I bought a Superman Heritage when they were still offering the ETA inside. The movement works very well, the QC and watch itself is a miss. The crown stripped out twice and when I sent it back the case came back scratched. It was also a hassle to send it to France via mail from the US (which I ended up having to pay for myself). The bracelet appears to be the same one and was a hair puller from the start and the sharp edges did not help. I ended up taking it to my watchmaker and removing the bezel lock, it’s superficial at best, gets in the way and was sharp as was mentioned. Lesson learned, I drank the cool aid on them once, but have since regretted it and moved on.
Big thanks to Jody from Just One More Watch for giving his honest opinion on our Superman 500 GMT. We are definitely looking forward for more reviews like this one 👍🏼
For me Yema is the Alfa Romeo of watches: on the good side, they look great and have "character". The other side of that equation is some QC issues (i have to send my new led kavinsky back to them for replacement of the led module). My wife has a Yema too, and she loves it. So i like them, and will buy again, but not sure about their in house caliber, not from a technical pov, but i will have to send it to france for repair/service and that could be very time consuming and expensive. Standard calibers could be serviced anywhere.
I've been wearing my Yema Navygraf every day since June (they were doing 40% off over the summer) and I'm really pleased with it so far. Runs about -1/-2 a day and no QC issues I've noticed.
Flygraf owner here, and I'd like to report that while I want to love this brand SO bad, and seriously do love the Flygraf a lot, this is my second time having to send my watch back for QC issues to Yema. My first situation was due to the movement holder being loose, and all of a sudden the movement itself had begun losing 1-2min/day. It was a pain to ship but only because it had to be sent to France. After receiving it back from repair the first time, the movement holder was fixed except they hadn't seem to even touch on the movement losing time. I contacted Yema and they alerted management so now we wait to see if anything's changed from repair #1. Decent customer service. I don't feel them going above and beyond dealing with my inconvenience (i.e maybe throwing in an extra strap out of courtesy for me giving them my $750usd) but at least they are (hopefully) getting the issue resolved. Such a shame because out of my whole watch collection, this Flygraf is what I seem to always be gravitating towards after a year of owning it. It's got such a charm to it.
Great video Jody! Being Scottish, I’ll be waiting for the Seiko movements to roll out before my next GMT purchase. I’m a big fan of the NH movements in general mainly because of the reliability and low servicing costs. I’m also a fan of Seiko’s case finishing - you can’t have sharp edges for a premium feel to a watch.
Gorgeous watch! I tip my hat to you Jody. A quite harsh but fair critique of a sponsor's product. That's the way to do it. You forgot to mention the brand's reputation for less than impressive customer services though 😊
I love the "bezel lockdown" feature but man-on-man there are a lot of nice, reasonably priced competition in this space from Baltic, Christopher Ward and others.
I’ve had a Yema Superman for a while and had a great customer service experience with Yema with the warranty. They stand behind their product. I’ve had nice sweaters catch on the crown lock and pull threads, so be aware of that. Overall great experience and I want to get a rallygraf panda next.
At this price I'd prefer to save and get two - the YEMA NAVYGRAF HERITAGE at $740 on leather or Tropic strap and the LED at $269 - maybe they will give 10% off the pair?
Great review Jody! I love the design look, but $1399 for a caller GMT? Because of your Mido Ocean Star GMT review, I picked it up. A true, swiss made GMT from a heritage brand, powermatic 80 inside, great dimensions (for me anyways) & it was less than this Yema! Crazy if you ask me but I guess most are turned off of the Mido due to the 44mm size. I love it though! Boldr has a Diver GMT on pre-order, $899 with a true gmt movement, the Miyota 9075, but it is also 44mm with a 52mm lug to lug. Good for those of us with an 8inch wrist, not so much for anyone else LOL.
I have a "caller" GMT that I paid more than this haha. A Breitling with a COSC 2892-A2... I much prefer the COSC grade 2892-A2 over the PM80, even if it's not a "true" GMT. The Breitling is also 40mm.
@@El1988Che Don't think you can compare Mido to Breitling. I have a caller GMT from Steinhart, but it's a SW300 & not COSC. It only cost $550 though. My Steinhart is also 44mm lol.
If it's going to be Automatique then it should be the Yema Superhomme. And I don't think the bezel clamp is unique, Glycine has been doing it for aeons. There are plenty of poor customer service reports online and as for the in Chinese house movement, I've read disturbing reviews. I think a Steinhart at less than a third of the price is a better option.
I'm wearing my Superman limited edition while watching this and love it. I'm thankfully happy to report that, I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't (fingers crossed I'm not jinxing myself) had any QC issues. These look really good and I really like the lumed gmt bezels. Another great review of another great watch. Thank you so much, keep up the outstanding work.
Good looking watch. I prefer the larger of the 2, offers more weight balance and less cluttered dial. The crystal is great. Both are pretty high wearing due to minor lug turndown and caseback presence. I'm always moaning about cheap clasps and this one doesn't disappoint my disappointment.
Thanks for doing the two sizes side-by-side for us. That was very helpful. I like a lot about Yema watches; it has so much to like. The deal breaker for me is the flat design of the case - I exclusively prefer a curved case. My loss.
I wouldnt worry too much about qc because their customer support is the best ive ever had in my life. My Yema Flygraf GMT has definitely had a lot of qc issues. I've sent it back to France at least 4 times, I seriously lost count. Yema has paid for the shipping both ways every time.
I own a superman GMT of the previous generation, and one thing that bugged me was the bezel. It is 120 clicks and unidirectionnal, which makes little sense for a GMT, especially since the locking machanism makes unidirectionnality redundant. I see they changed that.
Pricey for the flaws you get. Needs more downward curvature to the case, better accuracy and screw bracelet links. A better looking clasp without a flip lock and just push releases only on the clasp sides would be nice imo. And lastly, move the date to the 6 o'clock position for symmetry.
It's a very tempting watch, Im looking for a proper divers gmt, which rules out the new Seiko. You sound a bit better mate, feeling that way too I trust?
Love my Yema Marine GMT! Their 24hr chat works really well and they are always super helpful. I want to get a Superman in the collection at some point.
Nice looking watches Jody, however after a nightmarish experience a few of years ago with a diver that came with a loose bezel, patchy lume, and worse, missing lume on one of the markers, I was never tempted again. They also had the dedicated customer service line, but got very little satisfaction as they seemed to be dedicated to themselves rather than the customer. It would take a lot of pondering before ever buying again, and as I'm in the market for a GMT, I will definitely go for a safer option, maybe even one of the better Ali Express brands or a good microbrand when they start using the new Seiko GMT movement.
@@andrewallen9993 That is an idea Andrew. I have a Vostok "scuba dude" Amphibia for a few years now, not too bad. I never thought of a GMT. Do you have one? 🙂

Very nice and even handed review, thanks. Curious as to little (or no) mention of the 500m water resistance. That seems a big deal and a solid reason for the higher price, methinks. All the best.
Love the case back reminds me of my older Omega seamaster, I prefer case backs like this then a glass/ plain case backs. The Bracelet looks cheap I actually prefer the rubber strap bracelet and the case looks unfinished its more like when its stamped out of steel and someone forgot to do the fine details
I bought a previous generation Yema GMT (pepsi) last year. I love the design and the French heritage, but I ended up selling it. I guess it was overall personal preferences, but I realized that the overall package in the metal was a bit dull. The matte dial and painted indices just looked dull to me, maybe I have more modern tastes. But I think this watch would stand out so much more with applied indices. Two pluses with this newer generation to me are the bezel (sapphire pops more than aluminum imo) and it looks like they maybe improved the lume? Anyway great balanced review!
I looove my quartz Superman French air force special edition. Such a well made and wearable watch. Would not go fo the bigger size though, 39 is perfect. Nice review!
It’s a nice looking watch. I have the original 41mm superman with the SW200 within and I love it. I avoided the bracelet though. It’s the same case but more polished. Very retro, lovely crystal. I paid well under MSRP and much less than £1k. I’ve heard the in house movement isn’t that reliable though. Great review Jody.
Good review as always 👍 Yema are perhaps charging a bit much for these. But they do look good. GMT watches will be everywhere soon at affordable levels so they may need to offer better prices on these. Hope the voice is better soon 👍
Unique… sort of but in a bad way. Glycine Airman GMT has a bezel lock, which doesn’t compromise the waterproofing when being used as it has a secondary crown.
I like these watches a lot, but it makes me wonder, does the bezel get damaged if you fiddle with the locking mechanism a lot, it might also be a bit annoying if you use it a lot... I've seen a few used watches from this brand, and it appears the bezels can get damaged from the locking mechanism if not too careful. Maybe they could be fixed if there is small rubber on the inside of the locking mechanism, well that's if it's an issue to begin with... not sure
I have the Skindiver SM and I have to say I absolutely adore it. I can't get tired of it and the finish is top notch. It's certainly not my favorite lug-length but wearing it lose it's just about perfect. (...and I didn't know it had divers extension 😀😀)
Wow you have been sick for two weeks.Try hot lemon .ginger and honey before bedtime.might help a tad. Been subscribed for a couple of years but first comment.nice movement.good watch too.cheers Jody👍
Great honest review, like you I'm a fan of the 39mm monochrome with the split day/night on the bezel with the red touches. I've also become a fan of coin bezels recently, my concern is how much does the bezel lock stick up above the bezel, would it get caught easily and bent? I agree the price is a bit high too - but a sharp watch (excuse the pun)
I keep coming back to yemas website and then go to various reviews around TH-cam. Every time there's mention of either sharp edges, customer service issues, movement reliability.. I like the look of it but not for that cost, sorry yema.
I was once in your shoes and I decided to give Yema a try. I always believe in " never try never know". Boy did i regret it. Check my comment on top for the reason why.
I just got the Flygraf automatic. Besides liking the look of it, the ETA 7750 was one of the main factors for me. I love the robustness, reliability and ease of servicing of the old Valjoux. The watch itself is lovely (if rather tall) and it's getting a lot of wrist time........the bracelet and clasp on the other hand are really disappointing and have no place on a watch costing €2000 in Europe.....will definitely be swapping it out with something else.
Yeah, I'm not convinced. I think Yema may still have a way to go to remedy the market's perception of the company. A lot of negative talk about warranty and QC may need to be addressed to convince some of us.
They typically don't sell out very quickly. It's the balance they have chosen I guess. At higher volume they could produce them cheaper and probably sell more but end up with the same revenue in a more generic way.
Mostly really nice but the straight case design looked pretty ordinary when on your wrist. I guess that's the vintage style though. Also that perlage look as rough as guts, not sure why they bothered.
@@JustOneMoreWatch I figured as much at that price. AFAIK the only true GMT anywhere near that price is the Mido Ocean Star (which you reviewed as I recall). I actually bought one on sale but returned it. Didn’t expect to do that but it had some quality issues that didn’t sit well with me.
Does anyone know the video or watch brand that Jody did about a watch where it had a sapphire bezel and it was a new micro brand and their first attempt. Jody mentioned how handsome the guy was with his perfect hair and made a joke and when he did he placed a picture of the guy in the upper right hand corner of the screen. I want to look into buying one but can’t find the video or remember the watch brand…can anyone help?
Great review of a really nice watch. Of the 2 it would be the 42 for me. The black & white colorway is the best of the options. Have to agree on pricing as well as the bracelet. Were this to come down closer to the $1000 USD range it would be a no-brainer. At $1399 USD it is competing price-wise with some pretty stiff competition. And I agree that the bracelet ought to be a bit more sturdy for the mass of the case. I like this but I'll have to hold off for a used one due to the price.
I wanted to like the superman, but, the lugs just stick out and don't curve down enough so it wears really poorly (@6:35 you can see that!) I have pretty flat wrists and they still look awful. Also the date window - why can't it be black, not grey, or actually in this case, I thing it should have been white to balance the 9 o'clock index!
In my opinion, Yema makes very nice and nicely designed watches and although I respect their ambition, they should just drop their in-house movement. Not proven, not within specs, massive QC issues and especially for the asking price.
Thanks for the video. Nice watches but they seem a bit overpriced. Also, the word on the street (watch forums) is that their customer service is horrible.
I bought the Yema Navygraf some time ago & also the Superman Swiss quartz. Both terrific watches but I agree Jody. This is a little overpriced. P.s. I bought a vintage Yema a year ago & it’s a beauty! Like me it’s a bit quirky!🤪👍🏼
I like the look of quite a few yema watches. Unfortunately I haven’t come across any shop which sells them so can’t try one on. Would not spend this much money without having a look at one first.
Would be perfect for me if those lugs weren’t too long why can’t they shave a few millimetres off, and I would like it if you could remove the bezel lock, I would have no use for that if the bezel is firm in action.
They’re great looking watches but the movement shots showed not only scratches on the holder but you could see damage to some of the screw heads. For that sort of money I would expect better than that from an in house movement.
Yema struggle to get their LED quartz running under 10 seconds a day (I’m a Kickstarter supporter of the Kavinski model). So no surprise their auto isn’t doing much better.
I've got the Yema Meangraf a retro inspired racing themed watch and it's fantastic! It's so different to all the other rally-inspired watches that I've seen. Also these Superman watches are also great looking with some real history behind them. Regarding QC ive never had a problem and I think it's greatly over-exaggerated as you only hear the bad never the good.
First glance I thought it looked a lot like my Zelos Horizons GMT with a black dial. The more I look at it, the more I prefer the Zelos' more modern overall look (with a nod to the past) and I certainly prefer the date at 6, and of course.... the price! Sheesh that's an expensive watch for what you get.
24 clicks, I haven't seen that before I don't think. Very nice!
Great vid Jody! I'm just finishing my edit on my right now but procrastinating! But now that your vid is out first there is no reason to watch mine! 😘
Jody, is that an "office GMT" or a true GMT movement? I'm really digging this piece!!
Oh, yeah, it's a caller/office!
Swap the movements round before you sent the 41mm back did we Jody?😏
I have two of the cheaper Yema watches. While I like the look of them there's always something that just doesn't sit with me about them.
Bracelet reminds me of a Tissot PR50 bracelet.
Almost had me until I saw the price. Great video.
The finish issues make the price too high. I won’t pay $1,000 for a knife and it’s SUPPOSED to have sharp edges!
I hereby knight Jody as king of the GMT’s
I had to stop knighting folks, I always forgot to use the flat of the blade! 😳😳😳
Yep - too many dollhairs... but it's a fine looking watch all the same. I'm a sucker for that dial and bezel combo, I'll admit.
In my opinion, Yema makes very nice and nicely designed watches and although I respect their ambition, they should just drop their in-house movement. Not proven, not within specs, massive QC issues and especially for the asking price.
I would rather it was 12mm deep with a 200m WR rating. I own a Rallygraf and a Flygraf, and love them. I sold my Navygraf and regret it
Thanks for the video.
Does the 24 click bezel mean it can't do half hour time zones?
It's actually a 48 click bezel. He made a mistake.
I like a 39mm, but I'd have to go with the 42mm (I'm a big guy, tho). I think the New MN Navygraph is a better option, regardless.
Does anyone know where to find this Mandolorian shirt?? It’s awesome
Yes it didn’t look that nicely decorated either. More like the decoration you see on cheap Chinese movements.
I'd take the one for the small Superman too, the old one is paying taxes... 😂😂😂
Case shape kind off reminds me of a bezeled version of the seiko snkk87k1
Glad voice is getting better.
Marginally! Thanks though.
I bought a Yema Rallygraf and I really wasn't impressed and ended up flipping it. They don't feel that great quality and the crystal was not good.
Nice watch, but $1400 USD for me in Canada...er NO!, for that there are so many offerings to challenge this, oh well :)
They really disguise that thickness well. It doesn't look 14 mm thick at all.
The pressed bezel lock looks a bit cheap to me
With that crystal style it's begging to be oil filled I bet it would be magnificent...
That bezel lock is inconvenient. That crown will just wear out
Has an omega gmt vibe. Always worried about their customer service, have heard some horror stories.
Pretty cool watches.
Great video, nice watch and you still sound like Bonnie Tyler.
Is this an office GMT or a Traveler GMT?
Hello and looks good man. Sounds better already.
Thanks mate!
Are there genuine problems with the quality control, or are those just unfounded rumors?
Well, I can only judge based on what I have on the table. I had to adjust the Navygraf I got a few years ago as it was out of tolerances.
If the pro vs con is a 50/50 then it's a miss.....
