    Personally, I prefer the MUD door mirror upgrades, as they are also bigger and have an integral blind-spot mirror. The blind-spot mirrors can be mounted top or bottom, by simply removing the retaining trim. Mine are mounted one up, the other down.
    As for electrically heated, that's not really necessary, and is extra work to wire in. Simply polish your glass with surfactant, which is a water repellant. Surfactant polish will prevent misting, ice and snow can't stick to it, as well as preventing most of muddy spray from sticking. It also makes rain run straight off, which is why it's the key ingredients in Rain-X and similar. Surfactants are cheaply available as laundry fabric softeners. You can also use fabric softener to surfactant polish your headlamps, so road spray keeps your headlights brighter, as well as your side windows. Applied on the interior glass, it also prevents the notorious Defender misting. But, WARNING, you must never apply Rain-X or other surfactant to the exterior of a Defender windscreen, as it'll cause your wipers to judder and actually causes blinding pooling of water on the very upright flat windscreen!
    Hope this information is useful - Rick

    Fitted Spafax mirrors a few years ago, really good field of vision and they stayed put even when I smashed the mirror clean off an oncoming transit. 👍

    Spafax wing mirrors are one of the cheapest and best upgrades I ever fitted (not heated ones though) got mine from a bus scrap yard

    New spafax mirrors look great and the hinges look good quality and tie in nicely with the look. I have stock mirrors but really interested in the heated elements. Have never minded scraping ice off my mirrors before but my current defender has a heated front window which is superb and could see heated mirrors as a great extra option in Scotland. Love the inspiration keep the videos going. Thanks.

    Those mirrors look great, I think I'll get a pair, I'm putting cameras on all 4 corners and they look like a good mounting point. Hinges look well in black, not sure they'll last as long as stainless ones though.

    The black fittings theme looks ace with the white body. Personally not a fan of those mirrors though but that’s what makes everybody’s defender unique. Currently working on a recently purchased defender as I’ve always wanted one since being a kid, so these videos couldn’t have come at a better time! Thank you so much for doing them Fraser 🙏

    I don't know why everyone gets excited about these mirrors, the military only fit them because the Shitpart ones we were getting were so bad you could barely tighten them enough to hold them up without stripping the thread

    Liking the way this build is going most the choices are what I would of picked myself.. Can't quite make my mind up with the mirrors.. And the hinges I think would look better white.. Unless more black is going to be added with roof rack and sliders and wheels etc 👍🏼

    Another good video! Any chance of an up coming video on how to redo the headliner? 👍

      Possibly! I've retirmmed a few with scrim foam and as long as the main panel hasn't deteriorated it's a good project to take on.

    Nice video, but you missed a trick here. While you've got the hinge and the retaining clips off, that's an ideal time to pump some Dinitrol 3125 HS (other makes are available) into the void around the top of the bulkhead as well as the lower hinge cavity, where the access will run out on the floor so make sure you have some rags to save your block paving being marked, how do I know that! Most of the cans will take a long flexible nozzle assembly to get further into areas than is usually possible. Well worth doing at this stage as the bulkhead will rust as surely as the rear cross member does.

      I did film doing this but the video was too long. I'll post it as a short. Great minds.

    Another great video - the highlight to my week atm. Won’t be long till you have that 100k subscribers!
    Out of interest, any progress with the hinge collaboration? I’m looking to change my door hinges but currently holding off until I hear what you have to offer. I’ve got a feeling that a lot of thought will have been put into them :)

    Another brilliant video! One of the best defender channels on TH-cam atm.
    Can I ask how come you went with exmoor trim hinges? Your video the other day suggested you thought optimill were better? How does the play affect the door once it’s fitted?

    • @LRLiveUK
      @LRLiveUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank mate! I prefer the look of the Exmoor trim hinges and also as we're fitting the Mantec carrier the clearance will be better. I'm working on some security ides at the moment. One thing Exmoor mentioned was that the screw at the hinge bolt is simply there to allow maintenance / greasing and the pin is machine pressed in, which makes them better for anti theft than I originally thought.

    • @alexthetaxi
      @alexthetaxi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LRLiveUK that’s great to know about the pin.
      I’ve assumed you’ve already considered ‘hinge guards’. I’d have thought they would have stopped any risk of theft of doors?

    I think the hinges would look better white. There's too many black spotty looking things already that the whole thing reminds me of a Dalmatian dog. Some contrast is good, but I think, less is more.
