Hi Bricksie! I really think the train grade starting near the rocks is a great idea. Also, when I saw you making the train bridge, I was a bit confused with your brick choice. I don't fully understand how Lego trains work, but it seems like you could make the train go up only 3 blocks instead of 4 using the same arches (please try this when you expand the bridge as you will have even less space of the left side). As a final thought, I'm sure the road bridge will look much better and won't stick out like a sore thumb when the rest of the city behind also has grade changes.
Keep the train track elevated through the s curve and put a tunnel walk-through for the pedestrians to cross under the train. Solves your slope issue because you have the long run to the train yard to use to bring it back down. I really like the look of how the city is coming to shape.
a huge benefit of raising the gradient of the train track earlier is that you could integrate a pedestrian walkway underneath the train track to make the boardwalk feel like less of a dead end. You could also add some small stores, and street vendors into that green area between the boardwalk and the train track to give the boardwalk more life.
Just an Idea, you mentioned trying to incorporate a walkway from boardwalk to a canal sidewalk.....what about UNDER? Widen the archway on the road and train to accommodate the canal and a pathway underneath. And lower the boardwalk back to level to attach the canal sidewalk. It's a half baked idea but hope it help
The height on the overpasses is fine. For the train, definitely space out the incline. It'll help the train - right now it gets pretty slow ascending but if it is spaced further apart it'll fare better. That entire cove corner can elevate a bit and look really cool.

Starting the hill before the corner is a great idea, it will give the city a bit of hight. I say leave the arch the way it is, it looks good without diverting attention from the city.
I keep saying it, you do great elevated trains and I’m sure you can do great elevated roadways. Where I live by the beach in New York City the trains are elevated to make it easy to get to the beach. To make it easy for the canals to reach the water. Alternatively you can make everything a drawbridge. Those are fun projects and we have plenty of those around here too
I love the city and I know it’s yours but I personally think the best option for the canal is to raise the city up a few studs like in real cities, but I know that would be really hard, or you could just move the canal over to the edge of the downtown and shift all the buildings over, but I do like the look of the canal through the city.
An idea for the canal would be to flip the university and boutique hotel so that the hotel could have a waterfront view and the university could use the grass across the street for student studying. Especially if the train gets raised it could be interesting for a hillside study thing
how are clearly grey bricks 'light bluish grey'? 2:17 . yeah I think most comments just dont think the bridge is working as it is 3 bridges. do some googling, when was the last time you saw a car bridge, a train bridge and a boardwalk all as separate bridges next to each other..and when does a boardwalk ever cross a canal opening? easier to ditch it and go with another beach / siteseeing spot by the canal entrance.
Hi Jordan, Love your Lego City. Just a few ideas. You could put in a draw bridge to allow boats, barges in. For the train you could have a raised train track section that gradually decreases as it go to the countryside and to the train station. It would allow for more vegetation. The boardwalk could have a movable section to allow boats to pass similar to ones in the Netherlands. Hope this gives you some ideas. Best Regards, Seamus Howley, Ireland
You could have the seawall be higher on the right side of the bridge to help disguise the slop and minimize the bridge slope. I think um you mentioned raising the buildings near the canal, so this could also be part of the sea wall height. And move the sidewalk away from between the road and train…to the building side…I’ll still bang on about that one
If you raise the train track in the corner, you could do some sort of billboard behind it, between it and the rock cove, slap a mini bricksie logo on it! Looking great! Good job!
I feel the train track is sitting rather high relative to its arch. I don't recall how the substructure is built, but I suspect it can be lowered by 2 plates or a brick without affecting the clearance underneath. I also don't think the arches need widening. I'd strongly recommend building the sides of the canal before committing to an arch-widening; I even wouldn't be surprised if they're already too wide.
I'm thinking that you could raise the whole of the last two blocks of modular buildings, but understand that would be a lot of work. I think it could be awesome to have some level changes in the built-up areas.
Great video as always! Maybe for the bridges you could sorta fake some of the elevation change also, like make the actual train track and roadway not go up quite as far, but have the sides of the bridges go up higher (like side walls). This could create the illusion of a higher bridge but allow you to actually lower the travel surfaces a bit to lessen the grades. Just a thought. Keep up the great work!
As you said you might raise the train on the right side. If you do that, you can connect the sidewalk and the boardwalk under the tracks with a tunnel or just some fence if the train track is only supported and not built around
What if the bike lane was along the outside of the city so it would be a long continuous path from the residential to the country? The when gets to the bridge the pedestrian bridge would be on the city side of the road? I like the idea of two lines not intersecting going through the Studgate Station. So awesome seeing the city back up
The issue is that everything is all on the same level so things clash. In the model railway hobby with a river or canal in this case, you build down not up, you would have a cut out section for the canal below the baseboard level. There is no rush, not everything will be done and finished within 3 days, take your time and try planning. This could be so amazing and detailed not just a bunch of Lego sets on a table.
He’s definitely worked himself into a corner by just throwing everything onto the table as quickly as possible without really thinking about layout. He almost needs to scrap it and start over. Just all seems rushed and sloppy.
When it comes to the PAB wall, I’d consider this, if you spend an hour stacking 5 boxes, or throw the same parts in 6 or 7 boxes and spend a lot less time on it for the extra 20 or 40 bucks, how fast can you make that money back selling Minifigs or whatever. It’s a balancing act, what’s more valuable, a few extra parts or your time. Personally, I’d be throwing parts in boxes and making my money back in the time I saved instead.
On the S curve side you could raise the track a bit before the the s curve. Keep it level there, then the bridge would just start a little higer on that side, decreasing the dramatic incline.
Loving the updates. I think the road grade looks fine. There are real bridges with steep slopes. Bridges are awesome the way they are, I don't think there's any value in messing with it right now. Or the train grades. Not when there's all kinds of other projects to switch to. Sometimes it's best to work on something else and then come back fresh. Another option on the left is to raise the rails, but then also raise the *road* on the far side of the rail line along the zoo up a brick or two. Then after crossing the tracks it drops back down. It's a bit of work and those road plates would be custom relative to the rest of the city, but then you'd have even more interesting elevation changes.
I like the look of your existing designs for the bridges, without any more substantial modifications. I’ve been on tour boat rides in European cities and the San Antonio Riverwalk and I believe your existing designs are good to go for a canal in a downtown area. And go Oilers!
What if you move the railroad tracks back a baseplate and so they run between fire station and the buildings on the back side of it and remove the street right on the ocean and then you could have an iconic skyline waterfront (keeping the boardwalk) that would be similar to several world cities. Then the first focus would be on your lovely city and not necessarily the infrastructure which (because of Lego’s strange mini figure proportions) can sometimes look clunkier than the more elegant buildings? Just an idea. Always love your great videos and the mural and city look spectacular!
If your goal is to gradually include an incline leading into a mountain range might I suggest starting that grade from the water on. If you have extra sheets of melamine left over why not just cut them to size and just lay another sheet over the top of the table. You just have to lay the sheets around to fit where you want to canal to go. That will give you some actual elevation to work off of cause that seems to be the main struggle. You can use some of those pool table discs things to add even more height, consider it like your raised platform in your old setup, just much lower and spread out.
Good thing is … your city is a moving beast. Like any city. Anything can be changed and updated. Worry about the bridges later. One day, it will come to you. It would be nicer if they were decorative and different. Or consider making a multi arch bridge on the first bridge, then taper down to one.
One suggestion would be to raise the canal and tunnel the road and train underneath. This would create elevation and landscaping possibilities. Aqueduct the water out of the canal.
My toddler is I think a little older than your kiddos. And a birthday gift I got for my little one was the Duplo animals of the world and wow it's definitely a hit! Expensive set, but so worth seeing the joy from playing with all the cool animals!
bring back the raised train line and start the incline on the long stretch and swap it where the boardwalk is. the water can then move back some and you will have alot of breathing/ creating room around the road area.
Rather than extending the tran incline you could maybe lower the height of the bridge track by a brick. Keep the arch height but drop the height of the track. This would decrease the incline so the heavier trains can make it over easier and not come screaming down the other side. You might also be able to take out the flexi track pieces. Just a thought.
The drawbridge is a neat idea... but you just have nowhere to put the mechanism unless it's a structure like the lift span on the old Okanagan Lake floating bridge... and something like that is absolute overkill for a span as small as the width of the canal. Keeping the bridges basically as they are there looks great, I think, and when you have the rest of the city together to your satisfaction the canal bridges can be revisited then if you get some ideas along the way.
The height of the brides is now fine. - Provided the boats in that area are very low lying - check the house boats in Amsterdam for example as inspiration.
I have 3lego stores and a discovery centre near me in Toronto and they never get good parts like this on their PAB walls. It would almost be worth the 30 hour drive to West Edmonton mall for this wall selection
elevate the train track across the front of the entire city of have it elevated 1 city block back form the the water. Then make that entire road/track area a water front park area wiht bike and walkng trails
definitely raising the train track earlier and keeping the corner flat and integrating it into the rocks would look super cool the bridge on the broadwalk definitely needs extending but i think the road looks fine personally , whatever you do will be super awesome dude love your videos and will continue watching everyday
It all looks great, I’d start working on the other side of the canal and if adjusting the bridges and arches is warranted at that point make the decision then!
Like in Venice (Italy) you could add a Venetian Gondola under the low bridge with two people on and the "gongoliere" (the sailor) jumping on the bridge. I've seen videos and photos online about it. Could be a nice addition.
Raising the gradient of the road will allow you to move the university to another area and create a university precinct with a park in front of it (and maybe a couple of extra buildings).
2 comments about the train tracks. First, if you raise the rails between the city and beach, it would help separate the two areas. Second, I feel that you could make a minor change to the two rail lines that go through the train station. I think one line should turn and go towards the city and the other turn and go towards the amusement park. It would allow you to isolate two separate loops to have two trains running at the same time without their paths crossing.
The sidewalk on the road over the canal makes more sense on the other side since there are sidewalks in front of the buildings it could marry up with. Just a suggestion since the bridges are in discussion.🥰👍
We bought the Snow White Cottage yesterday because it doesn’t have that huge warning sticker on it yet. Lego employee said the next shipment will probably have it on it
if your elevate the railway it would give your space for a ped and possible road link from down town to the beach front but by all means leave it as is for the time being
Love how quickly you've incorporated the suggestions for the bridges! The height is perfect-great work. I completely agree with your ideas on widening the bridges and starting the slopes and elevations earlier. I think these changes will add even more character to the city and nicely break up the straight lines of the boardwalk. Keep up the great work and enjoy the process, mate!
I'd still "lower" the track over the canal by 1 stud tall, as it appears you have the arch level height and one more row on top of that over the canal. If you lower the track down 1, the arch is still the same and that lowers the whole grade up and down by one...
ugh we were there a week ago all the way from Penticton BC, they were out of pretty much everything I need haha. Got some of those 2x4 bricks tho. I'm in desperate need of foilage!
could you leave the train bridge sides as they are so it looks right but lower the track by one or two bricks to help with the gradient? if you put a black brick across the side of the track you probably wouldn't notice it being lower than the arch.
you could start the grade around the corner and wait till behind the beach to start the down grade that way you could have pedestrian tunnels from the beach to the town
This is an amazing project you are undertaking and I enjoy watching it evolve. Having said that, I think that a city of this calibre should not have short cuts. With all due respect, these bridges feel rushed. Instead of building up more, have you considered lowering the canal? Modify the woodwork of the tables and sink the canal quite a bit lower? This is going to be the ultimate city and you are going to require endless hours of content, so the fact that it is a ton of work should not matter. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work!
The foot bridge looks better slightly flattened out but the road is ok. The rail looks good but when your batteries are running low the train might not make it which is a shame. The rocky area in the corner is looking really good.
Hey Jordan, just a thought but why not move the sidewalk to the other side of the bridge that way it’s facing the canal. Not sure what your plan is with the sidewalk between the road and railroad. You don’t even need to move the bike lane, just place the sidewalk next to the bike lane. Keep up the good work!
Train gradients are so ugh...finally got mine worked out...lots of duplo support! 😂 Wish I had access to a PAB wall like that! We do have a lego store...but it's always weird parts and slim pickings...bulk lots from local classifieds can be really hit and miss 🙄 I think the bridges look great! It looks like they've been built at different times throughout the city's growth. 🤷🏻♂️
Bricksie, are you planning on doing an underwater section with a sunken ship and the reef. I think it would be a cool addition, as long as you had space for it.
I’d suggest getting the canal landscaped first and then adjust the bridges to suit the configuration of the canal. I think the current width of three canal is influencing comments in relation to the bridge.
You may have answered this in a different video, but could all of the mils plates have been, for instance, 2 bricks deep rather than the 1? I thought the whole point of mils, besides adding strength and the ability to move buildings easily, was so you can landscape and add depth to certain areas. If the mils plates were deeper then issues with the train line/bridge gradient would look a lot nicer perhaps as it would be sunk in more. However, keep up the good work, the clouds look awesome when you have the camera low down into the city 👍

Raise the whole corner including the buildings or lower the table on the river section
Please can you do another modular
how are clearly grey bricks 'light bluish grey'? 2:17 . yeah I think most comments just dont think the bridge is working as it is 3 bridges. do some googling, when was the last time you saw a car bridge, a train bridge and a boardwalk all as separate bridges next to each other..and when does a boardwalk ever cross a canal opening? easier to ditch it and go with another beach / siteseeing spot by the canal entrance.
I love your two boutique hotels together , its so clean , I just can't stop looking at it❤
Hi Jordan,
Love your Lego City.
Best Regards,
Seamus Howley, Ireland
You could have the seawall be higher on the right side of the bridge to help disguise the slop and minimize the bridge slope.
I think um you mentioned raising the buildings near the canal, so this could also be part of the sea wall height.
And move the sidewalk away from between the road and train…to the building side…I’ll still bang on about that one
If you raise the train track in the corner, you could do some sort of billboard behind it, between it and the rock cove, slap a mini bricksie logo on it! Looking great! Good job!
comments: Draw bridge!
Bricksie: Cool idea, NOT gonna do it!
😂😂😂
comments: the grade of the roads is not realistic!
Lego-city: ...
I like the bridges for the road, track and sea walk. Plenty of time if you want to modify it in future. Doing great job Jordan!
Great shout and definitely worth a try!
Dude, you're taking these comments to literally. It's your lego and your studio/city.
I think the arch size i good, especially the height. You do not want enormous ship in a urban canal. This size is good enough for a leisure boat.
20 to 40 bucks adds up real quick when you have a city the size of Jordan’s…
Plus - all the thinking/planning you can do while stacking those boxes…
Thank you for showing us the view from under the bridges.
If you had a drawbridge that was a combination of the train track and road, you would only need to build one
Then it solves your grade issues
What if you move the railroad tracks back a baseplate and so they run between fire station and the buildings on the back side of it and remove the street right on the ocean and then you could have an iconic skyline waterfront (keeping the boardwalk) that would be similar to several world cities. Then the first focus would be on your lovely city and not necessarily the infrastructure which (because of Lego’s strange mini figure proportions) can sometimes look clunkier than the more elegant buildings? Just an idea. Always love your great videos and the mural and city look spectacular!
I think the road bridge is a little steep but the train track and boardwalk is fine and the arches are fine. The city is looking good so far!
I wish the Lego stores around me had little “on sale” tables with the red stickers. That A-Frame Cabin seemed like a good deal 👍🏼
i like the train bridge i wouldn't change it at all if it was me. maybe add a couple tiles over the studs in the middle part but it looks great
I like the idea of raising the corners to decrease the grade. It would bring the track up out of the mils plates so it's not dug in
The drawbridge is a neat idea... but you just have nowhere to put the mechanism unless it's a structure like the lift span on the old Okanagan Lake floating bridge... and something like that is absolute overkill for a span as small as the width of the canal. Keeping the bridges basically as they are there looks great, I think, and when you have the rest of the city together to your satisfaction the canal bridges can be revisited then if you get some ideas along the way.
Something that might be cool since I know you like connecting things is for the canal to connect to a lake be the campground.
Then make that entire road/track area a water front park area wiht bike and walkng trails
definitely raising the train track earlier and keeping the corner flat and integrating it into the rocks would look super cool
the bridge on the broadwalk definitely needs extending but i think the road looks fine personally , whatever you do will be super awesome dude love your videos and will continue watching everyday
I think elevating the track there and at the beach would work.
The train bridge would be great if you raised the very middle track by one single stud to stop the train from having to clack off of it a bit more
The sidewalk on the road over the canal makes more sense on the other side since there are sidewalks in front of the buildings it could marry up with. Just a suggestion since the bridges are in discussion.🥰👍
We bought the Snow White Cottage yesterday because it doesn’t have that huge warning sticker on it yet. Lego employee said the next shipment will probably have it on it
Modify the bridges to be amulti span arched bridge, as suggested below. Boats don't need to fit underneath, except a kayak or canoe.
if your elevate the railway it would give your space for a ped and possible road link from down town to the beach front but by all means leave it as is for the time being
Love how quickly you've incorporated the suggestions for the bridges!
I'm in desperate need of foilage!
could you leave the train bridge sides as they are so it looks right but lower the track by one or two bricks to help with the gradient? if you put a black brick across the side of the track you probably wouldn't notice it being lower than the arch.
you could start the grade around the corner and wait till behind the beach to start the down grade that way you could have pedestrian tunnels from the beach to the town
i think you should put some kind of railing on the sides of the raised bridge
This is an amazing project you are undertaking and I enjoy watching it evolve. Having said that, I think that a city of this calibre should not have short cuts. With all due respect, these bridges feel rushed. Instead of building up more, have you considered lowering the canal? Modify the woodwork of the tables and sink the canal quite a bit lower? This is going to be the ultimate city and you are going to require endless hours of content, so the fact that it is a ton of work should not matter. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work!
Lego PAB shopping pirate ship 🍕
I've seen road grades like that on creeks. Sometimes even in real life you got a distance problem like that and have to adapt to it.
15:55 make a drawbridge for the train and car bridge
I misread Parts as Paris and thought you’d been to the Lego store in Paris, which I really enjoy going to. I’d love to meet you if you are ever there!
Wish I had access to a PAB wall like that! We do have a lego store...but it's always weird parts and slim pickings...bulk lots from local classifieds can be really hit and miss 🙄
I think the bridges look great! It looks like they've been built at different times throughout the city's growth. 🤷🏻♂️
The arch needs to fit a boat through it, like a canal boat or smaller boats
Bricksie, are you planning on doing an underwater section with a sunken ship and the reef. I think it would be a cool addition, as long as you had space for it.
I’d suggest getting the canal landscaped first and then adjust the bridges to suit the configuration of the canal. I think the current width of three canal is influencing comments in relation to the bridge.
When you raise the train rack in corner you could make a pedestrian tunnel under so people can access rock beach cove
I really liked your raised train tracks that you had before.
The grade of the bridge for the cars is realistic.....People haven't been in Amsterdam i guess. The bridges there over the canals are steep!
