I make my edge band clamps with old bike tire inner tubes. Cut them about 8" long(experiment) and then insert the clamp pads a couple inches in each end of the tube. They work perfectly fine and they're way cheaper.
Okay so..... I figured I'd find a couple of more stocking stuffers for my son who is getting into woodworking but what happened is that I had to order " two " of a few of these things......one from Santa and one FOR Santa.
You had me in the beginning. I thought, "Oh, no! don't end cool tools." My eye's weren't on the screen when you flashed "of 2024" I'm glad there will be more. And I'm going to definitely check out the carabiner. Thanks for sharing as always.
The drill bit keychain rules, it’s great for shop work but I especially love it for working on a job site. My pockets and pouches aren’t full of loose bits to dig around for, I never have to look around to find where I put a bit down or have them all roll all over the place, or go and open up the case to find a bit, they’re just right there on my hip it’s awesome.
I have a few of the bit holders. I customize them for each task. I also color code them. For example all the red ones are Robertson bits, green are Phillips and black are torx. Makes it quicker to find the right bit.
James, you are a treasure box full of great information. I appreciate your knowledge, wisdom and candor. You set a very high bar for integrity and, you meet it consistently. Thank you.
That bit holder is a great idea. I had designed and 3D printed a small block to hold 5 bits to keep in my pocket while working with my bit driver, but these are even easier to keep clipped in an accessible spot.
That thin rip jig really is a better mousetrap. Something I didn’t know I needed until now. And that Trend cleaner looks great as well. All good suggestions, thanks! 👍
I received the carabiner hex clips from a friend. At first I was like ...ok. THEN I started using it and can't believe how much I LOVE it!! No more digging in pockets or going back to my toolbox.
Thin rip jig on order! Along with the obvious tasks, I am going to use it to guide my slab sawing sled. The jig will help keep the sled against the fence while I rip the raggedy edge off the slab. Kinda like a jig to guide a jig. Can't wait to try it out! Thanks!
I've had that bit holder carabinee for a while, and i keep it fastened to my cordless drill's bit holder, so instead of one bit, i keep all my most commonly used bits readily available on my drill.
Great way to end another year of cool tools. Thank you for all you do for the woodworking community! James, I wish that you and your family have a very happy holidays this year. Thank you!
Morning. Another great tool video. After seeing you wear them for so long, I recently purchased a pair of IsoTunes headphones. I was concerned that listening to music while I worked would be a huge distraction. But, at 70 years old, I realized that the first thing I turn on when I get to the shop is the radio. Then I turn it up to cover the shop noises throughout the day. Duh. They are wonderful. Not only are my tunes crystal clear, the noise cancelling feature is amazing. But, I can still hear someone speaking to me, I can still hear the machines to know when something sounds different and the music actually keeps my mind from wandering and I don't lose my focus. I also try to buy from local small businesses, so it's a win all around. Also, the Bow clamps look good. Their featherboards are great. I would love to eliminate my box of miscellaneous bench clamps. Thanks. Merry Christmas blessings to you and yours.
Love my IGaging thin rip jig. I use it often because I refuse to make thin cuts between the fence and the blade but also because I don't have to measure to adjust the fence for every cut.
I love my hex bit carabiners! I have one in the house and one in the garage, for bits I use often in each spot that don’t have a home in a specialized box
I had no idea m power had sb2 and sb1 . The only reason I didn’t get the sbs is because I also wanted to sharpen knives and the middle stone basically would be obsolete for knives . Looks like I know what I’m buying next , thanks! Hope everyone has a happy holiday!
Ok I’m for sure getting the caribeaner and the table saw guide for thin cuts. I hate having the cutoffs shoot out of the saw, yes I stand off to the side just to be safe. But I just know there will be a day I forget and this would 100% prevent that from being a problem!
James, thank you. Your videos are the ones I enjoy the most. So we'll produced without bells and whistles to distract us from what is important. Truly, thank you. May your holiday season be filled with good food, tasty drinks, health and love from friends and family. All the best to you and yours. Keep well and raise hell. Dave & The Girls
Thanks again for another informative video showing tools that work! So many of us value your opinion about tools because you actually use them and you’ve proven that you are extremely knowledgeable in many aspects of woodworking. Looking forward to more from you in 2025! Merry Christmas yo you and yours.
That MPower sb1 is their best setup yet. I couldn't click that link fast enough. A single stone setup gives access to all grits at all angles of attack. It's also ambidextrous (us lefties love this). Now they need to start offering add-on stones with a range of grit combinations to make this a modular system for those who might want to upgrade in the future. Maybe even sell the stands, strops, waxes, and stones separately and let the buyer build their own custom setup.
I bought the Milescraft drill block recently (the metric version), but have yet to use it. I have a thin rip jig with three knobs, and wouldn't want a single knob version. If I need to remove it temporarily, I can still leave the size set on it, rather than have to reset the size simply because I removed it.
My heart almost stopped at the beginning, but thankfully, you ended on a high note. I love❤ Cool Tools. You should NEVER stop the series., too many of us will be crushed. Thank you for introducing me to M Power, BOW, Taylor, Cubitron, and Iso Tunes among others to me and your audience As a newbie hobbiest it is easy to get lured in on equipping the shop with things that are unnecessary. James, I do not regret a single purchase I made from your channel. And my next buy is going to be those darn bit holders for me and my favorite contractors. May you have a wonder December and A happy new year. I look forward to learning more from you next year.
MPower also so an even smaller double sided sharpening stone, it doesn't have the metal base but smaller magnetic feet. Its 25 quid cheaper and very compact. I could never get my tools sharp until I got one!
I am going to be building a system to flatten boards, as I don't have room for a jointer in my shop, and the Bow clamping system looks like the ticket to hold boards in place.
Well, that was rare. A therefor I have the iso tunes, I couldn't live without the drill block, but that bit carabiner, I've been looking for that for years. . . thanks, and all the best.
I got a pair of Isotunes Air defenders thinking they would just be a good set of ear protection but shitty headphones but they truly are pretty good. Well worth the ~$60 i spent on them.
Man I was doing thin curved edge banding a week ago and I forgot all about the band clamps. I was wrapping the piece with bungie cords but this would have been so much easier
I got my Isotunes a couple of years ago and I love to listen to podcasts while I work in the shop or the yard. They are great while cutting grass on my lawn tractor. Kills the noise and still allows me to hear the conversation on the podcast I am listening to.
Massive favor to ask: If at all possible, can you also link to metric versions if they exist? I have (and will be without a doubt be buying) many of your recommendations but always a bit of a process to find the metric versions here out of Australia. And thank you so much for the videos, really, really appreciate and enjoy them alway: Thank you so much!!!!
Just another great cool tool’s James definitely going to check out just the couple I don’t have from your suggestion on other cool tool episodes. Thanks for always sharing such great products and great family business like iso tunes, and Taylor Tools have ordered many things from them and will continue to do so because of your suggestion. Merry Christmas to you and your family and a Happy New Years. James look forward to next year and more amazing cool tools.
If you slow the video down or pause at the right time, you'll see that he flashed "of 2024" up on the screen... This series is too much of a hit to discontinue, so fear not, it's not over
One additional thought. I was going to buy the thin rip jig (been wanting one) but I just can't see paying 10 dollars for shipping. I looked on Amazon and they don't have Igaging brand.
I have the Milescraft drill jig. Fortunately for those of us who ditched the imperial system years ago (like Australia) it also comes in metric from 3mm to 12mm.
I agree with almost all the recommendations in this video, I have most of them. My exception is ISO Tunes. I am serious about this one for 2 main reasons. First it breaks my heart to not support the product for all the same reasons that Stumpy does but I just cant. I had the ear buds and the over the ear headphone ISOtunes and I am sorry but I just dont agree because the audio quality is really bad. Forgo them and just use a good set of over the ear, headset type protection for a fraction of the cost like what you might use at a shooting range or get a good set of noise canceling headphones with better sound quality. Im all for protecting hearing, but if the audio quality/noise cancelation of a headset cant compete with the SPL of a Dewalt contractor table saw then I just have to disagree with Stumpy on this one. Again, it breaks my heart to say this because I truly believe in supporting small business, because I am one. But ISotunes poor audio quality and average noise cancelation technology just doesnt cut it for me. Your mileage may vary
Not a big fan of drill blocks. They make it hard to line up precisely with the mark. Don't the Bow clamps lift the work piece of the table slightly? (that's common to many side clamps) On 2 occasions it looks like they do in the video.
you say at @0:07 you state that this is the last Cool Tools. @9:34 you state that you will see me again on Cool Tools in 2025. Interesting. It would be great if you stopped producing Cool Tools. It cost me money! 🙂

This is a great video, not only entertaining but also extremely informative and fun!
The bit carabiner might be just what I did not know I needed.
With my luck I'd end up with a drill bit impaled into my rear end
I have a few of the bit holders. I customize them for each task. I also color code them. For example all the red ones are Robertson bits, green are Phillips and black are torx. Makes it quicker to find the right bit.

Sometimes a tool is so useful, so simple that you’re amazed it wasn’t thought of centuries ago.
As an added bonus, the bit carabiner will also securely hold round approximately 6mm / 1/4” shafts…I use them with some Irwin countersink bits.
I had no idea m power had sb2 and sb1 . The only reason I didn’t get the sbs is because I also wanted to sharpen knives and the middle stone basically would be obsolete for knives . Looks like I know what I’m buying next , thanks! Hope everyone has a happy holiday!

I will miss Cool Tools, I have purchased many of the cool tools. I found stuff I never knew existed.
It was a joke. Listen again...
You must have missed the "of 2024" addendum he flashed up on the screen when he said it was the last one.
I, too, will miss Cool Tools this year.
I bought the Milescraft drill block recently (the metric version), but have yet to use it.
I have a thin rip jig with three knobs, and wouldn't want a single knob version. If I need to remove it temporarily, I can still leave the size set on it, rather than have to reset the size simply because I removed it.
I have the drill block. It really can be a Life Saver. I bought a second one so I never have to look far to find one (Yes, I have a messy shop)
Thanks for all the tips, James! 😊
Merry Christmas!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Just bought Iso Tunes. They are great

Thanks, again, Stumpy. You've helped me so many times. Oh, and Merry Christmas!
I have never cleaned my bits or blades, maybe this will be the year. I cant be alone,
Thanks and Merry Christmas
The hext-bit holder is so awesome that.....I have 2 hanging off my tote bag!!!
I love my Taytools spring clamps!
Seems like the Bow clamping system will work well with my Shaper Origin. I'm going to check it out.
One of the coolest tools in my kit is a Thales square. I made it myself
Merry Christmas Stumpy!
MPower also so an even smaller double sided sharpening stone, it doesn't have the metal base but smaller magnetic feet. Its 25 quid cheaper and very compact. I could never get my tools sharp until I got one!
Wish I could like it twice. Made me laugh.
Cool tools for sure! Thanks James for another great year of woodworking information! Happy Holidays to you and your family. 🌲🌲👍👍🔨🔨
Thanks for the great ideas. Happy Holidays to you and family.
Thanks for the great info as always . Have a a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year .
I am going to be building a system to flatten boards, as I don't have room for a jointer in my shop, and the Bow clamping system looks like the ticket to hold boards in place.
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for a great selection of ideas. I will be taking several of your suggestions.
Well, that was rare. A therefor I have the iso tunes, I couldn't live without the drill block, but that bit carabiner, I've been looking for that for years. . . thanks, and all the best.
Always great tips, Mr Hamilton
I'm sorry this is your last video! I've enjoyed each episode. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.👍
Um for 2024...
Me too. I heard it as "last forever." Then, closing comments made it sound like "last, this year". Or was it "last cool tools presentation".
Its not my last.
@@StumpyNubsI can't believe how many people missed the "of 2024," it was fast but not that fast 🤷🏻♂️🤣
@@mrcryptozoic817if you watch closely, he flashed the words "of 2024" up on the screen when he said it was the last one...
Thanks for sharing with us James. stay safe and Have a Merry Christmas. Fred
Cool tools are the best. Thank you for doing them and Merry Christmas!
I got a pair of Isotunes Air defenders thinking they would just be a good set of ear protection but shitty headphones but they truly are pretty good. Well worth the ~$60 i spent on them.

Yikes!! Initially I thought you meant forever!! I missed that 2024 flash over the screen.
You never explained in full why this is the last cool tools. If you’re taking note, I like this series that you do.
Last of 2024
I got my Isotunes a couple of years ago and I love to listen to podcasts while I work in the shop or the yard. They are great while cutting grass on my lawn tractor. Kills the noise and still allows me to hear the conversation on the podcast I am listening to.
This is the LAST TIME I’ll be watching ‘Cool tools’ … for 2024.
Thanks for another useful and entertaining year Stumpy 👍
When you get rid of all your clamps please send them to me, thank you 😮
That Trend Cleaner is awesome. I kept seeing it in your videos and was wondering when you were going to mention it in one of these.
There is a metric version of the Milescraft drill block; I bought one very recently. It was from either Amazon or Timbecon, probably the latter.
Perhaps another Roy Underhill impersonation. That contest entry makes me smile every time I watch this channel. 😁
Happy xmas Stumpy
I'm going to miss these tool reviews. Puzzled by the concern for the sewer rats.
Just a heads up that the link to your Center-Finding Ruler isn't working.
I have the Milescraft drill jig. Fortunately for those of us who ditched the imperial system years ago (like Australia) it also comes in metric from 3mm to 12mm.
The beard is looking great!... the tools too ;D
Why the last Cool Tools? I appreciate yours more than most. Maybe just reduce it down to one a year. An annual gift guide is usually welcome.
Last...of 2024
Look again. He flashes 2024 on the screen everytime he says this is the last video. Merry Christmas.
I appreciate your cool tools videos because of your videos I’ve discovered some pretty sweet tools thank you #stumpynubs
isotunes r on the christmas list...long over due
Please be careful driving home. Be safe.
Started like Scotty Kilmer “this is the end!”… again🤣
Like it!

If you take a drink every time he says the word "index" you will take two drinks.
Not a big fan of drill blocks. They make it hard to line up precisely with the mark.
Don't the Bow clamps lift the work piece of the table slightly? (that's common to many side clamps) On 2 occasions it looks like they do in the video.
Lift the drill block so the bit protrudes from the bottom where you can see to place the point on your mark. Then lower the block to drill.
For all the FORTUNATE subscribers to your great channel... The Milescraft drill guide is available in METRIC as well! 😂
Thanks for spending my money 🤣
Please make a few thousand more videos. In 2024 I mean.
The rest can come after that
My preference for bit holder is RAILER. Way more compact than that night watchman's clangy clang chain.
Thanks James. Merry Christmas, happy holidays or whatever you celebrate.
I kinda didn’t want to watch this bc I don’t really need to buy more things right now🤦🏻♂️🤣
WHAT!?!?!?? First no old timey workshop now no cool tools, TF blue!
Last of 2024. It was on the screen when i said it :)
This one time, at band clamp….
I just discovered this channel.. Bummer. Thanks anyway.
Last one for THIS year.
@johnbauman4005 I figured it out by episodes end. Bought lots of the stuff using your links. Thanks.
I had that Milescraft drill block. Utter garbage, threw it away.
How so?
I'm not sure about cheap 🙃
