The lights only flash on the negative version of REN. It happens in popular media when a demon or evil spirit is around. As an edit, it is why the lights start flashing near the end because it is still there, it is just in the back of him waiting for a rebirth.

OK, biased Renegade - got your first spot! Almost everyone goes right to "serious" mental illness, then realize and relax as they see it's the angel and devil on our shoulders. :) Ren has a fairly big catalog for his time recording. I was a Beatles/Stones, then Prince fan (and everything in-between), and Ren is the first real ray of light in decades.
Same for me too. A young Bowie got me to subscribe for more Ren. ❤

I have an interesting story for you. My younger sister as a teenager, who helped run the Beatles fan club for the State of Delaware in the late 60's, left home unbeknownst to my parents a couple of months after turning 17, hopped on a plane and worked for Apple Records. She met all of the Beatles! but she and George were especially close. I have a photo of her with John Lennon's arm around her. I was SO stupid and thought I couldn't leave a guy I had just fallen for, to go to London and visit her. We DID see them in concert in 65 or 66 in Philly at JFK Stadium. I still remember all of their oldest songs. Baby Boomer Music was a Cultural Exposion of Experimental Genius!!!! Ren would have fit right in!! ☺🎼🎸🎙🎹🥁🎶🔊🤘

You might want to note that Ren loves his reactors, and will never give a copyright strike. (you can contact him on his channel if there is ever a problem). You are about 1400th reactor for this one so you now join the tribe that has helped him to get 30 million views on this video and a number one album as an independent artist. He can't preform live, so it's all been done on TH-cam! You will be another 20 songs into his catalogue before you have seen even a little of the range of his skills! There is one audio track here (with post production) and the video cut from four takes before their guerilla shoot was terminated by the landlord. It's actually a live, one take, using multiple cameras. It wasn't cut from 4 takes. They managed to do 4 takes and decided the 3rd take, this one, was the best one, even though Ren wasn't entirely happy with it.
@@Codex7777 That's not what Ren said in interview. The audio track of the music is from one (the third) take. The video is edited from two takes (watch how the Lav mike moves!). He also said in an interview that the spoken word on the end was from a third take. In his words 'It was a bit of a Frankenstein'! (If they hadn't been thrown out after four takes they might have gone on to make it in one take, but life intervened). I'm just being guided by Ren's own words, since I understand he was actually there ;-) !!

He is actual genius . Self taught world class multiple instrumentals piano drums base classic and electric guitar prodigy. Andrew Loyed Webber called him the Best story teller he's knows REN is that one Nobody's doing what he is doing Because they can't.

The Other Songs looks after Ren’s publishing interests and put on yearly galas with performances by songwriters they represent. Years ago, Alistair Webber was with Island Records and met Ren in 2011 - at about the same time that Ren had to leave his music career.

Chalk Outlines & How To Be Me are 2 of the greatest duets I’ve ever heard.
To get an idea of Ren's singing in one track, Ren's Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake is a great one. It's his composition over lyrics from 2 songs except the middle part that's all his own. Ren produces and mixes almost every track of his. His post production is great too. A good portion of his videos are one shots.

I found this song when I was in a great deal of personal pain and this broke me but in a good way. I wept cathartically as I watched and rewatched it for a few days, picking up on new nuances. It helped me move out of that particular depressive episode.
I’m so grateful to him and I know a lot of people felt similarly. Just keep in mind that for all the loving fans, you’re going to be dealing with a lot of the crazy renegades in your threads who aren’t the easiest to love.
You can't be a reactor of any person or band and not get the crazies. It's built in.

He speaks for those suffering from chronic illness, mental and physical. What a nice soothing and intelligent reactor. Love the knowledge you gave of this theater masterpiece. Ren is special, he has been a very sick boi since the age of 19. He is now 34 and starting to climb out of his nightmare. He just finished 18 months of medical treatment to help his stamina amongst many other issues he has. He is ready to jump back into music full-time without being so sick all the time. The fans over the last few years are patiently waiting for another new album to drop along with his collabs. Any day drop on the new collabs. Subbed, thank you.

I have watched this Masterpiece hundreds of times, literally. And at some points, I *still* get goosebumps, as if i was watching it through your eyes and ears as a first experience. The lights flicker when his disturbed persona is speaking.... The lights are stable when his... stable... persona is speaking. Same for the guitar playing.
My son is bi-polar and is a genius. A very high IQ, he is now 44 years old and a tutor, helping young students get through school and then on to college. He teaches, math - all forms - sciences etc. He was in gifted class by the 2nd grade. He is very hard to argue with at times. LOL I do think even without acknowledgement by Ren himself, he may also be extremely gifted in many ways. He has had lots of time when bed bound to do some study into many topics and subjects. His vocabulary is amazing

I really enjoyed your reaction. Seeing that you yourself are a artist/musician I'm sure you are very familiar with what this video showcases - the self doubt, self worth that we all struggle and fight within ourselves.
I hate the self doubt in the worth of your own creations because they rarely live up to the way we envision them in our heads. That being said, when those visions are met or exceeded in the final product, that makes it all worth it. Hopefully Ren has more of those cathartic moments than he does the not good enough ones.

I highly recommend you watch "Chalk Outlines live" with Chinchilla. It's probably the best example of his vocal range
Great reaction sir! New sub here. Just as a little side note, this was also shot as a one take. So it's actually a live performance. And also, when it comes to Ren's videos, he NEVER hits reactors with copyright issues. I would highly recommend watching some of his interviews, he really opens up alot about a lot of things.

Ren's been struggling with Lyme disease for almost 17 years with no luck. (He met a stamcell ANGEL in LA (doctor) with a generous glove (his newest song "TROUBLE" who saved his life.) Misdiagnosed, mistreated with a tonnes of wrong medicine witch caused damage to his brain 🧠 also. He's still in Canada Calgary for treatment. By the way, the flickering of the light is his dark side and wise versa. 👍

I agree. Sick boi is the natural next song. Some renegades really like people to hit a certain order because it drastically improves the persons digestion of him and his journey. So I would agree with sick Boi next. But you really cannot go wrong.

Being a big Ren fan (Renegade), I've seen many reactions to this and wasn't planning on watching another one tonight. Your thumbnail drew me in and I'm so happy that it did. All of that was very kind and I appreciate your sentiments. I have to really watch my humor though because it tends to be very sarcastic, politically incorrect, and dark at times. Doesn't always translate when written and some people don't realize I'm joking.

He's not schizpphrenic, nor does he suffer from bi-polar and he's never suffered from any split personality disorders. The song makes clear and Ren himself has said that it's about the human condition generally. Chronic illness and mental illness are referenced because he's telling it through the lens of his own experience and those things, along with music, have dominated his life but it's not specifically. It's about the human experience. It's also about how accepting that darkness is part of existence, part of life, part of us. It's not something that can be banished and it's a frustrating waste of time and effort trying to do so. Besides which, our encounters with the dark help to shape who we are, often for the better. Once this simple but unpalatable truth is understood, life becomes a little easier and the dark becomes a little easier to deal with and to mitigate, generally speaking.

Ren and his videographer Samuel Perry-Falvey have been friends since they were teens, though Ren is several years older. Money Game 1 is their first one shot video. It took 183 takes to get it right. Money Game 3, just done last year has won multiple awards.

If you dig deep through Ren’s catalogue you’ll realise just how diverse and unique a person Ren is; but most importantly how talented, genuinely caring, methodically creative and meticulously persistent in trying to seek perfection he is too.
Another fun fact, this is a one shot. He is live, you can see the mic on him and the guitar is live. They did it 4 times to get the take they wanted, but there is no editing, just a 3 camera setup and the video is a single take.
He is an impressive individual.
For comparison sake, I'd recommend "The Hunger" next, then "Chalk Outlines" with Chinchilla. Then just keep going down the rabbit hole.

Just know, as a musician myself, I've yet to come across an artist where I had no clue what the song or piece of art was going to sound like until I pressed play. I mean- maybe Queen, Prince or, you brought up another great one- David Bowie. He sings, raps, plays guitar, bass, piano, melodica (yeah- a melodica (check out his band The Big Push song Swan Song), does his own production and, ultimately, is unable to be put in a single genre.

Rock? Absolutely.
Soul/R&B? Not a problem
All of the above in a single jam session? You got it. (He did a medley "stream of consciousness" jam session on twitch, which may be on one of his channels where he does an original to Elvis to The Animals.)

This video popped up on my yt feed about a year ago and the thumbnail showed this man in a hospital gown in a wheelchair. Intrigued, I nonchalantly clicked play and for the next nine minutes my mind was blown! I’ve been obsessed with Rens music ever since. I’m not the only one this happened to (shout out fellow Renegades). Everything he’s produced has been exceptional and I’m sure you’ll agree as you continue down the Ren rabbit hole.
