  • As an owner of a TR-8 I'm testing the new Roland TR-08. It's a 3 parts review, in this one I made the same pattern in the two devices and tweaked the sounds to try to get the same sounds. Use headphone for this one!

    Thank you sir for the explainings of the Roland drummachine, it helps me to use it, i bought the TR 8. I don’t have any discription of the drummachine, so i have to search how it works. I thank Nu-Trix The Synth Guy for all the info you show, thank you.

    Thank you for making these videos, they're great! I recently purchased a TR-08 and I'm loving it. After more than a decade of producing and using 808 samples (and never used a real 808) I'm really enjoying programming the TR-08. I have to say that many people make too big of a deal regarding samples, the original 808, the TR-8 and the TR-08. All of these sound VERY similar, and almost identical. I recommend for everyone to steer well clear of any purist lunatic that spews hatred towards any of the TR remakes. They all sound great, and honestly, if you just download some 808 samples off the net they will sound great also. The original 808 sounds good, the TR8 sounds good, the TR-08 sounds good and if you get some 808 samples they will sound good too. The 808 has such a legendary sound that it sounds good in ANY format. Samples, remakes, the original 808 or whatever... it doesn't matter where you get the sounds.....it's what you do with them... now go and make music.

    They’ll both be the same because it’s the same circuitry! I have both. The tr-8 is untouchable (imho)......I bought the tr-08 PURELY for its aesthetics. Looks well cool! (but sounds exactly the same) 🕶🎶✌🏻

      The clap, in particular, sounds noticeably weaker on the TR-08 ... ??

    The TR-08 sounds a bit more compressed to my ears, but without the compression I'd say they are the same. I just ordered a TR-8 and plan to run it through a fairchild or a tape emulator to add some excitement. I prefer the aesthetics and simplicity of the TR-08, but the TR-8 has much more versatility at around the same price.

    I own a TR-8 and the TR-08 seems to sound fuller, with more bounce. If you listen carefully you may be able to notice 'holes' in the TR-8 sound. The TR-08 seems to come a bit closer to that saturated 'wall of sound' the TR-808 is known for. Similar, yet phatter like the TR-09.

      That would confirm what Roland is claiming. They say they have even more optimise the algorithm to sound and react like the original TR-808.

    Maybe I am crazy (and biased because I only own the 08) but to me the kick sounds noticeably PHATTER and funkier and basically more closers to the original 808?? I feel like they did just a little bit more legwork and I do believe its worth it tbh.

    Sup super baller. Have you made a vidoe on how to sync other sound machines to the Tr-08. For instance, I have a Korg Volca FM that I would like to sync. Making a video on how to do that would be great!

    Hi Nu Trix.....I play a lot of Berlin school, and Ambient, chill, ( both uptempo & downtempo) but not hip hop or techno. I am looking for a drum machine that is not oriented towards hip hop, EDM or any kind of dance oriented music. Rather I am looking for a drum machine that lends itself towards Tangerine Dream type of compositions and artists like that.....any suggestions please? Thank you!

      if you didn't buy one yet, try arturia's drumbrute impact. very industrial, with fm drum channel for strange sounds. i have that one and tr-8, and i didn't use tr-8 yet. and sequencer on this little thing is sick. all that for just 300$ more or less.

    what do you prefer the roland tr-08 or the roland auturia tr-8 for trapbeats?

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YOUNG CREEP I would go for the Tr-08 mostly for the microsteps for creating beats.

    Hey Mate, is it possible to connect the boutiques to through USB to the MX-1?

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MinimalWave1982 , For all the boutique it tested yet, they all transmit MIDI and audio over USB to and from the MX-1. I tested the TB-03, TR-09, TR-08, Sh-01a, VC-03 and they all supports it. In the case of the Tr-08 if it is not connected to the only powered USB of the MX-1, you need to change internally a setting that permits the unit to run on battery while still sending audio and MIDI over USB. If I remember well, you have to turn on the unit while keeping the button 9 pressed.

      Yes, set up a multi-output device in the midi / audio app (MacOSX). I managed to get 30 channels, separate outs for the TR08 - moves your productions away from the stock sounds of the TR08! ;-)

    Hi! On the TR-8,how many sounds can be played on a step?

    • @Nu-trix
      @Nu-trix  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each "instrument/track" can be played simultaneously. So 11 sounds + external in.

      Not really, I was never interested in having the Tr-08. I prefer the TR-8 or TR-8s sound design capabilities, workflow and user interface.
