1. Nice Lolbit profile picture! And 2. I was thinking about 1 of my fursona's abilities, and water isn't the only thing that can be summoned for protection and combat
Fun fact: In Antarctica there is a glacier called the Taylor glacier that has a river of ice and brine water tinted in a deep red colour. Scientist therefore named it the "Blood falls".
I love that this means that the SCP Foundation was like "Hey you know what would be really cool? If the next time that teleporting dude teleports, we had him take this SCP that makes it rain whatever liquid it touches,. Like wouldn't it be cool if someone saw a planet where it rained this parasitic red water?" and everyone was like "Fuck yeah dude that an awesome idea!!" Like the SCP Foundation completely fucked some random planet, like there is now just some planet out there that's just got a ton of Red Ice shit now.
This is likely what brought scp 009 to the scp foundation, in some other parallel dimension, someone probably moved the substance to a different universe to save there own ass.
When you realize this SCP makes no sense due to percipitation and run off. Legit there are cracks in the ice that form over time. The liquid could run down it, make its way to an underground water source, and spread to a great body of water. How on earth it hasnt already infected the world is werid
No... More like.. The ICE is it's initial containment cell, what if the otherworldly beings used an "SCP" from their world to get here? They didn't know how to get back, and they also had this specimen there, they had to contain it
The reason is this scp works differently from norma water, this scp will be frozen solid when temperature reach above 0 degree, meaning underground containment is impossible because it will be frozen solid before it can travel to sea water, this scp stay in it's liquid form is because the tunnel in alaska is cold enough to "melt" it. But containment with another living being which is warmer will start to frozen.
Plot Hole: According to the beginning of the video, the Red Water is a liquid between 0 and -100 degrees and turns solid when _over_ 0 degrees, and gaseous when _under_ -100 degrees. Heat freezes the water while cold melts it. So if the foundation wants to keep the stuff in a solid-state, Why are they keeping the pool at -50 degrees, and panicking anytime the temperature goes HIGHER than that??? The temperature they're keeping it at isn't cold enough for it to become a gas,(the supposedly most dangerous form) but it's still cold enough to be in liquid form, and should be much hotter if they want to keep it in a solid state.
Easier to keep as a liquid bc it’ll take up less space, if it solidifies and expands then it could easily breach containment and then go back to a liquid and spread
@@alfiegordon9013 Its not like they are hurting for space, just build a container large enough to fit its frozen state. I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but the internal inconsistencies kept me from really enjoying this one. In many cases, the story conveniently forgets the inverted boiling and freezing temperatures. Even if I accept it is a substance from an alternate dimension where thermodynamics is mirrored, many of the examples had SCP-009 behaving like normal water. For example, the cave of Red Ice. The ice would by nature of SCP-009 have been converted into SCP-009, and in order to remain solid ice, the cave interior would need to be above 0°C. Also, the warning system of the containment base is backwards. If the temperature rises above 0°C, SCP-009 is at risk of freezing, not evaporating. Keeping it at -50°C is increasing the risk of evaporation, not preventing it. Dumping coolant into the room is the last thing you would want to do. These are just a couple of inconsistencies that prevented me from really enjoying this one.
Exactly! I remember listening to a mock EAS about 009 contaminating public water sources, and I remembered the inverted freezing and boiling points and thought, "wouldn't the water taps become a giant block of ice?"

There seems to be a really large glaring oversight in the plot, if the red liquid converts other liquids to itself regardless of state solid or liquid how did it not spread immediately in the icy Snowy cave which are just two different forms of solid water
Most won't catch that my friend but I think the answer is in a single unclear sentence. The "regardless of physical state" applies to the SCP instance. It can only convert liquid moisture (steam too?). Any earth H2O above freezing either way. That seems to be the most likely case because priority was given to keeping it cool to build the containment. It's actually miraculous that, if ET in origin, it landed in Alaska and not the Bahamas. 009 in any form will infect unfrozen moisture. That's why it says 009 vapor (red mist) is the most dangerous
Also, later in the video it states that it has it's states swapped - over 1C it brcomes solid and under - 100C it brcomes a gas, but its containment chamber was kept at - 50C. That would mean that 009 would be a gas and very easy to spread, why would they keep it at - 50 C?
@@mishobelev6924 ...I don't think you paid attention to what was stated, between -1 and -100 C it is liquid, above 0 C it is solid, below 100C it is vapor
This story is actually kind of stupid. Why not bring the whole supply into room temp, and let it freeze over? Seems like an extremely easy and convenient way to contain it, given that its solid form if far less volatile.
I feel like the inverted thermal properties might be a clue to it's origin. Liquid water is integral to life, so where ever it came from, the threshold for life must be between 0 and -100. Or maybe it's a terraforming tool for planets like Mars. Interesting, even if it is yet another SCP video. Don't worry, yes I understand it's easier to build a viewer base with an already popular product line, just looking forward to "urban legends and myths...creepypastas and horror stories" type videos your channel description mentions.
Why didn't it spread much more thoroughly through the surrounding ice cave? In a couple of days that entire cave should have almost been entirely converted to red ice.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who immediately thought "Agent Hughes" was automatically going to die no matter where he was sent? He also looks similar to Maes. It can't be coincidence...😢😢😢

Wouldn't it be easier to contain if SCP-009 was kept at above 0 degrees? That would reduce the risk of containment breach through any property of a liquid (such as infiltration into surrounding soils and ice) and also make it less likely to spread to humans and other living organisms through liquid contamination.
Early in the story it is established that above 0 C it is a solid, which would be the easiest form to contain. Yet later it is said they keep it cold..... that makes no sense. It's like the writer of this forgot the details half way through it.
This one should be in keter class. You better pray to your broken god, that this cave is the only source... One drop in the ocean and we are done for it...
This whole idea seems very much inspired by (stolen from) Kurt Vonnegut's novel "Cat's Cradle". Even the SCP number is probably a deliberate reference to ice-nine. The concept with the substance acting as a seed crystal when coming into contact with water always creeped me out. It's an apocalypse waiting to happen (and in Vonnegut's tale, it does). But I feel like it was explained better in the book, despite being a satire, and also somehow MORE terrifying to me because ice-nine did not have mysterious or supernatural origins, it was man-made. The scientist's goal was to freeze mud to help military advances on the battlefield. This SCP version did not add enough material to really stand on its own in my opinion. Fun animation and narration, though.
So after an intro where the narrator says that Red Water evaporates when cold and "freezes" when hot, we get a video where it does the exact opposite most of the time. The test in the lab with the D-Class was a third scenario at room/body temp, neither of which is near high enough to boil water. It just seems this is a garbled attempt make an homage to Kurt Vonnegut's Ice Nine compound from his book "Cat's Cradle." Also, why do SCP agents walk into situations without so much as goggles, latex gloves, and a disposable breathing mask. Get some PPE people.

"And about a meter further down, there was a puddle, and it was red"
Yeah no shit sherlock. The whole tunnel is wet and red.
So after an intro where the narrator says that Red Water evaporates when cold and "freezes" when hot, we get a video where it does the exact opposite most of the time. The test in the lab with the D-Class was a third scenario at room/body temp, neither of which is near high enough to boil water.
It just seems this is a garbled attempt make an homage to Kurt Vonnegut's Ice Nine compound from his book "Cat's Cradle."
Also, why do SCP agents walk into situations without so much as goggles, latex gloves, and a disposable breathing mask. Get some PPE people.
U walked on red red ice now you must pay the price

Vonnegut stans unite!
I don't wanna live in a world like this man
Oh god this is so terrifying i can't sleep its perfection
Better written
Then you'd love Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. It's a complete clone of the primary "antagonist", "Ice-Nine", in that novel.
If the scp foundation got bored they could put it in the ocean
Hey, keep it Up, really nice Work. By the way... Speak a little slower please...
Super easy to get rid of. Pump electricity through it and convert all of it into plain oxygen and hydrogen. :-)
the red ice for some reason reminds me of like the frost bearing tree from Genshin impact
Interesting, I see the human infection form looks like the infected from the Rainbow 6 Siege event.
