    "It's pretty predictable who's gonna be the villain in this!"
    "Is this THE moustache?"
    The moustache is the villain? It all make sense now!

      since the moustache fucked justice league over pretty hard (about 50 million dollars hard) the moustache is a hero

      Murcia doxial Well, I dunno. If we wanted Justice League to be good, I think it’s still the villain.

    I can sympathize with Sarah with always having to watch my favorite character die. Benji is my favorite too. Lol, half the girls in my theater where yelling at the screen during any scene where Benji was in danger. Fantastic movie! Probably one of the best I've seen this year and definitely my favorite movie of the year. Go see it!

    Best bit of the film: Benji finally got to actually wear a mask!
    I felt so happy for him. :D

      All joking aside, Tom Cruise looks like he’s aged barely a goddamn _day_ since the 90s, so maybe he really *isn’t* changing.

    That scene where Benji goes into the cabin and Ilsa is trying her hardest to warn him with a gag in her mouth actually made whisper to myself, "Oh no, not Benji." I was legitimately scared he wasn't gonna make it out of that one.

      And they're probably right.

    After watching Rebecca Ferguson, Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill and Mr Cavill's Mustache (YES I believe the mustache was worth all that DC angst), it appears that there is whole separate group of supers not affected by any otherworldly villains.

    34:26 The upper portion of the landing module had its own rocket and launched from the moon's surface. It met with the command module still in orbit, and that brought them back to Earth.

    • @sarahg8936

      Archeopteryxman421 yeah but HOW

    • @Archeopteryxman421
      @Archeopteryxman421 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The command module was also a rocket, which propelled it back to earth.

    • @sarahg8936
      @sarahg8936 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Archeopteryxman421 I'm more stuck on how it met with the command module, but this is all googlable- my mind just reels at all the moving parts that must have been involved.

    • @Archeopteryxman421
      @Archeopteryxman421 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The command module had a latching mechanism that had the landing module attached. It released the landing module when they got to the moon, Michael Collins stayed behind on it to orbit the moon for the duration of the mission, and latched the module back, when they were prepared to go home.

    • @sarahg8936
      @sarahg8936 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Archeopteryxman421 thanks for the explanation! I didn't realize they left a guy behind to steer, that makes way more sense then what i was picturing. Poor Michael Collins though, drove all the way to the moon and didn't get to walk on it - he better at least be in the movie!

    The Alita eyes did really seem really toned down. But yeah, they're definitely going for an anime-girl look, since it is based on a classic manga from 1990-1995.

    IIRC, Overlord is the film that was rumored to be Cloverfield 4 a few months back. I can't help but wonder if some hasty reverse edits were made after Cloverfield Paradox turned out so well...

    Towards the end, when they're fighting on the mountain and the detonator is teetering there the movie had me hooked and I thought for a minute he was going to have to get that and diffuse it while falling to his death or something.
    It's also weird seeing Renner completely missing in action from both this and Avengers. I kinda figured Cavill wasn't going to be sticking around but after that fight scene in the bathroom I was really hoping he'd stick around because I loved his style compared to Hunt.

    Regarding the eyes in Battle Angel Alita: Yes, they are both that large to represent an Anime design AND to be kind of freaky. It's supposed to be a thing about her not being human in a world of humans.

    The stunt work was excellent. Other than that I didn't think too much of this movie. I think it would have been better if every scenario didn't end on him surviving by pure luck. Like he drives through Paris on his motorcycle without issue and then he gets into accident at his extraction point, or his helicopter's engine has been hit but doesn't explode until after he takes down the other one, the wrecked helicopter with the detonator in it doesn't go off the cliff because it's wench hook gets caught on a rock, or his parachute gets caught up otherwise he would have crashed through a roof. Take a couple of those out because it stops being 'oh my god they made it out of that' suspense to 'oh my god come on' annoyed.

    The Overlord trailer looked eerily similar to the opening of Wolfenstein: the New Order. Still can't believe it's not a Wolfenstein movie, it can't just be a koinkidonk.
    Two possible explanations:
    1. The game is narrative-focused. Bethesda saw the script for Overlord and decided they don't want to mess up the reputation of their well-written narrative-heavy franchise.
    2. Abrams' people didn't want to spend the money on acquiring the license for one of the least recognizable big franchises in gaming.
    Conclusion either way: It's gonna be a trainwreck :P

    • @johnpotts8308
      @johnpotts8308 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing Overlord is so called because it was the name for the Allied invasion of Normandy (though the Allies really failed to take account of all the undead fighting for the Nazis IRL).

    • @frorencenightingale1217
      @frorencenightingale1217 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right , I forgot that. Still, that's a horrible title for a Sci-fi, alt history take on the war. Call me crazy but it would make sense that the Wolfie ddeal fell through very late and they had to find a new title quickly :)

    Mission Impossible 2 is just, a train wreck. I fun train wreck, but a train wreck. I think it shows that John Woo was way more style over substance, coherence and logic.

    • @chrisossu2070
      @chrisossu2070 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There's a certain flourish to the way his characters tend to act that feels more appropriate for Hong Kong movies than Western ones. It's hard to explain, but it's like the expectations for how actors should portray their characters is different depending on country. Over-the-top acting seems to be a lot more common in Asian cinema compared to America, which seems to prefer more low-key, realistic portrayals.

      People in general don't expect substance, coherence, or logic w/ John Woo films in the first place. He's always been renowned for his style. The real problem w/ MI2 is that the script is written to be slow. If it was more fast-paced like Face/Off, it would've gotten great reviews.
