KC is correct, same thing happened in African countries. Christianity came in, with colonization, and disconnected people from cultural roots and ideas, some of which were more open and less misogynistic e.g. saw women as equals. Many cultures in Africa were/are still matriarchal.
I can't believe I just watched someone give someone else nicotine for the first time. Imagine if people just filmed themselves trying cocaine for the first time.
yes when you google Gianmarco it says he is the only child of divorce in the world. It is like Children of men and he is the youngest Alpha. Honestly it is deeply funny, anyone who follows you knows your relationship with your mom is far from loveless, she's your hero.
Nicotine in any form is addictive, and it causes high blood pressure and hardening of your arteries. I used to work at a wound clinic. I saw a lot of nicotine users that had nicked their shin on a table or some other minor thing like that, and 6 months later, the wound still hasn’t healed because the blood flow to their skin is so poor on their extremities. Also, makes it much more difficult to recover from any kind of surgery. Lots of surgical wound healing complications that drag out for months and months (sometimes years).
Excellent show as always! Just re the nicotine bags: I started using them at work (very anti-smoking place, sadly) and then to quit cigarettes completely for 7 months & now I'm using them to quit cigs again, great stuff. BUT they contain nicotine :) And your body doesn't care what delivery method is used, it just sees something to get addicted to. Also, a cig contains about 2mg nicotine, which is the lowest level you can from one bag! A lot of the young'uns at work routinely use 16-24mg bags, so around 8-12 cigarettes in one go. I was not aware of this when I was using the bags to stop smoking, so when I relapsed & started smoking agan, my body suddenly needed a lot more nicotine... which is why I have to quit cigs again :D
42:55 Oh my gosh! Gianmarco, this is so silly! Thank you for these podcasts! They are saving me lately. I think you should do an emergency release of the one you filmed this week (I assume yesterday) because after this past weekend, I need to hear your thoughts. {Don’t worry - not expecting anything uplifting… this is the Downside after all 🤣… but I need someone to wallow in misery with me!}
This podcast episode gives me deja vu of watching all my highschool classmates get addicted to nicotine "it's citrus flavored ☺️" and "they have blue raspberry juls!" but both have higher concentrations of nicotine💀
I was at the Portland show when the power went out. (It was my birthday.) I was hoping there would be a clip from it. It was a perfect moment. You were talking about the end of Men In Black and the universe being a marble an alien was playing with right when it happened.
Please talk more about the crunchy granola city vibe and how the way people say it is kinda predictive for if you and them vibe. Just watched a Contrapoints video on 'Granola Fascism' and the whole convo and concept's fascinating
Mitch bombed at his special, they added the laughs in post, that's why he's sitting down, looking defeated by the end, but I've always loved his stuff n his Strategic Grill Locations was one of the last CDs I bought before best buy got rid of CDs n DVDs
1:15:20 i would like u to know that so called Hinduism which is whitewashed version of brhaminism(bhramins that r priests, self claimed higher caste who tried to control the subcontinent population, still trying to, despite being the minority) is hijacked from bodh dharam (initial stages of non idolized version of buddhism),other tribal religions that were present in the huge subcontinent. lots of buddha's statues in the south Asia were demolished and uprooted or modified to current day god, goddesses of "hinduism" this were done by the bhramins, even universities run by the disciples of buddha were demolished, taking everything out of the universities and even the teachers ,so that there couldn't be any non idiolized version of education,so lot of disciples moved to central, east ,southeast asia for their safety, then it became idolized version which is now what we know as buddism, also the bhramins did change/bury a lot of ancient texts, historical texts that would make them look bad, part of history from the subcontinent is missing, and the priest class were successful to spread the narrative that hinduism is an ancient religion but its not,the first mention of vedas was in 11th century and the language that were written were the language not older than 10 or 8 th century ,so not from 3000-5000 bc as the bhramins tried to claim and by the texts they wrote for hindu texts, they were successful up until now as new archaeological findings r coming up regularly that defies what they tried to claim
Dude there were so many times in this episode where the conversation skirted a truly deep topic that requires scholarship to understand, this was just one of them and I'm glad you took the time to expand on it. awesome episode
UGH GIANMARCO your girlfriend lived in New Orleans?!? It makes no sense you never come through here on tour then...Come do a show here and let her show you all the cool stuff!

if you're having guests KC should totally be a guest on your Downside tour. You have such a great chemistry you three.
My favorite bit on the pod: seeing Gianmarco's producers scramble to time the intro with absolutely no warning

KC is always a great guest on podcasts - the languages she speaks, the jobs she's had and the countries she's lived in. It always stays interesting.
42:36 received the package and 1:02:50 eyes start rolling and getting ready to pass-out / vomit. 😂😂😂 that's the dedication for podcasting.
Russell being obsessed with primates is the kind of revelation I like
I can't believe I just watched someone give someone else nicotine for the first time. Imagine if people just filmed themselves trying cocaine for the first time.
I see no problems with this comparison
I really enjoyed the preview of Gianmarco turning yellow that was on tiktok. Got me excited for the new episode.

Alcohol is more dangerous than nicotine.

oh wow i had no idea they could be that strong, this is why people should avoid vaping as well i found that harder to quit than cigarettes
