    Awesome input! 🙌 Thanks.
    I scored a TRX4 second hand with them. It needed some TLC. and a servo.
    🤔 Im not sure about using WD40 on rubber o-rings. It degrades the material and youll def have problems.
    Also, I didnt remove any of the seals. They are designed specifically as a wiper set and fit together properly. Best you can do is rebuild them on schedule 100% and use the right shock weight silicone oil. (The mods are few... New springs or modify holes in piston, combo there of.) Hope this helps.

    I took the top cap off and used a few drops of shock oil, cycle it by hand, and now works amazing. Didnt need to remove the o ring.

  • @alexanderhanna8937
    @alexanderhanna8937 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    don't put wd40 on an o-ring, it has petroleum distilliates in it, it will break down the print overtime. use paintball gun oil or rc shock oil, it's silicone based. that was my only complaint. other than that great vid!

    Thank you, this video just saved my butt, got 120mm on my superwraith, and 100mm on honcho, zero rebound, sticky, now, perfect, thanks again

    I just put the green venom creeper 120mm shocks on my losi rock rey from my prolines. Holy awesome I just added a few drops of 40weight in each one used the softer spring in each piston and my rock rey glides over boulder/ rock's 15 to 20 mph easy it bunny hops and does 360s like a grasshopper I love these shocks there like pillow soft freestyle shocks. I love em I'm so glad I tried these
    They take up no room no bulky phatboy shocks super strong and if you have ever seen the size of Rock rey Maxxis kit tires there huge these shocks are a perfect match for them and my 3.8 size 40 series badlands. I can't wait to race them I will fly over rocks I wish I would have found these a year ago. What I like is you can make them springy as hell to literally hop on rocks or super smooth with perfect rebound.

    Right on! I have a HPI King Crawler and I bought the HR Racing 120mm shocks for it. However, I was about to trash them and came across your video times to make then return better. After doing what you recommend I put them back on my Rock Crawler and they now work the way I was hoping to begin with. Thanks for the Shock Tips!

    Great video, I assume you've had a chance to crawl with them, what do you think? If it's one thing that annoys me is rebuilding my shocks. I tend to pound on my rig a lot and I end up rebuilding my shocks every few months. I hear mixed feedback about internal spring shocks, what do you think? How bad or good is the ride? Appreciate the feedback. :)

    I bought the 110mm ones and it seems that following your instructions the bottom gets the biggest ball. However it is bigger than the hole on the shock..... Am I supposed to drill it out or did they send me the wrong ball ends?

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @aquaticthumb5193
      @aquaticthumb5193 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Best to use a few drops shock oil (silicone oil) . The carrier fluid in WD-40 will kill seals it evaporates quickly. Petroleum oil eats rubber slowly.

    Thanks, I have been looking at these for years just haven't ordered them yet. Just a heads up WD can be corrosive to rubber and plastic seals.

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are a great shock, honestly. and yup i know. Luckily enough i have been using WD-40 on all my RC trucks for almost 10 years and not ones has anything broken down. I think the o rings and seals used in the rc industry is different to the material used in stuff like dirt bikes and so forth.

    Hey that's cool mate, great tips there, appreciate you going to the trouble to help me and others out with this video, I gave my shocks to an rc friend anyway, I think like bunz my truck was just too heavy, perhaps I should have played around with them more and tried what you said but I moved on to some other shocks, cheers mate :o)

    I know this vid is old, but I have a question. I'm wanting more of a droop setup on my 2.2 Wraith Rock Racer. Would these be good for that? Or should I just save my money and do the stock shock hack with the 3 hole pistons?

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would probably just go with the stock shock hack for now. These were good but they didnt last long as far as o rings go.

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely! I love these shocks! I would certainly recommend them, considering they come with 3 different sets of springs to match the weight of your truck and to set them for how flexible you want the suspension. Considering the cost of them they are an excellent choice IMO.

    pretty sure there sopposed to be filled with oil, then the o rings would be lubricated and it would function properly with the piston traveling through the oil absorbing the shock. no oil equals bouncy bounce

    • @RCOverloadYT
      @RCOverloadYT  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +phil9022 Yes they are, i wanted no fluid for a very flexible setup. I did try later on with 10 and 20 weight oil and the jeep didn't perform all that great with those fluids in it.

    you're funny dude, shocks that just spring back out like that are no good for crawling, it'll easily upset your truck and make it tip over easier. very bad advice, adding a little mineral oil will stop them from sticking.
