Im in Oklahoma, USA. I raised rollers and homers when I was a teenager and now I am getting back in it. Im getting excited to have them again. Building a pigeon loft of love and then looking to getting a pure breed homers to start and then rollers. Thanks for the videos you keep me full till I get my birds.
A little bit of advice ,when you pare the pigeons make sure they have no other place to sit on .This will encourage them to take a box .On the other hand ,the pigeons without a box can be the best pigeons on the races ones they discover all the boxes are empty when they come home first and they will be super motivated .Good luck .
Best wishes on your hunt for a breeding hen. My friends foundation hen never did anything noteworthy herein racing but has produced countless winners at major competitions.
best thing for the drinkers are after u feed them let them drink and remove the water at night so it’s not going to freeze i use heated drinkers here in the usa in winter
The new boxes should be up higher the top part where they can stand will just encourage them to stand around. You could put another divider up that would perhaps work as 2 further nest boxes.
An old flyer from here used to say that at the end of the racing season you have lost your potential stock birds. You have to select and test your birds in the stock loft rather than racing them all. You should consider some natural pairing where the stock birds choose their own mates. Try a few pair that way. Ask yourself, do you know your pigeons better than your pigeons know each other?
Hi we all want producers but not many will sell them , be careful there's a lot of fanciers out there that sell so called producers my advice would be go to entire clearance sales of good fanciers and try to buy from them all the best buddy
Hi. Maybe you will find a good hen from Alwyn Hill they say that is one of the best long distance loft in the UK. The auction of his last part number 4 is on Saturday on Blackpool. Good luck!
Hi dan long time, well feels like a long time lol. Being realistic you wont find a hen for sale at Blackpool that is a proven producer of winners, UNLESS there is a clearance auction, and even at that if there that good will be big money, normally theres auctions on in hotels near by and you need to do youre homework between now and saturday and sunday. See who is selling what and where os the auction on also, will just be a quick taxi journey away. Failing that go around the stalls as you do, look at lads selling pigeons that are sons or daughters of winners and have produced winners also and there parents are winners and so on. And seems youre looking for middle to long distances then go look for and at them, then decide do you buy from the stalls or see do you have any joy at the auctions first, and if not you can fall back on the familys of pigeons you seen at diffrent stalls and then go choose what ones to buy, ohhhhhhhhhhh and birds that have beaten high numbers in there races and at the highest level you can find. Scottish pigeons that have flown from france. Or south of england pigeons that have flown from the islands above scotland. If you see young birds buy some if you have the money. PS enjoy blackpool wish i was going 2 be there but its her birthday so it's teneriefe for me😢😢 😂😂
Best tip i can give for pairing up, is to put your best performing Pigeons to each other and don't pay too much attention to pedigree or strain. As long as they are of a similar type, i.e. sprinters to sprinters, distance to distance. Don't forget, our offer to breed you some quality distance birds for this year, still stands. Seems ike you might already have your producer Hen, in that white bird 🤞 Good luck with the pairing up.
@@howtotrainyourpigeon I don't know what distance Lerwick is for you, but our family are based in Bricoux and Marley Westropes Krauth based family. Our pigeons are good from 220 out to 600+
@@desburke7786 yes lots of blacks and dark Chequers Des. They've done very well for us, blended in with Bricoux another very old strain but again very consistent for long distance. Our family also has Jan Arden in them too, our birds are bred from proven distance pigeons that have scored for us all the way to Pau and Barcelona. They are not sprinters but score from 220 miles all the way out. I'm hoping we can help Dan on his journey to establish a distance team.
I have just found your channel. I don’t have pigeons but find any animal breeding to a purpose. I had coonhounds and competed for years before health issues stopped me, I had eight state champions and a New England states champion in my time wishing you the best in your efforts. The one thing I found is that a good sire has an outstanding mother, wondering if it’s the same with pigeons?
Hi Dan enjoy your videos. Really helpful and contributed to inspiring me to start up in racing. I’m only doing OLR as I don’t have time for club racing. I’ve invested heavily in birds so if you want to try a few of mine let me know. I’d be interested to see how they perform in club racing. Let me know if interested. Cheers Ash
Lol. My yard looks the same. But it’s -27 here in Canada. Water only lasts about 30 minutes before it’s frozen. Need to water the breeders 4 times a day
Buy a hen or two as young of a top lofts best n keep them for breeders somthing with high wins n small birdage n just breed as many as ya can float eggs it works n you'll never look back
At the end of the Day with DNA test you could be sold anything thats Supposed to be from this or that winner or breeder. Waaay to much money been spend on birds that without a proper DNA tests you might have a loft full of birds from strays for all anyone knows ...you just dont know.
Don't waste money on stock birds U don't have the experience for stock birds believe me .eny top flyers will tell u 1st 3ur4 years get kits ov the best yb like the Belgium ones you have & every year with a bit ov look you will get priz wining birds put best 2 best & I guarantee u will get priz wining birds & thay are ye stock birds
Not necessarily... you can buy Breeders with history of breeding great flyers and breeders and take it from there onwards. However also you can fly the babies you got in keep the top 5 in your loft and start breeding best to best and hope for the best. There's no guarantee that you would breed best flyers from them but you would have canceled so e bad traits from starting this way. At the end only the basket will tell. Happy flying brother. Que from South Africa
Glad you’re back. Please keep the VLOGs going.
Working on it 😁

You don’t have to buy producers. You can buy their youngsters or for even cheaper their eggs.
Looking forward to seeing your inevitable progress through out the season
Progress? I hope so 😅
