Yeah it's a lot stronger. It gives a 2x boost AFTER the 1.5x STAB, so it's like having 3x STAB on water moves which is insane. It also benefits fully from tera unlike Adaptability, so that makes it a 4x boost. Add rain on top of that and you make it 6x!!!!!! Imagine giving both this and Fishious Rend to something with an actual attack stat 252+ Atk Choice Band Water Bubble Tera Water Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Fishious Rend (170 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Dondozo in Rain: 597-703 (118.4 - 139.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO yeah this goes hard
in a vacuum water bubble is higher for sure. it's not an adaptability-like boost(+33%) , it's more like huge power (+100%) on water moves, but also on special moves. any decent water type would go crazy with this.
Fun fact, apparently, compound eyes boost 100% accuracy move to. I was on showdown and someone kept spamming double team raising the evasion and my Galvantula still kept hitting it with Bug buzz. I was really confused until I scrolled over the move and actually saw that it got boosted to like 110 or 120 accuracy, which explained why the move was still hitting. That was a pretty big shock to me and I won the game because of it.
In a vacuum, Comatose would be *much* higher. The main reason being that you can use Sleep Talk anytime, which lets you do some really stupid stuff... like having a 'mon with only Roar/Whirlwind and then using Sleep Talk to use those moves without their lowered priority. Or putting it on Pawmot to use Revival Blessing with Sleep Talk's 16 PP. There's a reason it's banned in the "Almost Any Ability" metagame. Edit: Whee, #29 is Grassy Surge; we're Grassy Gliding out of Galar with this one.
For the "In a vacuum" ranking, I think Aroma Veil would be sneakily amazing. On a wall with good stats and a good move set, being untauntable, unencoreable, untormentable... That would be such a problem. ❤
Strictly speaking Primordial Sea and Desolate Land only block attacks, so you can still use status moves like Will-O-Wisp and Soak. Nice Shedinja item distribution graph. Although most of the items are detrimental or at best useless, Eject Button could be used with Endure to give an ally a safe switch in.
If this wasn't in a vacuum, than embody aspect hearthflame was waaaay underrated. That mon is crazy in doubles and banned to ubers in singles, and the ability is a big reason why
I feel like sharpness should have been way higher because it just a free choice band on sharp moves. It has no flaws. And like you said it could move a pokemon a whole tier and i believe thats true.
You know what would be a sick ability, one that causes the Pokemon to use split a single strike move into two consecutive half-powered strikes. Like headbutt would be 2 consecutive 35 damaging hits. The anti-sash ability.
Agreed, basically its only worse if the opponent is using Defog (since the hazards go off anyways), but in any other case it would be better to bounce the status off than just being imune to it
I think in a vacuum Wonder Guard is undeniably #1. I could be wrong on this, but unless there's a Gravity user in play, a Wonder Guard Poison/Dark type like Skuntank with Air Balloon would just be completely untouchable. Even ignoring that, bulky mons with few weaknesses would be even harder to take out since neutral attacks couldn't chip in.
Eddie Hall currently holds the record for the hardest punch ever recorded, with a score of 208,901. And then he lost to two bunny rabbits, a yoga instructor, and a tiny girl with two big mouths for hairs.
I feel like illusion would be worse in a vacuum, hisuian Zorark would be the best user of it because of its immunities, and very few mons would rather have illusion than another ability. Great video!
I just watched the whole series and I have an idea how to do the maximum amount of damage. You use iron hands with a sitrusberry then belly drum you can symbiosis a choiceband onto it then switch in stonjouner on the other side you can have chien pao and a level1 smeargle with helping hand
I feel like water bubble should be much higher, fire resist and burn immunity is already great but dracovish showed us how dangerous it can be to spam high power water moves.
4:53: I hope that you meant that Analytic is good for Starmie in the context of Trick Room. It is much too fast to make use of it otherwise. I do agree that Levitate and Wonder Guard are effective Abilities, but I personally do not like Levitate's existence because there is already a type (and a very common one at that) immune to Ground. I would forgive its existence if it made Ground-type moves do something else (thus I have no issue with Volt Absorb, Lightning Rod since Generation V, Motor Drive, or Earth Eater), but it does not, so I just find it redundant-good, but redundant. It does not help that most Pokémon that can have it cannot have anything else, not even a Hidden Ability (in fact, Duskull is the only Pokémon that can only have Levitate as a standard Ability and can also have a Hidden Ability, and even it had to wait until Generation VI to get it-and even then, it prefers Levitate to Frisk, and its evolutions prefer Pressure to Frisk-and only the evolutions of Koffing and Bronzor can have another standard Ability, and Koffing and Weezing had to wait until Generation VIII for that). I have tried to think about what other effect it could elicit, but I have not been able, so my solution is to drop it altogether (as has already happened with Cacophony, an unused Ability in Generation III that may have been intended for Whismur's evolution as per an Exploud TCG card from Diamond & Pearl-Great Encounters, but presumably GAME FREAK forgot about it and gave them Soundproof, which does the same thing, instead) and give the existing Levitate Pokémon other Abilities. Also, while Wonder Guard is a good Ability, Shedinja is a bad Pokémon, mainly due to its gimmick. I would appreciate it much more if it were not fixed at 1 HP. It also has five weaknesses, most if not all of which are quite common, probably because GAME FREAK knew that if it had fewer, then it would be broken. I do not often say that I hate a Generation III Pokémon, but I do hate Shedinja. I noticed that you only noted the more recent changes on some Abilities. Sturdy could not endure hits until Generation V, and Lightning Rod and Storm Drain did not provide immunity or a Special Attack boost either until then. Were you not counting on people still playing Generation III or IV competitive? This was a good series. I have been assessing which Abilities are best for each Pokémon on the Part 2 video; the rest of you can check it out and critique any of them there.
@@douglasandrews8977 based off most recent competitive effects or else buffed abilities like Sturdy might not be as high as they were borderline useless competitively for a bit. Analytic Starmie takes advantage of a switch as it gets the boost there and its other option in Natural Cure is good, but not always needed. Thanks for the comments, appreciate you watching and leaving feedback! Will definitely re-visit these when I am ranking in a vacuum.
Unfortunately, wil o wisp doesn't not proc that attack boost on thermal exchange. You just ignore the effects. I wish it did though. Bax would be even more broken 🔥🔥
40:10 I still dont know why hes not grass fairy seeing as hes made of bread and bread is made of wheat which is a GRASS! But no, pure fairy. If he was part grass his ability would be even better
I don't really know why Wo-chien's ability was higher than friend guard, or why it is high in the first place, because even with that ability, Wo-chien isn't really good and has low usage. Meanwhile, the mons that got friend guard have actually gained viability because of it (although it would be valid when basing singles, but Wo-chien isn't really that viable, so I do think it should be lower). In a vacuum, its deserves high placement, but when considering its users, I don't think it deserves high placement
Wow is a suprise see wonder guard in top 2 nothing will know that happen but really if you give wonder guard to any other pokemon is more letal that shadow tag literally a tinkaton how gonna kill that monster?
in the vacuum top (and here tbh) neutralizing gas should be uncontested number 1. it is the single best ability in the game, even compared to obviously broken wonder guard. see it this way: if all mons could run any ability, what would be the point of running anything that isnt neutralizing gas? even wonder guard would be useless if every opposing mon disables it. neutralizing gas is just as good in normal comp mons, carrying shitmon weezing to ou and vgc usage lol so many mons depend on their ability, just having a mon making them unusable by existing is crazy, it shouldve been way way higher and def deserves at least top 2 in the vacuum vid
Illusion is extremely overated. Hisui zoroak a mon with 3 immunities and an aggresive stat distribution with access to set up is basically the best type of mon at using it. And even with that its still only ru because its not as good as it sounds on paper. Im fairly certain if zoroak could have access to basically any if the damage boosting abilities below illusion like battle bond or neuroforce it would much rather have those instead.
I think that considering the ruling for this list was to weight it by how good the pokemon are that have it/how well they make use of it, Wonder Guard needs to drop down a few places. Shedinja is just such an irredeemably awful pokemon that even with the help of Wonder Guard, it’s one of the worst fully evolved pokemon of all time. On any other mon I agree with the placement, but considering how this list is weighted, Wonder Guard has to drop imo
I am sorry, but Huge Power and Pure Power are not top 10. You have to think of it like this: Gamefreak could have just gave those Pokemon the Atk BST of what they would have had with Huge Power but instead they just use the ability and gave them a lower BST instead. You have to think of it as if they had no ability at all and even worse because you have to invest 252 evs into attack instead of other places because you want the max benefit of Huge Power. If there attack stat was higher then those EVs may have been better used elsewhere. The only exception where Huge Power is actually good is Mega Mawile because it allows it to get around the Mega evolution rules.
I cant believe honey gather wasn't in the top 50

Defog still works in magic bounce but instead of your opponent you get your state lowered but yeah it's a good uno reverse card for hazards
