  • Joel Salatin inspires us by bringing 'alternative' way to grow food in a larger scale.
He demonstrates how he develop systems at his farm Polyface and he says that "ANYONE can do it ANYWHERE".
Filmed at Gatton/ Australia - 2013 no cuts, with his permission.

Only 10k views after 3 years.... This should be mandatory education.
I have seen many lectures by Joel Salatin but none of them provided enough time to let him elaborate this extensively.
Thanks for uploading this video. 👍

I always find something new no matter how many times I listen to his lectures. We are fortunate to hear from his 50 years of observations, experiences and trials, errors, theories and education. The segment about the life cycle of flies and cattle is something I had previously missed.

"before you get married, you need to sort cattle together". All of the fiances in my family have been required to work the mucky chutes on my Father in law's feedlot. Seeing our guys in those wranglers working hard just solidified our decisions to marry them!

Do you have Part 2 that you could upload? I would greatly appreciate it. I see part three and part four but no part 2.

Trailer instead of hay wagon. I was wondering about that.

Why does he now use a slatted floor with walls?

As he said, the slatted floor allows the droppings to escape and provides strength to the floor so a person can walk inside to clean it, gather eggs, make repairs, remove dead chickens, etc. Walls provide some rigidity to the transportable structure when it is moved.

maybe you could make a plexiglass box at the chicken traktor so the chicken can look around and pick a button to open it themselves.
bcause mr. fox could figure out the opening time and wait at the automatic door in the morning.

That's why Joel encourages grass to grow to provide habitat for mice for the fox to eat. If not, he shoots the foxes.

Weaker genetics also apply to people as well. Thousands of years making humans strong only to have everyone a tranquilizer these days. I buy fresh food!
