Animal Crossing has a Nostalgia that is hard to explain... EVERYONE was playing it and when the world was at a stand still everyone turned to this game. Even hearing the music at the 5am mark on the game brings back so many memories .... girl you need to play it .. its NEVER too late to play Animal crossing

I loved Echoes of Plum Grove and Wylde Flowers. I also have cozy regrets and have left games unfinished, Fae Farm is one of them. One thing I heard was that a big reason we have a hard time returning to a game is feeling a little lost on where we left off and the plans we had going forward in it. It was suggested we keep a simple gaming journal on what we've done in game that day and our thoughts of what we want to do. Being able to refer back to that helps in diving back in.

I bought Fae Farm, and my issue was the fast clock. Coming from ACNH, I couldn’t get used to trying to get through the day in 18 minutes, and I was really frustrated. I think I read that they introduced a slow mode, where the days are 36 minutes, so I may go back and try playing again.

I *highly* reccomend revisiting My Time At Sandrock and Wylde Flowers. MTAS has one of the most satisfying and incredible stories I have ever played through. It was so immersive and it has a great balance between the action packed stories vs slower parts where you get to really know the townsfolk. Wylde Flowers also has a really amazing story and the fact that you change the season yourself really allows you to go at your own pace. Its also a game I think you can pick back up easily and finish without putting too many hours into it.

I finished the first year (and so the major storyline) of WF, going a little bit more after that but can’t remember how much, and it’s amazing. Easy to understand and navigate, great gameplay and the story is really well made imo, the voice acting was a great choice cause it immerses you so much more into it. I’m thinking about picking it up again myself since I know there’s a new character and I loved talking to every character at the time, that’s a part I really enjoy in a cozy game especially if they’re fleshed out and you’re really able to know them.

I hear you. as I have a few games that I played up to a point but never completely finished. I will say that My Time at Sandrock is my absolute favorite game of this genre. It is highly addictive once you really get into it and has so much story, things to do, interesting mostly voiced characters that truly make the game so enjoyable. I love the building/decorating, character customization and, surprising to me, love the combat and dungeons. It has a ton of replay ability, which Wylde Flowers lack, which keeps me creating new saves every few months. I say, give it another try, you won't regret it!

It's definitely not too late to get back into ACNH - I started playing in Dec 2022, played hardcore until spring 2023, then didn't touch it for a year. I got back into it last spring, and I circle back to it in between all the other games I'm addicted to (PaliaPaliaPaliaPali--). And there seems to be a wave on content creators starting brand new islands right now, so it's a perfect time to (re)start! It's definitely making me want to finish my island so I can start fresh.
Wylde Flowers is at the top of my, "Why am I not playing this anymore?" list - I played it for 3 hours straight last year, loved it, fully intended to return to it... and then my life exploded and other games came out and I just... didn't go back. I still have it installed and everything - Tara stares at me from the desktop shortcut every day, judging me 😅

I have this problem too and I kinda made peace with it. I learned that in the concept of highly sensitive people there are two archetypes: divers and scanners. The divers feel really at home when they can deep dive into one topic and really live through it until they will move on after some time eventually. Scanners have multiple interest that they cycle through all the time. I definetly fall into the latter and in our time it can be difficult for us to navigate this tendency, because there is almost a shame around not finishing something in one sitting and not having one focus. Once I learned this concept I could start to embrace this facette of myself. Life is to short for shame, especially around your free time. Still, as fast paced as our society is, I think its important to have certain boundries to not get overwhelmed. For example how many games am I comfortable to cycle through at one time, being ok with prioritizing some games over others, really considering if a new game is worth buying for you rn and sometimes just being ok with letting games go completely if you sense its simply something you dont enjoy anymore. Maybe two years in the future you wake up and feel called to start a new save in this game? Who knows! And thats okay. Happened to me with AC two months ago. At the moment I enjoy to play ACNH, but I do have open saves in Wylde Flowers and Spirittea I will return to in the future. When I feel like I feel drawn to another game, I kinda make a mental checkpoint for me to make it easy to get back into the story.
TLDR! Still I hope this maybe helps someone else because it feels so freeing to just follow your own flow and intuition.❤

First let me say, I completely understand not finishing something you set out to do. I do the same thing with housework. It's never too late to play any of these games. Please don't feel bad about not finishing them. Like I said once before, I would love for you to revisit Wylde Flowers, but you are a gamer that must be on top of the latest games. it's hard to finish a game in its entirety. I do love that you have stuck with DDV despite the bugs.
I have a suggestion. Just like what you are doing by playing Coral Island for a month, what if you create an event like "Revisit Friday" or "Cozy Game Revisit" where you poll us on which cozy game to play again and you play that game on a certain day for a certain amount of time until the game is complete. Then we move onto the next. Regardless, we love your content no matter what you do finish or don't. Keep doing what you're doing.

Maybe start with one game that wouldn’t take to much longer to finish. That feeling of accomplishment will encourage you to finish the others. ACNH doesn’t necessarily have an ending, unless you consider getting your Island to 5 stars. Getting to 5 stars really isn’t that bad, and if you want there are so many of us that could help!

I bought My Time At Sandrock early upon its release but somehow I didn’t went far, and stopped it. But I decided to try a new save two month ago, and put my main focus on the story, and at some point, I just couldn’t stop playing. I will say it here but the story is really really good, and I can’t understand why I wasn’t into it before. So give it a new fresh start and enjoy the story, you can get easily bored while looking for ressources, so I would recommend to just look for what you need for quest

oh yeah. I have a bunch of games I started and am in the middle of that I put aside for one reason or another. I'm hesitant to even pull out Switch games here, but I think Astral Chain would count, and possibly Assassin's Creed Black Flag. Both aren't really cozy, but I actually remember what I was doing, kinda.
And then there's the Steam library, where there's games I played between 30 min and over 60 hours but didn't complete (looking at you Sun Haven and Moonstone Island). I also still need to play Wylde Flowers past the section that's in the demo... woops.

  • @TheDawnofVanlife

I think it is hard to go back. I feel like I have forgotten the mechanics so I always feel like going back after a long break I almost need to start over.
For example, I fully intend to return to cozy caravan, but I feel like I need such a refresher that contiuing feels intimidating. So I find myself not wanting to go back until I have time to start over and commit which turns into never playing it again after awhile. But I do have a list of games I am requiring myself to finish before I can buy any new ones. I recently invested in a legion go because there were so many cool computer games coming out that may or may not come to the switch. Which makes it easier to play in bed for a few hours every night. 😅

It's never too late to start Animal Crossing. There are so many people that still play. Most of the people that don't are because they have burnout. They've created so many islands they ran out of content. If you've never actually made an island you should be OK. I didn't even start playing ACNH until the 2.0 update came out, so I never knew what it was like to play when it first came out. It's the one game for me that I don't think I'll ever stop playing (until the next one comes out).

I really love Echoes of Plumb Groves! The drama that the game has got me at the edge of my seat. What I’m about to say just comes from what other content creators have gone through. I don’t know if you get burnt out with the games. Not because the games aren’t good but because you play them a lot as part of your TH-cam career. Rather than just to play. So the games probably don’t feel as a fun and personal experience like playing video games at home on a Friday night kinda vibe.
I say play games you wanna play old and new. We will support whatever games you play or don’t play.
I enjoy the content you make and I’ve been discovering games I didn’t know existed. I think us a community enjoy your energy and personality as a content creator. So don’t burn out for trying to keep up with the trends and just play all the games you enjoy.
I say this with much love and appreciation

I could probably count games I’ve completed on one hand, honestly. And none of the games on your list are ones I’ve completed. I tend to play sporadically- ignore everything including hunger cues for hours, then put it down and forget it exists.
Wylde flowers- I’m looking forward to the story but I just keep getting stuck on trying to 100% everything asap, which means I play a bit grindy, so I enjoy it less than I might.
Fae Farm- I put the game down (because life) at a point where I hadn’t decided what to focus on next, so indecision keeps me stuck.
ACNH- the pandemic didn’t really change much for me outside some extra stress- I’m not a social butterfly, and I didn’t lose my job or work from home- so despite curiosity it took me a while to get a switch and the game. I love the real time aspect of it, but it does mean with my sporadic play style that I miss out on things that I have to wait a whole year to try again for

I really like and enjoy ACNH. I'm currently on my 3rd island. Personally, I really like decorating type games, so it's probably why I like ACNH. I like trying to get my island the way I want it.
I did play Wilde Flowers for a good while, but stopped only because I couldn't seem to figure out what to do.
I have a few games that I got that I started to play, but just haven't gotten back to. The one game that I keep wanting to go back to is Hogwarts Legacy, but for some strange reason I just can't seem to get back into it. I really don't want to start all over again, but the might have to, considering the one time I did try to get back into I actually forgot what controls to press & stuff like that.

It's not just you. I have the same problem. I have ADHD. I have at least 3-4 different beloved titles I want to continue playing right now, and often suffer analysis paralysis. As well, and even moreso than these other reasons, I find it extremely difficult to get back into a game I made a lot of progress in but haven't touched in months or years. At the same time, my brain is unwilling to start fresh if it would mean extensively enduring repeated steps and story beats I've already seen. My Time At Sandrock is on my list of uncompleted, but I have 150+ hours in it, so restarting is out of the question. I have 30+ hours in Wylde Flowers but dropped that too. I have 40-50 hours in Coral Island and can't seem to get sucked back in now after I stopped playing to binge Palia (which I did complete what's available there, with over 300 hours of gameplay logged).
Of all you named, MTaS is by far the most rewarding, but also the most seriously demanding of your time. I think my save file is a little over half way done with the storyline quests, after taking my time and enjoying the game and using the slowest day speed available. Maybe second to ACNH only, in how much time you'll need to put in.

    • @LetzPlayK
      @LetzPlayK  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I suffer from analysis paralysis as well. I hate it so much. You at least have made good progress in most of the games you've played so that's a win!

      @Emugasm 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@LetzPlayK Thank you! Yes! I've at least gotten my money's worth out of them, even if I don't go back. But I fully intend to, because there's still so much left to see in all of them. One of my biggest obstacles right now is vision issues I need to get new glasses for, but could be looking at at least a month from now before getting those, since they take a week or two to arrive once ordered and I need to wait two weeks for next paycheck. That probably doesn't help my inability to get back into the games, when they cause eye strain or visual discomfort due to the issues. But yeah, analysis paralysis is very real. First world problem, though, of course, having so many awesome things to choose from that you just can't even begin to decide where to start. I spend more time looking at my Steam games list than playing anything!

I'm not sure I've ever "finished" any of the farming Sims I've ever played - dating back to Harvest Moon GBA days 😂 - despite playing some for hundreds of hours. For some I lose interest after getting married, but for most of the more recent games I either get obsessed with a new game or it's an EA game that I had finished all available content and then had a hard time getting back into it when new content comes out after a long time away. My Time with Sandrock is one of those I had stopped playing while waiting for the final content patch and have just not gotten back to it despite loving the game (have 185 hours in it). I do plan on going back eventually though as I do want to finish it. Similar issue with Coral Island (that one I have even more hours in lol). So I can totally relate 🙂

Random question, but can you “complete” animal crossing new horizons? As in get to the end credits? Like is that a thing? Is completing it just paying off your debt? I’m curious as there is no story in the game 😅, it’s just winging it on an island 😄. Anywhoo, I would say give my time at sand rock another shot, it’s such a good game both visually and mechanically (is that the right word? lol) as it plays very well.

No realllyyy. I mean I guess you could have a fully decorated island but I don't think there's like an end? 👀 But also idk because of obvious reasons LOL! I think I could set goals for myself to "finish"?

lol Not alone at all. I bought Animal Crossing and didn’t continue it after a month maybe. I bought Disney DreamLight and stopped when my characters hit level 5 on friendship. I finally picked it back up. 😢😂

I have games I started and never finished (or didn’t even get very far), namely Stardew Valley (1.6 on Switch when 😭), and lots of the older Story of Seasons-type games that I wanted to love but just couldn’t get into. I also bought Wylde Flowers and Fae Farm and… haven’t played either yet. 🫣 If you return to one, I think it should be Wylde Flowers! It has great mechanics and a lovely engaging story, and you seemed really delighted by it. Plus, it’s the perfect cozy fall game. 🍁

paleo pines and my time at sandrock are definitely my top two from the games in the video, i loved watching you playing those games and i was instantly intrigued 🫶🏼 but personally i only play the sims 4.. there are so many games that i love watching other people play but i‘m just not a gamer and can‘t get into any other game but sims, which i‘m very disappointed in..
