On the bright side, I really enjoy that the face of that troublesome van in "Haunted Henry" has become a complete running gag for this channel; its placement in the thumbnail is just golden humor.
Woodland scenics makes a road making kit that includes the smooth-it and the paving tape. Another thing I would recommend having done, is use some extra wood or some sheet styrene to make a barrier around the edge of the board.
Just use asphalt colored cardstock from Hobby Lobby. That's what I used for my O scale layout. Though you'll have to get a paper slicer to scale/cut it correctly.
Well I guess the way people get things smooth with sanding is by first using a heavy grit sand paper and then going over it with a finer grit. The heavy grit removes a lot of the big imperfections, then the fine grit helps smooth out the small ones. It's tedious though which is why I don't sand stuff down often myself, and when I do, I just use one grit, which I then use paint to hide the "imperfections." And of course, how I get it looking smooth as I can, I mentioned my methods in your Horace vid. How that helps you somehow.
As a citizen of the county that Britain forgot I actually think the plaster attempt was more accurate. Also to give the layout some life maybe a small building could be added like a hut or a signal box?
6:54 The Ford Mustang has a 0-60 acceleration of between 4 and 7 seconds, and a battery charge time of between 7 and 9 hours. The steamroller, on the other hand, has a GIANT ROLLER, and crushed a narrow gauge van. So, in short, the steamroller.
If you ever try again, try using vinyl concrete patch. It's pretty easy to work with and it looks good in it's natural color, it's like putting mortar on a brick.
You could use stepping stone mix in a silicon mold, maybe that might work, your model making series helps me out a lot by showing me how to plan my own layout, i can’t wait to see horace in a ttte series
When I was building my layout, I didn't bother fussing about with model road resin mixture as it can get really messy. Painting on a road may not be very realistic but it hasn't let me down. I use Games Workshop paint as it dries quicker and doesn't leave too much brushstrokes. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter as it is your layout at the end of the day.
In regards to the road that just got painted on: why not get a cork roadbed or something and paint that? It would add much needed texture and might even look somewhat realistic.
Everyone's giving suggestions to T1E2H3 on how to make the roads smooth. Nobody is talking about how the man sounded like Undertale's Papyrus with his "HOW?!" in the intro.
best way i make my roads is to use filler and once it dry sand it down and if there any little holes just fill them in with filer then sand them down then you should be good.
Tbh what i do if detailing is too hard and just defeats its own point, I just skip it and work on stuff like track and locos. Btw, there is this sorta road tape thing, it looks eh, but still kinda shows what its supposed to be. Edit: shouldve watched the whole video lol, you show it at the end.

Do a British layout then they won’t have to be smooth
Well duh, anyone can just throw clay at a baseboard and bam, british road!
Add a Range Rover and *magnifique*
@@caledonianrailway1233and also add parking lots and range rovers taking up 2 FREAKING SPACES -WHY THE FUCK DO THEY DO THAT????-
Do a Russian layout so there is no road

It’s nice that you put in a clip from Cars in here. I always enjoy watching that movie.

T1E2H3 getting screwed over for 7 minutes and 52 seconds 💀
Glad to see another one of these Model Railway Vlogs. Great work, T1E2H3!

Sanding, depending on the grit, effects how smooth a surface is. like 50-100 takes of a lot while 1500-3000 makes it very smooth

Mr. T1E2H3, if you take requests, would you make a YTP of the infamous "Middle Engine" episode? It'd be really fun.
or better yet, a series 20 episode?
@@tophatgaming1873 Eh, I think models are easier to use for material. It's what I'm used to the most. Though, everyone has an opinion.

A nice funny video! Now I’m wondering why people smooth their models

I wish I knew how to do model railroads. I tried a few times. It was really brutal

@Thomas1Edward2Henry3 could be set in the irish countryside, considering our roads are terrible
That goes for all of the uk we live in a giant rally course
@@caledonianrailway1233 we both rly live in the 2 countrys with the worst roads
I think you're supposed to use high grit sandpaper to get it smooth. I'm not 100% positive though.
Roadways are no good. Turn them into rails
George: roads are no good turn them into railways
Dude, I don’t know how they do it either..
way to go mate
It's actually pretty simple
Just make the road smooth.
i guess you could have used paper mache and then painted it grey to give you that smooth road look you wanted
0:20 headphone users beware T1E2H3 yell is loud
Hey one quick tip use wood all you need to do is sand it use some polish and paint over it

I dare you to make an ox out of that steamroller
Give the road a cookie, and then it will be smooth

Is your layout going to be a dogbone track plan
just say the set up is meant to be set in the midwest cause the roads here suck

maybe try building it in trainz 19/22 first?
You’re actually a mostly decent role most.

I’d just use sandpaper
Use a Steam Roller matchbox or Use a Spatula
Trowell?
So, for plaster roads, you have to sand them smooth.
Don’t beat yourself too much with your model making skills, pretty much everybody royally screws up at some point

I am eating cupcakes with mustard
Roadways are no good! Pull 'em up! Turn them into rails!
hello
oh my
It doesn’t look that bad. To me at least.
This is why i use paper mache
If you say it’s a Midwest road then you won’t need to make them smooth
just let it be blackburn road
Make American layout so you don't have to try. Just slap some tanish brown spray paint on Styrofoam
tbh it'd probably be easier to just paint on a road instead of using this road stuff you got
It mater
Foot
make polish roads, than they will be realistic
