearly the girls aren’t the problem! 🙄
Like- when it’s hot, we wear tank tops, when it’s cold, we wear sweaters! Deal with it!
