Have you ever wondered what the killer does when they aren't actively killing the main characters? They...walk around menacingly. Yep, that's it. That's the awnser. I'm glad that mystery has been put to rest.

@@Louzahsol - Well, maybe if you posted a few of the "After Johnny" crime-scene photos right there next to the station, folks might just...'reconsider' grabbing that locket. 🤔
IKR! We're living in a post-Johnny world now. He should have taken that into account!
So you mean he should be at a gas station telling teens “don’t go into those woods, it’s death that waits for you” ? That character trope has never ever once in the history of horror cinema been listened to.
Imagine picking up shocked person in the middle of nowhere and your idea of comforting them is to tell them a story about vicious murderous bear attack. What!?
Did you get that it 'probably wasn't a bear' in her story and she was saying she knew *exactly* what had happened to the kid and was saying it without saying it to provide empathy and comfort?
I refer to this as 'Voldermorting' where the actual root cause can't be named due to triggering factors so a lot of cryptic references are made pointing to the source without naming it directly.

I mean if you think about these types of killers. Thats what they do, walk A LOT and stand until they kill. Imagine following Michael Myers around. Standing in between bed sheets hanging outside for hours until someone looks out the window.
😂😂😂
i mean, yeah. But this is supposed to be entertaining. Movies tend to focus on interesting shit.
Imagine a 6 hour porno that's 5 hours and 58 minutes of chores, work, family bullshit, etc, and 2 minutes of tits. Kinda missing the point.
Jason just doing his mom’s chores around the Camp to ensure it’s nice and clean, breathing heavily as he makes the beds and sweep the floors
And then nobody look out the window so Mike pouts & walks away, kicking up dirt with his foot tip like a little boy 😂 “aw man” in the tune of Swiper the Fox lmao
@@Flamingo48923 LOL.
I'd kinda like it if, after he got back the locket and having "Punished" everyone he just went back to dormancy. Like, he's "Beatable" by not just burying him or whatever, but just by tossing the Locket and escaping.
Adds an nice twist to the Supernatural serial killer that matches with one of those old undead myths, the one that only animates when its "treasures" have been disturbed. Like a Mummy, but not quite.
The issue there is whether he FINDS the locket - if he sees you throw it, maybe, but if he doesn't, he'll still assume you have it.
I think it’s pretty clear the old lady at the end saying sometimes animals just kill for no reason is disproved by the serial killer no longer hunting after finally getting their necklace back. That everything has a reason they do what they do.
Worst ending in cinema history
Wow. You need to see more movies. I get not liking it, but…

Also, the ranger has to be the dumbest person in horror movie history. You know you're up against an undying killing machine. Yet you creep closer and closer to the killer who's laying there playing possum with a long-range weapon so you can get close enough for him to grab it and break your back. Like I understand they had to figure out a way to kill the ranger but that was so pathetic. Very poor writing.
And the story about the bear was basically an allegory for Johnny. Yes it was actually Johnny who attacked the guy in the story and not a bear. Because who would believe an unkillable guy is lurking around in those woods the easy explanation like they do in every horror movie.... It was a bear.
I didn’t find the scenes in between the kills boring at all. There was something really mesmerizing about watching this killing machine walk through such beautiful scenery so peacefully. I don’t know why.
the walking scenes made the movie very unique tbh. loved it
What gets me is people will go on and on about how great Skinamarink is but trash this. I am not a fan of Skinamarink but liked this movie a good bit.
Fully agree - the use of *only* diagetic sound actually did a lot for me with this one!
Agreed, and it almost feels like a meditation. If you have ever spent time hiking in the woods with no smartphone reception or music then you'll probably relate to that.

I just a deconstruction of a slasher film. The movie knows that slashers are boring and this is their way of giving us a wink and a nudge. It’s smart and intentional what they made, but it’s certainly not for everyone
@bigdadybojangls9219 slashers arent boring. Theyre still fun but some suck and are overdone like evrry blumhouse one except happy death day. Gore for the sake of gore is just so overdone. Atleast Saw X had a great storyline and characters lol

True. Even ONE winged hussar wouldve made this movie way better
I interpreted the final monologue as that massacre was done by Johnny but covered up as just a bear attack, the massacre from 10 years ago was also covered up

I watched this last night and the amount of scenes that were just Johnny walking through the woods started to really get on my nerves. You're right, hit is a 30 minute movie if you cut out the walking and nothing happening scenes.
0:40 "Just a dude walking through the woods with nothing really hapening" Lol, you were praising Skinamarink for it's bold choice of how it was made but that's literally a movie were nothing happens, and now that you have a movie where things really happen but are parts that are slow you find that tedious? XD
Wrong
As much as the walking scenes did drag on, I loved the first one near the house where it jump cuts forward a few times as Jonny walks while the conversation between the two guys still play in real-time.
A pretty interesting idea to show how slasher killers sometimes feel like they teleport, it also reminds me of the Friday the 13th gameplay mechanic.
Just my opinion
Based on directors notes
Jhonney is a bear
The nature in the movie is the main character
Not the ppl
Jhonney represents nature coming back to take what's his
Its an homage to old slasher classics but a philosophical movie about nature being done with humans and taking matters into its own hands

@TheSCPStudio It's more reasonable if it's a bad horror movie that has no way to absorb you, or has moments of bad pacing, or gets ridiculous when it wants to be serious. Someone laughing at this makes sense.
I remember watching 30 Days of Night, and almost the entire movie had me gripped tight - until the hatchet decapitation. I was in tears from the conversation before it and suddenly rolled over howling with laughter, because the effects absolutely *tanked* while zoomed in on the guy's face. It looked like someone just selected the head in photoshop and rotated it 30 degrees with the first impact. The movie sold a lot of moments that could have been too cheesy to work, but that one broke all tension. It's all about delivery.
Some of these are ripped straight from Mortal Kombat😭😭😭😭😭 i love it

@@marcusthomas6749 fr😭😭🤣
I absolutely loved this movie, and the ending was so terrifying. It was jarring being with the killer the entire movie, and then suddenly not knowing where he was.
Finally i found someone who gets the point of the ending.
I was at an advanced screening of this in Scotland - many of the audience walked out, generally a few new people every new walking scene. It was like a festival screening of The Room in the end, everyone was openly laughing, occasionally someone would make an out-loud joke ^^’ possibly the best comedy film of 2024 so far
When Johnnie walks around the house if you look in the windows you can see Evan see him through the window. That’s why Evan appears with the gun 11:25
The ending to me means more than just subverting expectations. It’s showing the trauma and paranoia that accompanies surviving something like that. In a lot of slashers somehow that killer would have showed up for a thrilling kill even though it would make no physics sense, that is the subversion. What this ending does though is it is showing you not only the audience’s expectations, but also the character’s. Even though it would make no sense for him to show up there, she still can’t shake that feeling. This poor girl is going to be looking over her shoulder in some way the rest of her life.

As opposed to people just looking around. At least Johnny gets somewhere new.
Getting them steps in
@@EvilDead24 what does LOTR has to do with this? atleast LOTR is amazing compared too this garbage.
Colt trying to distract the killer while being within arms reach, was a compete facepalm moment. Surprisingly more facepalm than yoga girl standing still, allowing Johnny to turn her into a pretzel body horror.
I do admit the deadpan moment, when Colt was getting savagely murdered as Kris watches, where Kris then slowly and carefully places all the stuff she was carrying on the ground, before slowly walking off, was fucking hilarious.
As I was watching this and began to realize what it was, I empathize with your disappointment in the film. By the time it was over I couldn't quite decide how I felt about it. The pacing was bonkers -- so, painfully slow for stretches at a time, peppered with some insane practical gore that has you perk up before slumping back down for another 20-30 minutes of trudging around the forest. On the other hand, I almost found a dark sense of humour in what the filmmakers were knowingly putting the audience through, forcing us into the POV of a Jason-esque slasher whose life really would be walking a kilometre back the way he came to retrieve one axe. And it was interesting to see the same story beats play out (the teens realizing they're in danger, the exposition dump) from a distance, only getting hints of the dialogue as Jonny approaches in ear shot.
But, yea, I don't blame those going in expecting a crazy slasher for being disappointed by this slowwww as all hell film.
This movie would be popular in Australia since they really like to walk about…

The only thing that this movie had manage to interest me, it's because the movie had a nice establishing shot. The natural frisky setting, the calm tone, it's just the most nice experience I had on a quiet day, and looking at it that way . . . The movie wasn't necessarily a boring experience for me. I think the funniest part for me was when I was questioning things like...how did he just dive beneath the little lake/pond and didn't resurface? Or when he took his mask off and his eyes are obviously just white...how does he see?
Well thankfully we find out later on that he's just a dead dude brought back to life!
My favorite thing though was just hearing random bits from the people he kills. It's a funny side to the killer who isn't always there. Shows up, hears a couple arguing. Next time he shows up, they're bitching about other things completely unrelated. Or even better, "where'd you get that necklace?!". So random yet once you find out why, it's just so damn funny.
What did feel off was being able to hear the conversations so clearly like they were right next to the killer. That felt very off.
Not really. When you think about it, it just explains the supernatural powers that alot of these killers seem to have. For instance, Johnny could see them in little to no light, whereas they are Damm near blind in the night time. He can also hear them from far away, like the scene when they were by the lake, or when they were making plans to lure him back to the fire tower, which is why he knew the guy would come up behind him and try to distract him.
@@KoldBreeze He’s just listening to every little plan, making mental notes of the plan his victims think of

The walking scenes are the whole point of the movie, realistically speaking if we were to watch scenes that included Jason or Michael Myers moving around chasing their victims, what do you think we would see? The fuck? The ending also depicts how if someone was subjected to the same things the last girl saw she would be fucked up mentally for life, how do you cope when seeing your friend being murdered in such savage manner? Sure, it isn't a movie for everyone, but it is very clever in its execution if you ask me.
Yea this dude's review is some horeshit
0:42 totally valid if this isn’t your thing. But that is the whole point of the movie. The thesis of the film is “what does Jason do while the main characters are running around being idiots?” The answer: slowly walking around the woods.
You expect that bollock to understand that simple concept? 😂😂

I feel like something like the Scream franchise would be an interesting setting to have a movie follow the killer/s and focus on them rather than the protagonist.
Like a cut of scream from Billy and stu's perspective would be AMAZING.
At the 6:55 mark. Jason never died as a child, he survived the lake and grew into adulthood. Then he was killed around the 3rd or 4th movie and became undead.

The only people that go pissed by this movie is either have short attention span or single digit IQ. Probably both
I don’t know why people are saying that the pacing was slow, I came fully expecting this to have Tarkovsky’s Stalker type of pacing and thought it was really well paced.
Your fist mistake is you assuming people know Tarkovsky. They rather watch this video instead watching the movie and see how beautiful it is, because they have a short attention span problem

I think we’ve reached a good balance between creative, well paced horror, and movies like this😂,so I’m glad you review them all.
I assumed Johnny was the bear in the bear story, as it would make sense that no one would believe a story about a zombie killer coming after people in the woods. Therefore, everyone just believes that it was really a bear that attacked.

It actually doesn’t take much force to get a branch stuck threw you. My brother and I were playing when we were little kids I was 5 he was 8. I climbed over a big old downed tree (we lived in the country so there was a lot of forests around.) well I turned around when I heard a gasp. I saw my brother with a 3 inch wide almost 2 foot long stick/branch sticking out of his arm. He had had a stroke as a baby so his pain sensors didn’t work right so he didn’t feel it go straight threw his arm. I ran to my mom she yelled and blamed me smacked me around a bit then went to help my brother. She had to saw the branch off and drive him to the hospital. I was literally 5 and she left me alone sitting outside for so long it was dark night when she got back. I found out later she knew there were bear literally all over the place hanging out in the roads and rattlesnakes and she would literally send me out alone (she would always keep my brother inside) to play near power lines and bear and snakes. I honestly think she was trying to kill me. I believe this because she once when I was 11 fell into a river and got sucked under a log by the current and couldn’t get up or get out from under the water she was standing there just watching me drowning. I saw her she saw me and she just looked in my eyes and watched. I came too on the side of the river my stepdad had come around the corner saw me drowning and he jumped in and pulled me out. When I started panicking and crying she told me to get over it I was never in danger I was playing that I was drowning and shame on me for making my step dad get soaked dragging me out from under a literal log that I was pinned under from the shoulders down. My head was on one side the rest of me was on the other the current had me sucked in to a place I was trapped. She also found out I was allergic to certain things and would mix them into my food then tell everyone I was a hypochondriac when I was saying I was sick and I felt like I was dying. It’s sad because I always loved her but she always blamed my adoption as why my dad became a cheater so at 9 months old she started hating me. I just wanted her to live me. She did love my brother who is literally the best person I know. I wish I got to see him more. He still has that huge scar on his arm from the tree stump and I still to this day feel guilty for playing near that tree. He never blamed me and actually he would stop my mom from kicking my azz when he was home and saw it. He is the best and only good thing to come from my life as well as my stepdad who I consider my father. Everyone else can go pound sand.

I loved it. Took a simple slasher movie concept and turned it into a meditative ambient like album.
If you watch it with lights out, volume up and just roll with it, you’ll get into the rhythm of the “slow pacing”.
Much like some of the great ambient albums, you just have to let it happen to it, click with the vibe.
Dare I say, Pacing is on the spectrum of Kubrick.
I will forever defend this movie as a masterpiece. I know it’s slow, and I know nothing happens in particular for large portions of the runtime, but it is gorgeous and actually hilarious once you adapt to how it’s being shown to you.
It asks the viewer to actually take a walk with Johnny, to show us what a Jason-esque undead slasher villain does behind the scenes. The funniest part of this movie is the very fact that it is a contemplative and ambient horror set in the backdrop of a cheesy horror slasher, and in my estimate a sequel at that because it’s not Johnny’s first rodeo.
I know I’m in the minority but I do think this movie is great, it just kind of asks you to get into a particular headspace while you watch it, like going on a hike in nature.
This makes the kill sequences all the more shocking, especially with tremendous practical effects they used.
I saw this in theatres and it was a strange experience, but after watching it again alone I was completely sold on it, I urge anyone to do the same.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, I just don't find this interesting at all. This sort of storytelling is best left for different medias (mostly video games) where there's more active participation, than passive.

@@fangwhiteclaw7089 really glad you enjoyed it I was starting to think something was wrong with me for loving this movie as much as I did lol. I think that is what forces you into the correct headspace to enjoy this movie
I think Johnny kept bashing Colt because Colt hurt his feelings by calling him ugly.
I liked this movie, I think Jason does just walk around, it’s not the best but I enjoyed it, an amazing slasher that deconstructs the killer is behind the mask: rise of Leslie Vernon, that also follows a slasher killer, but I think it does a better job at the deconstructing aspect
The walking in the woods of the killer builds the deaths.
Love this man , can you review maxxxine or longlegs nexttttt ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Friday the 13th fans will love this movie. The kills are awesome. As a viewer, you feel like you're watching a video game when the killer is walking through the woods looking for his next victim. People expecting an MCU action movie will be disappointed. "In a Violent Nature" is my second favorite horror movie of 2024. "Longlegs" is my favorite.
So the point of the final stretch is showing an often overlooked aspects of the Final Girl trope: the paranoia. Intellectually, we know they’re safe. They’ve been driving for like ten minutes and Johnny is very, very slow.
But you still have that tension of expecting him to pop out and kill her. And that tension is something she’ll have to live with for years, maybe forever.
or just, they weren't done beating this dead horse. Most movies? Sure. Not this one, that seems to try to take family guy's 'we'll force the joke 250% longer than it should be', to the point they even joke about it, and went 'that. Just that. That will be my movie'.
@@KeithElliott-zd8cx yeah but that’s taking movies on a very surface level; the film is clearly trying to say something about the nature of violence
@@harmonlanager2670 is it? is it REALLY.
cause even foundflix dude mentioned people would overexamine this and claim it's 'artistic' when it was probably just a shitty design choice that's 'unique' but boring.
I loved the perspective and approach. It would be cool for them to do another movie from the victims perspective. Cool axx movie to me. I've always wondered what the killer is doing on his way to each of the kills
We want long legs and the watchers next😂 please and thank you. Love your channel
This movie could’ve benefited from some past and future flashback scenes like in The Godfather Part 2.
It cues us into what Johnny’s deal is, and would break up the monotony of the stalking shots.
Love this channel, such an OG on TH-cam, ready to enjoy another great explanation
This movie is basically Friday the 13th if Jason spent the whole movie hiking through the woods slowly
I'm so glad he's honest about it everyone else is raving about this movie and it is really boring...
I actually really enjoyed this movie. I loved the setting, the atmosphere, the cinematography, unironically the characters (mostly the acting), and the kills!!! The pacing really isn’t an issue to me I was interested in seeing where it went next plus I was watching it with some friends so that always makes it more enjoyable. The ending leaves much much to be desired and honestly I didn’t catch the long monologue about Bobby but overall it was an enjoyable film.
ive never heard someone nitpick how people talk in movies more than him like honestly
didnt ask!
Im not an easy to please movie watcher. But I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I get how its pacing and lack of a traditional sound track wont work for everyone. But I found it to be a well made breath of fresh air to a largely played out genre. I know Im going to loose folks with this statement. But I liked this more than Late Night with the Devil. I was so pumped for that movie and after watching it was really let down. To each their own.
18:46 the ending, to me, was more about what happens to the final girl after getting out. She messed up. She will forever look Jonny and probably won’t go into any woods.
