I have the same exact setup, I use a 4 foot bush hog . It's still a little heavy but I am able to pick it off the ground completely.
One thing to mention is that, the lift arms are just long enough to make a hook up possible. It can be a bear to hookup to implements because of this but hey , paid for and works. Also has the cool factor that none of my neighbors have .

Enjoyed the content on the Allis and brush-hog...nice old machine.
Saw a dozer in the back ground ( looks like an old Allis ) any chance of a video 📹 on it sometime .

That'd be a 1955 Caterpillar D7, I hope to do some video on it later this year.

I'm considering a combo slip/freewheel clutch for a CA. The one I'm considering has torque adjustment screws to tailor the slip to the engine HP. I'd really hate to hit a giant rock and break PTO gears :(

I don't know if a slip clutch would necessarily protect you if you hit a rock any better than a shear bolt design. I would definitely go for some kind of overrunning clutch though. If you only need it for one application it would be nice if you could implement the overrunning clutch on the mower. So you could avoid the slop like I showed in the video.

Technically, you'd need a different shear bolt for different tractor/PTO combinations. What protects one tractor PTO might be annoyingly flimsy on another one. An adjustable one allows you to tailor the force without having to annoyingly run to the hardware store every little bit.

@@roadrunner3563 yeah I agree with you on that, but not knowing the whole setup I was assuming that you were only using the mower on one tractor.
