For those of you who don't know, the Cecil Hotel has 2 front entrances: one for the hotel itself and one for a hostel. The hostel part is actually supposed to be nicer (and a whole helluva lot safer) than the hotel part, but it sounds like Chilly stayed there when the hostel was in its early stage. So if you plan to stay there, make absolutely sure you're booking a room at the hostel and NOT the hotel......Elisa Lam made that mistake.
Yeah I'm glad you brought that up, if you look at the netflix show about the Cecil Hotel it talks more about the two entrances. The nicer one is the Stay on Main hotel for tourists, while the Cecil is for the tenants. It's really interesting since it's all in the same building, they're just on different floors.

@@camilamedina7314 Actually, it was an accidental death. She was off her medications and thought someone was after her. She hid in the water tank on the roof and you know the rest. The reason I brought up Elisa is because she mixed up the motel and hostel parts.

Scary Fact: The infamous serial killer Richard Ramirez aka The Nightstalker would stay in Cecil Hotel for few weeks during his killing spree. And, I don't know if it's true or not, but he would prowl the corridors in bloody underwear after his murders.
Another well known thing that happened there was the case of Elisa Lam, who disappeared inside the hotel

Cecil hotel where have I heard.... oh... OH. It was rebranded as "Stay on Main" in 2011 and was closed in 2017, and reopening this year (2021,) apparently. These types of SRO (think dorm room with no kitchen or bathroom) buildings are often rented by people who can't afford anything livable (we have a rundown building like it in Vancouver itself.)
Yeah, what's worse is that it's on Skid Row, which isn't a very nice or safe area.
I think if there's one thing we all can compare is that the sleep after you cry hit so.different on any level of existence
I like how the driver was like. This is a sketchy place in the middle of the night and my young female passenger has no where else to go. I don't think she should stay here and instead find a safer hotel.
If you actually go to the The Cecil Hotel, take Den and Tabbs with you.
