    Conversation at the dinner table is perfect and helps them to develop habits of talking about things. They’re excited about or sad about and know that it’s OK to talk about whatever is on their mind.

      The best talks I ever had with my son when he was growing up,was while we were eating. Bonus talks if we went out lol.

      @@LindaDietrich-i8d totally agree with dinner conversations. They're the best. It's a relaxed atmosphere and anything goes. I would just ask..what's on the conversation block tonight? That was all that was needed for non stop conversation.

    • @thaismatsumoto
      @thaismatsumoto 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      We had a rule that we ate dinner together. Not only for talking about things. ,but for bonding together. But we relaxed that when the boys were teenagers If they had after school events.

    Your conversations with the girls while eating are magical times. This is how they learn, in general. It's also just showing love!

    • @Devina210
      @Devina210 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yes. Just like Alicia, we were raised to eat dinner together, at the dinner table, and there was great conversation. Sometimes, my Dad would "host" little contests, like simple math problems we had to do in our head, spelling bees, little trivia questions. They were light-hearted activities that did not detract from the physical act of eating a meal. It made the routine a lot more fun. So I do enjoy the convos that Alicia has with her girls.

    As a trained developmental child psychotherapist I think you and your husband have the perfect formula when parenting your beautiful girls. You remain calm, you are attuned, you provide structure and nurture, playful moments and use attuned responses to support security in the girls. I so enjoy watching your girls develop into confident and secure children. Well done mom and dad! ❤😊

    I've commented before, but as a professor and consultant of early childhood education, you do a great job with the girls. I am a strong advocate for incorporating language & literacy into all aspects of child development. Your mealtime conversations are excellent and the girls clearly enjoy them😊 I can see the growth in their language & communication, in large part due to how you and Walt engage them in conversation. Keep doing what your doing, Mommy!! ❤❤

    So thoughtful of you to do this Q & A for your viewers! First, you're such a lovely person, so patient and calm and joyful. And you're very pretty too!
    The other main difference in Ana and Guin is Ana has mamas cheeks...her eyes being bigger and her cheeks rounder...that's how I first could tell them apart.

    That was so much fun! It’s always great to see your smiling face! When you were talking about being a barber I thought ‘I wonder if she still cuts Walt’s hair’ and then I had to laugh when a picture of him popped into my head! So funny how Ana called Dada Walt! Guin and her bangs!! I was a bit surprised someone asked why you talk to them during meals! I think it’s wonderful, I loved your explanation. You and Walt fill their lives with joy and vice versa! You are all very lucky! Did they have fun at the park?!

    Bless you for protecting your girls from the sun. I lost my daughter 24 years ago to melanoma. You and Walt are great parents and I never miss your videos. Enjoy them so much. They remind me of my girls when they were small. They were only a year apart .

      @joansimons6205 So sorry for your loss, Joan. A parent should never have to bury their child. I think back 50 years ago when I was a kid...it was common for people to slather baby oil on themselves and bake in the sun. Skin cancer is no joke, and it's so important to use sunscreen and wear hats even on cloudy days, especially on delicate baby skin. I hope happy memories of your daughter come to mind, especially when you need it the most to comfort you and bring a smile to your heart. 😇🙏💔

      Sign language really IS great to know. Schools are already tasked with so much they've got to teach our children, there may not be time in the school day, but I hope more parents will teach it to their kids. I wish teaching kids to sign was popular when my kids were little. It would have been so helpful in the days before they learned to talk.

    Thank you for the Q&A, very interesting. It’s a precious time when children are small and to enjoy and appreciate. It’s gone all too fast.❤
    My husband is left handed, back in the day he was forced to write with his right hand and physically hit with a ruler across the knuckles by his teachers if he used his left hand. Consequently he does write with his left hand but his hand writing is awful, glad that abuse has long since been banished.
    Incidentally, we also had a cat ( for 13 years) who we just called CAT, basically because no-one could think of a name for her that we could agree on.

    Thank you for sharing about your beautiful daughters! Even when you switched the girls, I could tell Ana from Gwen. To me, Gwen has more of a pixie face and Ana’s seemed more round. They seem so advanced in their language skills compared to other small children I see in TH-cam videos too! My only grandchild is now 19, so it’s been awhile. You come across to me as such a patient and loving mom and the same applies to your husband. He is very hands on with the girls! I hope you will continue letting us see them as they grow. I love it when they tell you to leave the camera on! In 10 or more years it will be so fun for them to see their younger selves! Great job, mom & dad!

    Wow! I love this video! Getting to hear Mom speak for a nice long period of time is really great and sharing all the details about the girls, answering questions, relaying stories is so great. The girls have Mom's absolutely gorgeous eyes! Again, love this, and thanks for this video. You ought to consider doing this periodically.

    Thank you so much for this Q & A Alicia! It was lovely to see your pretty face, and seeing you confirms my belief that Anna looks more like you. The girls are so cute and lovely, and they seem to be communicating more with each other on camera these days. BTW, I am a retired Hairdresser/ Barber, and owned my own businesses for years, so I know how hard it can be, though I loved every minute of it. It is a privilege for me to see a small window into your lives as a family.❤

    Hi Alicia, thank you for this session. We have a lot in common. We are both in Massachusetts. I try to "hide" my accent, but it does come out when I'm stressed or angry lol. You guys have a well-rounded parenting style, which is very refreshing. I was very happy to to see that youve taught them some signing...I taught my son some basic signs as my mother was born hard of hearing, and signing helped him understand why she speaks differently. I lost my 1st and 2nd pregnancies, one of them had a 99.9% fatal birth defect and our dr. said my chances of having another was high, so when we found my son was perfect, we decided to stop there. Keep up your good work. Youre going to have 2 very well-rounded adults 20 years from now! ❤🙂

    Wonderful video, Alicia! You've answered so many things of interest about you, Walt, and the girls. Conversation at the dinner table is so important! Being the oldest of five children, I always looked forward to my parents and siblings discussing things at meal time and having a few laughs besides! I think it's wonderful that you are teaching sign language to the girls. Can't wait to see more! The twins are so advanced for their age. Thank you for such an enjoyable and informative Q & A!

    I can’t imagine a dinner table with no conversation! That’s always been when we’re our happiest! Kids will learn not to talk with mouths full, etc, but being used to talking to each other will help them be more open as they get older.❤

      I think I’m able to tell the girls apart, it appears to me that Gwen’s face from the cheeks down is longer than Ana’s. Their personalities are a bit different also. Both are adorable ♥️

      I’ve noticed that Guin’s hair is a tad darker than Anna’s. That’s my go-to when i can’t see their face’s clearly. Face forward, Anna’s cheeks give her away. They’re both adorable in face and personality.

    Alicia, Thank you for today's video about talking to us about G. and A. I have been watching the twins daily since I first discovered them on TH-cam when they were about a year old. (I have since gone back to when they were born and your explanation of the difficult birth.) I am thoroughly enjoying them as well as you and Walt. You are wonderful parents and doing a marvelous job. What impressed me about today's video is the deep love you have for your twins. You simply radiate light and warmth as you talk about both of them. They are both such lucky girls. Thank you for bringing such beautiful, intelligent, funny, kind, and all around very special little people in our often lost and unkind world.❤❤❤❤

    Alicia, it's very nice that you've taken the time to answer questions.. as far as people questing you about having conversations at the dinner table that's how life should be That's what family should do That's how many of us grew up,, that was one's chance to be closer to the family... Has ideal for you to do that as for the girls hair they're little girls they're adorable with long hair nothing wrong with it... Your girls are so fortunate to have been born into your family with such loving parents that have opened their hearts and eyes and windows and doors open to all the possibilities out there for new experiences constantly with the new foods to taste and places to go especially the library, it's fantastic to take kids to.... It's just phenomenal that they have such an incredible vocabulary usage & thought process, and all the things that they do and their good manners, their compassion. You're all truly blessed and to be commended highly for all that you have done and all that you continue to do with and for the girls.. love & hugs to all of you,!

It keeps you abreast of so many things that are going on in the household and out of the household. It was so fun, Alicia, for you to answer questions about the girls. We'll see you tomorrow. :)
