But it's super hard without that defensive plate. With out the defensive plate you with have to get extremely lucky or use a 40% or higher defensive strap with honky tonk man and even then it's a toss up if they have flat gem coaches or trainers because you don't have the plate.
@gamingchampions9992 no it's all about the reduce 100% gem damage move you have to hit it twice and pin him him with the other purple move. If you pin him with a swipe then they will kick out because it last for 2 turns your turn and their turn. On a swipe that is your second turn so that means it is only 2 left. That is why he is using the defensive plate. Makes sense.

the gems are doing negative damage which counts damage for him instead of the opponent kicking out
At the point of the pin the opponents gem damage was -200%. So every swipe made the damage grow instead of go down.
