    Battery life on the Sony and Canon cameras you mention (available for just a teeny bit more money) average between them 280-350 shots per battery. The Nikon D3500, meanwhile, offers (for less money than the other two cameras) an average of 1500 shots per battery. This talks to me more than anything else.

    I bought this as my first camera and absolutely love it. All camera tech will keep expanding. For a newbie like me it’s truly great. I bought the dx 35mm and am falling in love. I spent so much time online researching between Nikon canon Fuji tomato tamale brah just pull the trigger and you will figure out your needs as you go. Most people get way too caught up in the latest tech it’s just like the iPhone at this point. You can’t go wrong. They all are amazing. Also great channel thank you for the video. Godspeed internet

    Hi great video, a little advice, if someone is going for the D3500: Don't do it, go for the D3400 instead, its practically the same thing BUT, the D3400 has the FN button which you can customize to be the ISO and that is so helpful, I have no idea why Nikon remove it on the D3500.

    • @Recycler-tq1cl
      @Recycler-tq1cl 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd rather have better sensor than an fn button. D3500 has less noise from iso 3200 onwards

    • @oscarb3139
      @oscarb3139 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Recycler-tq1cl well, both cameras handle the ISO very bad, at 3200 they both are pretty messed up, so I'd stick to fn button, even better, I'd go for a 7xxx series instead.

    I have a D3500 and am a pretty 💩 photographer to be honest
    The battery life is second to none on this camera. Personally, I have gone way over the quoted 1550 shot CIPA estimate.
    Getting on the whinge about it after you have bought it seems odd to me unless you have bought on a whim or been ill advised upon purchase………… All the resources ( like this brilliant channel ) are out there for people to make an informed decision.
    A reasonable step up from the D3500 is the D5600 but the battery life is halved ( D3500 & D5600 use the same battery ) so was a deal breaker for average photographer me.
    Another feature the D3500 has that is seldom mentioned, is the “Guide” feature. It is an absolute godsend for a useless fcuker like me 🤗
    One thing the D range of Nikon DSLR’s have going for them, is the range of lenses. So many “second hand” ones for sale that have generally hardly / ever been used
    The Z50 ? Has a pretty thin lens options at the moment
    In short. The D3500, not without the odd shortcoming I know, is probably the pick of the entry level bunch

  • @bettyeverett8089

    Good video. I have the D3500 and have gotten great video and images on it. My only issues that I wished it had are bracketing, remote shutter release (not the Snapbridge app, which is useless), time lapse video, wifi, and microphone input. Other than those few things, it is still an amazing camera compared to my much older, but still functioning Olympus Evolt E 500. I have been looking at the Z50 and with the lens adapter, I could still use all my lenses and not have to pay much more. I love Nikon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Could you also post some images you have shot on the Nikon Z50 in a future video for comparison.

    • @Motoko_Urashima
      @Motoko_Urashima 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mitchsmadness There's no microphone port, you'd have to use the onboard one or use an entirely external recording device.
      The lack of accessory ports and compatible equipment is actually the worst part about the D3500, the lack of remote shutter options drives me crazy.

      @@dhruvjoshi9953 honestly I wish I'd spent more, or perhaps bought a used D200 - I miss the pro style adjustments where you hold a button and move a dial to change ISO, etc. It just feels a bit too dumbed down and consumer level - like a posh point-and-shoot camera with a nice lens on the front. Going through menus to find settings is too slow - the photo opportunity is usually gone before I'm ready.

      It depends on the exact user needs. But The m50 is better in low light

    Would this be a decent camera for a beginner such as myself?
    *Edit*
    Apologies I comments far too early without watching the video.
    Thanks for the recommendations, I’m really excited to start my new journey (I have never been motivated to start hobbies) so I’ll be sticking with this Nikon.
    I’m a beginner so I just need a decent camera which have all the functions to start learning.
    I have absolutely liked and subscribed as I get the feeling I’ll be coming here quite often to expand my knowledge.
    Much appreciated thank you!

    I like image quality, handling and battery life of this camera. But it is crippled on so many levels. I don't know how much those things meter to begginers but for me was of putting. Specially luck of wifi, iso button and no af with screw af lenses.

      I think most people dont really use those features are often features that a more advanced user will want
