  • How to fit and wire up a Crabtree single module AFDD with a Type A 30mA RCBO and a MCB Type B. After fitting the AFDD we show the process for carrying out the insulation resistance test and then power (energise) up the circuit (go live).
An arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) also known as an arc-fault detection device (AFDD)
Videos are training aids for City and Guilds (C and G) and EAL courses Level 1, 2 and 3.

I think you define the word "Teacher" Gary, very clear and easy to understand method of purposeful communication. The students you teach will be extremely proud of where they are, and the youtube videos are just as equally rewarding for the veiwers not on one of your courses. Thank you 👍

Lucky lads to have such great teaching. I love the fact that a Nick Bundy video was playing in the background. 😀👍

I like the way you throw the students questions like that wish they did that at my college 👍🏼

Another banger from GSH. Students seem knowledgeable and confident and good to know that GSH create a great working environment for their students to flourish. 🎓🎓🎓

Good to see some of your students Gaz. Now we just need the price of those things to drop to the same as an RCBO and people might actually start fitting them. I guess at this stage the manufacturers are just "dipping their toes in the water" hence the high price, R&D etc.

Still to dear at around £125 each... love to see a fault finding video with an afdd

Now might be a good time to get them into the habit of using Torque screwdrivers when tightening those RCBO’s

We use them all the time in the electrical workshop at Tresham College.

I'm probably wrong because I work in Ireland and the electrical regulations are quite different but I did work in London in the 1970's and 80's and I thought a radial circuit wired in 2.5 could only serve a area of 20 metres squared, if it was wired in 4 mm 50 metres squared on a 25 amp mcb is OK and of course 100 metres squared for a ring main.

Hi. Can we leave neutral wire AFDD or RCBO tied with cable tie or insulation tape?

Are hoodies a required part of the course or has the college not turned the heating on yet?

Nick Boggon getting learners to turn up is a task in its self... I don’t care what tops they have on as long as they want to learn 🦾

    So which is it...@ 2.5mm. radial..number of skts..area ..unlimited 50mt.sq. or 20 mt.sq.

Time for a star breaker with live and neutral bus bars.

Surprised to see an old style junction box. Is there not a MF product available yet? Not sure why WAGO don't make the familiar circular style enclosure for their 3/4 lever products instead of that chunky box they use. Not a criticism of the video or your training by the way, just wondering if there's such an alternative product by now?

Lee Greveson it’s an EAL assignment nothing I can do about it.
