Another good video. It's always good to have a good working relationship with people you do business with. Would have liked to see Rex work a little more. I'm just fascinated by how well they do their job.

I agree, I also loved seeing how they run their farm too. Rex was pretty awesome. He lives to work! Absolutely amazing tool and lovable too.

I use their stuff also. Always have probably always will. We use a fair amount of netting here on a twice a day move with a full time job. Thanks for the video

Thanks for all the great information ,I think you are the best 👌 on honest details, how come you don't feed minerals like Greg Judy.

Thank you, that means a lot to us. We do our best to be transparent and help others learn from any mistakes we make or things that simply work well for us. We feed minerals, our sheep have minerals available 24/7. They are loose minerals and this allows them to get the minerals their bodies desire. Every farm is different, climate, management, animals, etc so what one farm does may not work well for another for some reason or another. Does that answer your question or did I miss understand your question?

Thanks for your quick response, I love your ways best, I discovered your channel 1am this morning and I have been binge watching for 10 hours straight 😀. I am about to start my own livestock farm UPSTATE NY , thanks .

That's awesome, but don't forget to take a break. I assure you our videos and channel are not leaving anytime soon. That is the biggest reason we started our channel is to help others who wanted to start their own farm. There are a bunch of huge fifth and 6th and 7th generation farms on TH-cam but it doesn't show us how difficult it can be nor any useful information on starting a farm. So we realize this isn't on TH-cam and decided we would just document ours to help others.
Also remember our climates are not the same and so you may have to adjust some things to work well for your climate. We are in south central Missouri and don't get nearly as much snow or as cold as you do during the winter

Software from Ireland why do I think they're using TGM Software's Select Sheepware. Though I must admit it is a very handy program and worth the money.
If you do get a reader in the future the Agrident readers really are brilliant and easy to use we have an APR600 and it is hands down better than our old one that had issues from new hence why I believe they stopped making it

It may be the same one 🤷‍♂️
I know they seem to be working well for them. I am probably a decade away from using readers but I am fascinated by them!

@@FreedomFarmsMo My dad was always adamant about tagging the ewe lambs later but he could understand his colds and notes about family groups I on the other hand want to tag them this lambing at birth so I can link the lambs to the ewes using the reader so that then recording what ram they are from so in the future I can scan a ewes tag and see directly not only it's father but also see back several generations. It also comes in handy as we winter shear when they come inside we lose the raddle marks as well so we can see what cycle they were covered so we can group and adjust their feed accordingly as well as roughly know when to expect them

Our kids are involved with records for our farm, our daughter inputs it into the computer as we are working them and our son helps us work them. I would like to say they will understand my notes this way but time will tell.
Eventually we do intend to move to the RFID tags, it seems very convenient and time saving as well

What is she using for bedding in her barn?

    • @FreedomFarmsMo
      @FreedomFarmsMo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Recycled cardboard, seems to work very well for them

@@FreedomFarmsMo this is one of the best videos I've watched in a long time on TH-cam, thank you so very much.! I asked about the bedding before I got to the part where you talk about the bedding. I'm sorry. I was just very intrigued.

Glad you enjoyed it! We are happy to share our farm and those we visit to help others get ideas. No worries, you aren't the first to ask a question that is answered in the video and you won't be the last😁

I think I have changed my mind. I really really really hate sheep.
We have 2 lambs that have jumped out of every field of ours to get out into our neighbours that it got to the point I thought, blow it whether they grade or not they are going into the next market sale after barricading them in one of the sheds. I should have known it was going to be one of those days when one ran at and up the wall to clear the 6ft high hurdle then cleared the side panel and old dog kennel before I managed to catch it.
When I get into the market there is a Michelin starred chef/TV personality with two TV cameras they just as they are unloading theirs into the pens to be graded, sorted and weighed they jump straight out over the gates in front of theirs causing the auctioneer and myself after I got over the shock to scramble after them while he looked halfway between mortified and as though he wanted to burst out laughing. I just got back and I am really really hoping they didn't catch any of it on camera
