And watch it in a room with room to dance. I guarantee you will be dancing around your room by the fifth song. Or maybe earlier. I'm 61, a year older than your dad, and I still get up and dance like a maniac when watching this film. Truly the best concert film ever made. It's being re-released in theaters on September 29, 2023. I can't wait!
LOVE IT !!! This is My FAV Talking Heads song!! I was one of 1st to see it Live & you could say it led me to Unreal R &R Life ( from 79 to Mid-80's).....1979 I was on Penn State concert committee...Heads came to play ( stadium where basketball was played, we had set up folding chairs on floor for seating) after setting up we got to meet the band. I got to talk with Bassist Tina about 15 mins.( mostly about Art, I was sculpture major) as she went to leave she said she liked my dress( Crazy thing HUGE shoulder Pads & LOTS of Zippers) I told her I made it...She said " You're kidding!" I told her I made side money making costumes for Drama majors....She told she knew bands in NYC might like my clothes &&& she gave phone # of guy she said she knew that could hook me up with them...The Guy was a Club owner....Hilly Krystal Of CBGB's....Things went NUTS after ( 1st shirt I sold, few months later, Hilly hooked me up with Band called Blondie...their Drummer Clem was my 1st customer LOL)&&&& Want a BIG LOL!! 1979 Penn State...This Song was LAST they played( && it was only the ORIGINAL 4 playing, David,Jerry, Chris & Tina) David said "Here's a New One" && they LAUNCHED into it !!! We'd NEVER heard the song before, BUT SECONDS Later...ALL the chairs on the floor were swept aside & Floor was a MASS of people pumping arms &&& DANCING !! &&& LOL people in the Bleacher seats did it too!! Found out later 2 people fell off bleachers dancing..I WILL ALWAYS LOVE TALKING HEADS !! GREAT reaction !! P.S. LOVE the Dad & Daughter reaction!! Some of BEST times with My " Kids" bonding over music !! Hope you don't mind Old Lady's Overshare !! LOVE &&& Rock ON !!
They just re-released this DVD (Stop Making Sense) in the US in IMAX theatres. This is the best live show in history on DVD......the whole concert is FIRE!
My sister took me to see them in Atlanta in a really small theatre called the Agora Ballroom (maybe 300 people, and they were all within touching distance) in Atlanta in 1979. We danced for 3 or 4 hours straight. I was 17 and it was lifechanging 😍
I liked some of talking heads when i use to frequent the night clubs years ago with songs like psycho killer and slippery people but have never actually seen them in concert . I never realised there was a lot of dancing . They must be superfit.
Anything from this movie "Stop Making Sense" is worth watching. You mentioned B-52. They played a style of rock called "new wave". Talking Heads were also from that style but also seamlessly integrated funk and afro beat. If you want to check out studio; Remain In Light and Speaking In Tongues are classics.
I wrote this in another reaction but, in my mind, this was a very special group; blending male/female, black/ white, and audio/visual energies. The core group were all originally art students. The lead singer, David Byrne is still creatively active; writing books and creating art shows. Glad you were able to have a taste of them.
I was born in 1969. I don't think about my age 😂 , but I knew about The Talking Heads. I just never realized they were that freaking good. I don't know why. They are great and way ahead of their time though.
I was lucky enough to see Talking Heads on this tour in Berkeley. Everyone was on their feet dancing the whole show…magical, the audience so pumped up like one big party. I took my 28 year old daughter this past weekend to see this whole film Stop Making Sense cuz it’s been Re-released in IMAX in movie theaters here in the states and of course she loved it ❤️
I LOVE this movie!!! It was recorded over 3 nights. Same set but 3 different angles, one for each night. One night left stage, one night right stage, and one night straight on.
Yeah, some of us do. You had to find them, though, which I did in college, starting 1982. From there, you spread the word, a person at a time. Social networking before there were social networks.
@@DashyAndDadReacts - I'm glad one of you remembers, without me having to teach a history lesson. Not that I mind, I just don't feel that I'm able to do justice to the feeling back then of discovering a band. I definitely can't explain the importance of Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. I'm glad you're there to take her through it. Cheers.
The choreography for the live Born Under Punches is verrrry cool! Great reaction to one of my favorite concerts/movies, Stop Making Sense! The whole thing is terrific! Thanks! I love that you both enjoy the same music. Dashy, you are an old soul! Since I just discovered you today I am going to go see what else you guys have shared! Also, in case you didn't know David Byrne has a new one called American Utopia, more info on that here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Utopia
I can tell that David Byrne is autistic just from the way he moves. His expressions, too, but I also do the weird things with my neck and the arm adjustments.
Personally watch a different version of this live video. The song is all off. There is one in japan and another, ive listened to them since I was very little and this one isn't on point.
When the movie came out and hit theaters I watched it 4 times in a row... 💃💃💃🕺🕺🕺 Great band
Amazing 🤩
it's back..the movie is just about out in theaters again
My wife and I saw it 4 times when it was back in theaters, too!!!

In the opening scene of the concert film, he performs the song "Psycho Killer" alone, accompanied by a tape recorder, and it's fantastic too!

I saw Talking Heads live in 1984 in NZ. Copied all Dave Byrne's dance moves and became a dance legend in Tokyo many years later. ;-)
Amazing 🤩
I'm always amazed at Tina Weymouth on bass!
Amazing 🤩
Great video! You should definitely react to more Talking Heads songs. David Byrne is a musical genius.

You're the best! Whoop
David Byrne is self-diagnosis as an autistic, and credits it to his talent.

The video needs to be bigger and you smaller. We can still se your reactions.
