Finding and catching BIG River Catfish

- This video Brought to you by monsterrodholde... and starts out with a bang for sure, we get caught in a huge thunderstorm on the Tennessee River, however, the low-pressure system that was present triggered a catfishing frenzy. The catfish were stacked in one of the only deep holes on a five-mile stretch of river and they were hungry. Both flathead catfish and blue catfish shared this spot but I don't show every catch in this video as there was over 30 catch caught sitting spot locked in the one littler dep hole in the Tennessee River. We had 0 current and the wind was blowing us up the river. I used my spot lock option on my Ulterra trolling motor from Minn Kota to stay on the waypoint I had marked using my Lowrance HDS12 GPS system. The spot lock feature allows you to stay on an area without me having to monitor it giving me more time to catfish. I hope you enjoy the video.

You’re absolutely my favorite fisherman. Old school, electrical tape on the thumb and burgers on the boat....I love it. Also really enjoyed the longer video. Many of the fishing shows/videos nowadays only show the highlights, and I really liked seeing all the additional stuff in this one. Sure do appreciate you putting these videos out for us, I’m sure there’s a ton of work involved in putting something like this together. scott grizzle not trying to hate on your maxxs too much but they most certainly can be beat. Ever heard of abu garcia 6500 c3? Thats what I moved up to. Take a look at them happy fishing and tight lines

All you guys can not catch fish without your electronics. Makes me laugh in a lot of ways. Put most of you in a River you have never fished without your Sonar and you are screwed. Oh Steve, I know you have caught some without it all but it makes me laugh. We do not use them as it take the fun out of it for us. Yes, it took awhile to find all the honey holes but we bring out tons of fish and have for years. Hope you are having a great year. We are filling the Freezers up with Flats big time this year.

Tonight I’m out on my deck staring at my pond where my big white catfish rod used to be. I had it in a Field&Stream DELUXE rod holder screwed to the dock on a 2x4. When the big cat hit after 10 pm the rod holder separated due to poor design. I guess I had the drag set a little too hard. DAMN. Si much for Dicks and Field&Stream. I was using a rig that you showed me how to fix up here on YT. THANKS FOR THAT ANYWAY.

As always an awesome video! Keep the great footage coming as you have for years now. I have one question tho I’d love for you to answer Steve. How deep do you prefer to fish in a lake during the very early fall at night for flathead catfish? Water temp 76 degrees. Im just wondering if I’m fishing to shallow I’ve caught some big fish but it’s rare that I do. At night I have been fishing 20 feet and less and I really don’t get to many fish come across my Lowrance that shallow.
A flat head in that class is on my bucket list

She must be a great gal to support what you obviously love to do. I notice, that you don't seem to emphasize the use of live bait for flatheads, like so many others do. And, noticably, you catch a number of flatheads on the cut skipjack. Would you elaborate on that topic for us, sometime ? Thanks Steve.
