There's a whole lot to like here for 108 bucks. It could be a blackened stainless steel with low carbon content in the steel. There are stainless steels available that are so low in carbon content that they barely show any attraction to a magnet.
I got this in last week. I love it but it is very stiff. I've been fighting the urge to stretch the spring out. Here's the composition of SLD-Magic, according to Hitachi, since no one seems to have any info on it: C 1%, Cr 8%, Mo 1%, Ni .4%, Mn .5%, Si .9-1%, Cu .4%, P .02%, S .01%, Al .25% - I have a Uranus coming soon! Thanks for the video!!
Hitachi, huh? I read a bunch of people recently say that Japan refuses to sell their steel to PRC and that the VG-10 on Chinese knives in not the real stuff but the Chinese analog, called 10Cr15CoMov. I know that MaxAxe uses the latter for the PEI version of Neptune and the new Uranus.
You won't find MaxAce autos on US shop sites because it's technically illegal to import auto knives from other counties. There is a "gray area" work around though. Many companies import Chinese autos disassembled, assemble them here, maybe adding a US part or two and then call them "Made in the USA". :) Companies like CobraTec specialize in this stuff. There's also a "US made" copy of MaxAce Medusa called No Limit Night Stalker. Edit: BTW, the Neptune is awesome in most ways but the pocket clip is just atrocious looking and feeling and ends up marring the aluminum underneath over time.. I finally got them removed off my Neptunes, ending up with way better feeling knives that can be just carried on the bottom of the pocket or a sheath. Seriously, it makes a huge difference and increases your enjoyment of this knife. Also, before they introduced this US tanto blade version, they had a Japanese tanto blade which looked way better, IMO.
@@OGBladeReviews What I find most interesting about this knife is that despite the ridiculously low price, it's an "upgrade" over most other DA OTF designs, including Microtechs, in a couple of ways. Firstly, it uses the higher grade, more expensive to machine aluminum for the handle - 7075, which is the mil spec standard for AR-15 receivers. Most other knives use the softer, easier to work with 6061. Secondly, it doubles the locking gates, significantly reinforcing the lockout strength. In addition, people who have taken their knives apart, were impressed with the internal build quality, including the milled, hardened steel "slider" assembly. Check out the torture test on MaxAce's TH-cam Channel. It's insane what this knife can apparently take. P.S.: That red CT Gen III is sexy AF!
Thanks Jon! I haven't yet created a patreon account for the channel, but if and when I do I will let my subscribers know. Thanks for your generosity and appreciation! 🙏🗡️👍

You keep referring to the Autocrat as a Microtech. Ooops
Just a hearing check for my viewers! 😅
Thanks for watching. 👍🗡️
For $108 I'll take back most of the bad shit I said about the clip.
But not all of it!

If you want to contribute $ to the channel how is it that you pay, what form, I'm not very techy 🥴
