Our 5 year old 8620 printer was in need of a cleaning big time. I ran the print head alignment feature in the tools menu and put the built in cleaning feature through its 3 different cleaning levels 3 times. It's printing like new again...no syringes or cleaning fluid required!

Bought a different printhead cleaner for HP 8620 (less expensive) but didn't follow the Chinese instructions. Instead stuck with Brian's protocol (heating solution; pushing bigger quantities through), Used the whole 100 ml bottle. Let it dry overnight and my printer now works great! Thanks so much for this satisfying DIY video.!

I bought a new printhead and it has moisture liquid in it. How do I get that liquid out of there?
after cleaning the printhead can I reinstall the printhead right after cleaning with the new ink cartridges? Also I got the error code 0xc19a0013.
You really should be waiting 24 hours before reinstalling. Those instructions are on the cleaning kit if you use the best printers branded kit.

I am out of the cleaning solution. Can I just use rubbing alcohol? maybe diluted?

Hi! Thank you so much for doing this great video. I have a 6 year old HP 8620 and I had been getting a message off and on for years that "the printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed." For a long time I would resolve this message by turning the machine on and off again and it would work fine. I definitely run my ink down as I didn't realize the problems it could cause (I do now!). Last year at the start of covid, the printer stopped working all together and I replaced it with the only thing that the stores had available at the time which was an inexpensive printer from another manufacturer that I don't like at all. So here's my question: given that this message has been going off and on for years, and that the printer has been sitting idle for a year and a half, does it seem worth it to buy a new printhead and try it or should I just move on to another printer? Thank you!
Can we just use 91% alcohol to clean inside the PH? I believe that's what I used to clean my Canon photo printer before storing it in a plastic bag. I've heard some people use deionized water with dish soap also. I already have a kit
Thanks for making this video! Your comment that the failure could be caused by low ink sent me off to check ink levels by removing each ink cartridge to check contents-the cyan was out of ink. Put in a new cartridge and voila!, the printer is back in action.
I had just installed brand-new ink cartridges. After installing the cartridges, there was an ink and print system error message. The printer shut down the printing function. Do I still need to buy new ink cartridges?
I was having trouble with the yellow printing dark so I cleaned only that slot... and now that I've reinstalled the printer head with ink cartridges, I get "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP." I have taken the printer head out, reinstalled it, taken the cartridges out and reinstalled them too, 2 times, turned the printer off and back on, unplugged it from the wall, all while rubbing my stomach and patting the top of my head... AND I still get the above message. What am I doing wrong?!

Great video! After I took out the printhead, I noticed that something rattles inside the printhead part. Does this mean that something is broken inside the printhead and I should just order a new one? I know that sounds like a dumb question but I want to be certain before I order an expensive part. Thanks.
These HP Officejet 8600 series printers are excellent easy to clean printhead with the right cleaning tools. It is very important to avoid too much pressure because it is possible to break the plastic ink storage which might cause leaks / ink pump does not get the ink to the printhead because of air leak .

What if after you finish is cleaning put it back together and it still coming up error code printer head missing or not detected what should I do then?
I asked the same question with also no response so I'm going to goggle it to see if their is a solution before trashing the printer.
Purchased both the suggested cleaning solution then a new printhead. I still am getting the failed printhead message. Any suggestions??
If those two things fail, it time to junk the printer.

No, just make sure it is dry before reinstalling.
Buying a new print head is bad advice....my HP 8620 cost $149 and a new print head costs about the same. Just buy a whole new printer obviously.

I cleaned per instructions and my POS hp printer just stays on an error message (printer or ink system problem) and I can’t go forward.
It may be time for a replacement then.
I am experiencing persistent issues with my HP OFFICEJET PRO 8600 Premium Printer. Specifically, I am encountering Cyan Y cartridge errors and damaged messages. The printer goes into alignment mode and continues spinning without ever returning online. Despite purchasing flushing kits from Amazon and thoroughly cleaning the cartridges to remove any dirt or debris, the problem persists. I am deeply frustrated because this printer produces amazing print quality, and I am reluctant to get rid of it. If you have any recommendations or advice, I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

Is there any way to use the scanner function of an 8600 printer when the printer head is throwing a fault??? I have a perfectly good older 3600 LaserJet printer but it has no scan capability. My 8600 plus started failing with a printer head fault just after installing an after market print cartridge. Why in the world would HP cripple all the features of an all in one printer when one function is faulted? Considering this printer worked well for a number of years and only failed after trying an after market cartridge. If HP didn't charge an arm and a leg for printer cartridge replacements, I would have bought them but at 200 bucks for a set of XL carriages that do not last all that long, I will likely never by another HP printer.
It would be difficult, you will want to fix the error code first.
I flushed them out and followed the instructions of the video but im still geting that error code 0xc19a0013. Any suggestions now?
Thanks for the instruction on doing several pull-push motions after finding the initial attempt to push is entirely blocked. This allowed me to successfully unblock and flush the non-working color in my print head. @Luciérnaga Patagónica, I did not need to clean until the solution came out clean. It just needs to run freely with little resistance.
My HP 8620 says printhead appears missing, not detected or incorrectly installed and that happened randomly. I bought the cleaning kit and used it on all 4 colors and this message still coming up. Looked at app to try and align or clean from app but it cannot find the printhead. Any ideas :(

Printhead died after printing one page ok. Not sure if an ink at fault contributing. Won't clean itself unfortunately now. Amazon head replacement I hope!
Yes, at this point, you're gonna need a new printhead head.
Thanks for the video, after performing this procedure, my printer will not align the print head (it gives an error after printing the alignment sheet) and it will not print any color at all. Black looks great but it is like the color cartridges are not installed. I've run many sheets through the printer and changed the cartridges. Any ideas?
download the hp smart app on your computer and under print quality tools select align printheads
Unfortunately, after following EXACT step-by-step instructions this did NOT work for us. We have to replace the entire printer now.

I finally bought a new printhead and put in all new HP printer cartrighes. My printer will still not print!
The printer may be beyond repair then.
It appears " missing or failed printhead" error message on my OfficeJet 8260 printer. Is it gonna solve the issue if I clean the printhead? or do you recommend that I replace the printhead directly?

Cartridge Problem: Until cartridges are installed, make sure the printer is turned on to avoid damage to the printer... hummm. grrrrr.
